Films that make us cry

When I was a child I cried through every Lassie film I saw and I still cry at films about animals. I would not go to see Warhorse for that reason. It must be their vulnerability that brings on the tears. Love films make me cry too if the ending is sad. Love Story was a terrible film, I cried all the way through that one. This time it was the vulnerability of losing someone who was greatly loved. I can stand a little sadness in a film if it ends well and I can leave the cinema with a smile. Are you a cry baby in the cinema and what is it that causes you the most tears?

No I don't cry in public, but I cry on the inside though. Love Story was the first movie I ever saw with my very first boyfriend, in 1971. It was just a great movie though.

My first movie I cried uncontrollably was "The Champ". I was little then but I can recall being so upset by it but that wasn't the end to my cry baby antics. I know I will cry when a dog or horse movie comes on, whether it be a happy or a sad premise. I did watch Warhorse and was so embarrassed that I blubbered through it. I know it's the subject material but a lot has to do with the tear-jerking music that's being played.

Oh yes, I'm a major cry baby. Like you, if it has to do with animals I'll cry no matter what happens. Even if it's cute, funny and happy I'll still cry. Those are happy tears though.
I'll also cry if someone is a genuine victim. In other words, if the character in the picture brings on the calamity himself or herself, I don't have a whole lot of pity. They brought it on themselves. People who take unnecessary risks with their lives??? Well??
Now the stories about those who've developed life threatening illnesses or who were victims of an accident and the plot is about how they are coping; bring me the tissues because here comes the water works.

There are two movies that really made me cry and moved me, it's Mari and Hachiko, both are movies about the dog. I love this movie, I can watch it over and over again. My sister and I watching Mari and her husband caught us weeping then he left while laughing. Very touching and beautiful movie indeed.

I used to be very sensitive as a child as well! I remember I cried very much when I was watching King Kong on the tv for the first time! Now I rarely cry in films, I become emotional only if they remind me of something personal that will make me sad, or if they look real and the story makes me live with the actors! I love those movies and I might watch them many times even if I cry like a baby :)
Generally, the romantic films that I've watched lately are very predictable and I haven't feel touched by any of them. I haven't cried over a movie for some time now!

Animals without a doubt will always make me cry. Usually, I'll only cry if the animal ends up dying, but I will be on the verge of tears when I see them hurt or being mistreated.
I will also cry sometimes in love stories. Since my boyfriend is in the army, I now cry during Dear John, even though I never used to. I also cried during the Lucky One when I watched that. If in any way someone in a movie reminds me of my boyfriend, I'll tear up. I never used to be like this but since he's away in the army, I guess I just miss him a lot more and I get sad.

Hey thanks for putting up this discussion. Interestingly i too had posted a discussion with the same topic some days back. Well coming back to your topic, i too get emotional at times while watching some movies. There are certain scenes and sequences in some movies which touches your heart very much and u feel as if u are attached to that movie and especially the characters in the movie. Most of the movies that are being made today have some significance in our lives and when they touch our lives, we cry out.
What say?
