Tattoos

I just answered a post on Mylot that triggered an idea for a question. Last week I got a tattoo done and when I went into the shop it had a poster on the wall saying that children would not be tattooed even if accompanied by their parents. However, I queried the man and said "do people even ask that question?" and he told me that the youngest child they had, had in with their parent was 11. I was absolutely shocked that a parent would even consider getting their child tattooed. I have 2 children aged 2 1/2 and 6 1/2 and would never even contemplate allowing them to be tattooed until they are at least 18. Even then I would question their ability to decide on a lifetime commitment. So what do you think about children getting tattooed? Would you let your child be tattooed and if so what age do you think is appropriate?

I will not even let mosquitos reach their skin so do the tattoo device/machine/tool. I think, the pain will create an impact on their way of thinking and lifestyle.

I can't really say no for now. I have a baby girl and I can't imagine her having her ink till probably she reached 21. I have seen some people wearing little tattoo with some not obvious parts of their body and I'm not against this. But if it will be my children, as long as they're still not on the legal age to decide for their self, no I wouldn't let them have a tattoo.

If my children where 18 years old I have no choice but to let them because when your 18 your not a child any more your and adult and that is one of the rights that an 18 year old has to get tattoos or what ever pierces they want. The one where I go to just says you can't allow children to be unaccompanied by and adult. Which I've taken my daughter many time I haven't taken my son yet. I believe there is a law saying that you can't allow children to get tattoo but I'm not sure on that one. You can get your kid pierced but you cant let them get tattooed. I only have one tattoo as of right now and I've had my ears doubled pierced one when I was baby but then I got it redone again when I was 13 since my wholes closed up and then my second piercing when I was 15 and then my belly button done just almost a year ago and a tattoo for almost a year. I still wouldn't let my little ones get anything done other then maybe piercing depending where it is we might let them and go with them of course. 11 years old not at all way to young for a tattoo.

I don't have any children, but I would say that until they are 18 they shouldn't be allowed tattoos at all. Aside from the risks, it is a big decision to make as it is permanent and some people won't have stopped growing, which could affect it depending on were the tattoo is on the body. At 18 they are adults and can make up their own minds.
