I've been wanting to watch this movie since I was in college, but I just don't have the courage. I am a certified lover, dogs in particular. I know that watching this movie means I would have to cry. Most of my friends who have watched it told me that I should have some rolls of tissue beside me once I watch this. It took me years before I have decided to watch it.
I just can't really imagine how Hachiko felt for that entire 9 years of waiting in vain. I mean... I have experienced for a lot of times that feeling of loneliness and longing. I must say it is such a horrible feeling. At least human understands that if someone died, it means that person won't be coming back and we could just try to move on with our lives. In HAchiko's case, the dog never understands death. He probably felt disappointed everyday of his life for 9 years. The way the story ended lessened the pain I felt for HAchiko, knowing that he was finally reunited with his beloved master.
After watching the movie, I immediately cuddled and kissed my dog. She was like a sister and best friend to me. I have more love and concern for dogs (and other pets) than with humans. I mean... humans have brain and we could take care of orselves in any ways, while dogs (and other animals) are helpless ones. When they get sick, they just die on their own. I believe that dogs are the only ones or much more capable of being loyal and faithful than humans can. Let us try to love, care and protect them and they will never ever fail us.

In fact as an animal lover, I would say you should watch it. Even though it is heart wrenching at the climax. i would say you shouldnt miss such a class movie. Infact I felt it was good to see the dog die because i felt it was really painful to see it wait all those years for his aster who was never going to come.

yeah right! It took me years before I had the courage to watch it. Dogs are one of my greatest weakness. I just hope each and everyone would learn to love, care and protect all the dogs over the world. They are precious ones regardless of their breed. I understand if you can't bear to watch this movie. :(

That movie is one of the best movie I ever watched, It made me cry and it makes my heart melt since I am a dog lover, I really can see how Hachiko is waiting for his master, and I think Hachiko is the National Dog in Japan now and they even made a statue of him since it is a true to life story. It is really true that dogs are mans best friend.

Glad you finally did!
I already watched that movie for three times and it has never failed to make me cry. I super love dogs and I love movies too who are starred by dogs because their act are so natural and cute! Hachi is one cute dog. I am planning to have an Akita as soon as I have money to buy, have a place for him to live and I should be with him too.
Have a nice day!

I've watched this movie a few years ago but I did not watch till the end. This is a great movie, depicting loyalty and a deep affection between dog and the owner. This film is very draining tears.

I think you must have felt so emotional because you must then be having a lovely pet. Most of the people who loved this movie either had pets or would love to have one. Even when I saw the movie, i found dog was a very good friend a man could have.

I watched it a few years back and to this day I find if I even see the cover of the dvd, I get a little teared up. I think that humans and dogs really do complete one another- they give us so much and all they ask in return is some affection. The concept of the dog not fully understanding absence is a sad notion. Have you seen the videos of dogs' reactions when their estranged owners come back from during their tour of duty abroad? My dog acts that way when I come back from going to the grocery store! They really are pack-minded creatures, waiting until we've come back from the hunt and have returned to their den. They know their job is to please their alpha, contribute and protect but loss is something they just don't comprehend. I can say that I've had more faith and compassion from any of my dogs versus boyfriends I had in the past.

Dogs have that sense of being faithful. They simply can't accept people disappoint them. I can see this at my dog. She loves me but I think she loves my husband more. This happens because they stay together for most of the day. I am usually off to the office for about 8 hours a day and it it's normal they are more close together. I can see how sad she is when my husband has to leave home. She just lies down watching the door until he comes back. She is always sure he comes back. Even if we leave home and return before he's back, she still waits for him. I think she would wait for him like Hachiko did even if he would never come back home.

Aw....... you cuddled with him? Tell me about it when I heard the story I cried only by listening to it, so I'm not in the mood to watch it right now. This dog is Japan's symbol of loyalty, I'm sure when he went to the after life he met his daddy cause no loyalty like this could be unpaid... I know many stories of Animals that waited for their beloved.

I love that movie, hachiko is different from the other dogs. Woow!!!. He is a unique dog. The dog waited for 9 years hoping that he's master will be back. Thumbs up for that movie.

I don't have a pet dog. Well, actually we have one or rather my brother have one, a pitbull. He came to us as a puppy and now he's 2 years old. Back then, I don't really like dogs but I don't really hate them. I guess it has something to do with my experience as a little kid when a neighbor's dog ran after me and bit me. But after watching this movie a couple of years ago, it has remained to be the movie who can squeeze out tears from me. I just love the unconditional devotion and love that Hachi has for his master. Sometimes, animals does know the true meaning of faithfulness and loyalty than us humans.

Infact i also dont have any pets. Even i had not so friendly incident at my childhood. My friend then had a dog, infact a puppy. Once when i went to his house, it ran behind me. i ran all the way back to my home almost 300 meters away. After that, i dont know why I am really not so friendly with the dogs.

Yes, I love that movie so much, I was crying especially when I saw how Hachiko wait fir his master without absence in front of train station for 9 years, and I also feel for his pain, he didn't understand that his master wouldn't come back. At least at the end he can be reunited with his master.

Glad you have watched it, it's a great movie. I've never got to attach with dogs because I know they will soon be gone, either by disease or just because too old. My daughters hate dogs, and so my husband. The kids prefer hamsters as pets. I kinda miss my old dog, he's still alive back there in our hometown and still recognize me well.

I have watched Hachiko 2 years ago and I must say, I have emptied a box of tissue after the movie! I also have two dogs and the movie made me realize more how I should take care of my dogs and how lucky we are for having such loyal pets and friends.
