Steaming cake

I was trying to make cake by steaming it, but so far i never succeed. Is there any tips so that my cake can be cooked properly? Should i replace butter with cooking oil? I'm quite frustrated, since my aunt taught me how to do it, but so far no success.

Take a cooker,fill it with 1 inch water.place a stand inside and then on the stand the cake batter in baking utensil.Close the cooker and do not put on the weight.Check out after forty minutes or so.So simple and easy.
I guess making a steamed cake is not much dependent on the amount of butter or oil.
