Owls in the knit!

Well I guess there are two things to discuss here. One being I found this site for those who knit and crochet. www.ravelry.com . It is an interesting sharing site for patterns some free others for sale. In truth I spent way too much time looking around the other night..lol so much to look at and wanting to make I found a great pattern for a knitted hat with owls made from cables. Subject number two! It was very easy to do and fun to boot. I love to knit in the round so it was a great pattern for me. I used a very bright orange yarn (the picture doesn't do the color justice but if you have seen the vests hunters wear it is that color) as my daughter needed a hat for hunting and she loves it. She is a young teen and it is a little big for her ( I made the adult size cause the middle size just looked too small) but it can be pulled down low for her so I think that is good if she'll be out in the woods for long periods of time in the cold. The pattern had buttons for the eyes but she didn't like that so we used beads and I think they are cute!

Knitting in the round is very easy to do once you get past the fear of all those needles. It is mmy favorite way to knit now!

I don't knit but I do crochet. A lot of crochet. I've got so much stuff done and stored away I need to find a way to sell it somewhere. I've been a member of Ravelry for a long time. I also get free patterns from Lion Brand. And I check Crochet Pattern Central online all of the time. I kind of back off during the summer time but now that it's getting cooler and the holiday season is almost here, I guess I'll start up pretty soon. I haven't bought a pair of socks in years. I can make a pair in one sitting during an evening. Also have hats and scarves galore, male and female, and some baby things.

You don't need a photo but I am not sure if it is worth it without one as who will really buy unseen items from internet?

Try selling on Etsy. I do pretty good with my own patterns and hand made items. I do not do too many of the knit things on there because we have a lot of furry pets but my jewelry does OK. Craft shows are good too.

I've seen this pattern before! I meant to knit it but got distracted by something else, I really should do it - it would make a great gift for a friend.
Yours looks like it came out quite nicely!

There where several different versions of this one and this one seem the simplest to do so I picked it. It was simple and fun!

I cannot crochet and haven't knitted snce I made the last child a knitted blanket of multi coloured squares - and now she is married! The only craft that I do really is embroidery and I haven't done that for a long time either. I am intrigued by you mentioning that your daughter goes hunting. What does she hunt?

How cleverly the owls are incorporated into the pattern. Very well done.
