Water is very important for us because it cleanses our bodies. For some people, though, it's not a fun thing to do drinking plain water. I neve had that problem, but, there comes a time I get tired of drinking plain water. Before, I would squeeze a little lemon juice with my drinking water. But, this lunch, I saw an officemate with a glass of water with some interesting things in its - sliced orange, lemon, pear and calamansi (chinese orange). And I thought, wow, that is more fun than my lemon water! So, I took an orange, 2 calamansis, and 3 slices of cucumber and added them to my water container. The water still tastes bland (because I did not squeeze the fruits), but it's oh so fragrant! Have you ever tried this? Are there any interesting ways I could do to make my water interesting? I heard watermelon in water is also good. Please do share.

I have not really though about putting flavor on my water coz I love drinking lots of water most especially if I have eaten something. I would want to wash down all the remaining flavors that is left in my mouth.

That's a good point. I want that, too, washing down all the flavors from my mouth. Especially in instances when you don't have the opportunity to brush your teeth. I take my fragrant water in between my meals.

Yes, especially those who dislike drinking plain water. You could also try watermelon if the kids like it. Or melon. Those fruits that are watery.

I have never tried doing those things in my drinking water, glory. Just like you, i don't like the taste of drinking water . d. SO to make it delicious to my taste, i would sometimes put some chunks of ice on it, or it should be so chilled. That being so, i can even drink 2 glasses of it, because i like it so much that way.

Ah, yes. Nothing as refreshing as a cool glass of water with chunks of ice in it! Perfect especially considering our very hot, humid tropical climate. But the for me, it's tedious getting ice into my water, so I just let the pitcher of water sit in the refrigerator instead. Talk about laziness!

The important thing is to get the coolest drink you can have. Nothing beats an icy drink in our hot, tropical weather!

Yes, sometimes i find it tedious though and lazy to do it too. . So, i would choose the bottle that has the coolest feel to my hands.

I like flavored water by nature's spring. They have them in different flavors like apple, lemon, etc. It's still water but it really tastes good.

I've tasted only once, I think. Grape flavor. Now, I prefer making my own. Very tedious, but so yummy!

I m one to enjoy the bland and simple. I like plain water over any other drink. Like I like white rice plain over any other dish imaginable. If I had white rice and plain water for the rest of my life I would be happy. I can see the attraction as added vitamins in drinks so I offer them to my children when available. I don't like ice water either because I heard it cause cancer?! Don't quote me but I also heard it burns more calories since your body must heat the water up and use up energy. Have you ever heard of the ice cream diet? It originated from that thought or fact. I live for fruit and get my sweet water from plums watermelons pears apples and lemons etc. I would think putting them in a drink would be wonderful. I always add fruit to ice cream desserts. I heard about this trend after watching the movie t"the other guys". I tried it but didn't like any but the lemon and watermelon. I would say try pear it is sweet.

I am Asian and I also like white rice. Although these days try to avoid it or lessen consumption because it has more carbohydrates than my body requires. I have heard of icy water causing cancer, especially when taken right after a meal. I don't know if I should believe it. I also heard about that one burning more calories. And I don't know if I should believe it either. And, no I have not heard of ice cream diet. Hmmm... the name sounds interesting enough! Maybe I should try pear one time. I tried grapefruit today and it's a fail. I love grapefruit but its bitterness is more apparent in my flavored water.

For me, there's no doubt that water is important to all of human beings in the world like me. Not only do we humans use it just about everyday, but every living thing needs it to live. It has helped from the earth as we know it. The importance of water is clear to us in many ways, and we can't overlook it. Our drinking water today, far from being pure, contains some two hundred deadly commercial chemicals. The bacteria, viruses, inorganic minerals and other chemicals. So we must not waste any not any water even it is not drinking water. Water is best medicine for all diseases and illness and is not costly like some healthy and nutritious products. Water is everywhere, and it is very important to the Earth and the life inhabiting it, including us.

You are right. Our water is not as pure as before. And it's all because of the unsustainable ways we manage our planet. I hope that more and more people are going to turn a new leaf and realize that our eart is our home which supplies us with our basic needs - food, water and shelter. When we destroy it, we destroy our selves. As it is, more and more water is getting contaminated. For me, I can't even trust drinking tap water. It's a pity because in the olden days, water drink from springs.

Hi gloryacam, that is really interesting and still healthy as well. But just take note that nothing is more pure and healthy than plain water. Even doctors still require plain water. But I will try that fragrant water, sounds good.

Yes, it is. But, as to my grapefruit water, I'll never do it again. The water tastes bitter! So, I will stick to the really sweet fruits, and lemon and calamansi.

Yes, when I feel lazy, I drink just plain water. I perk up my water when I have lots of fruits around. It's a cleansing tonic, they say, adding fruit slices in your drinks. Today, I'm going to try grapefruit in my water.

I love grapes and that was the only flavor i tried before - it was not what i was expecting and so i did not buy or tried any other flavors. :D I love water as it is, though so i never get tired of drinking water... i always drink water as much as i can especially if it is a warm weather. :D it helps me cool down.

I've also bought commercial flavored water before. But, I think it's healthier to make your own. We just don't know what other chemicals they put in those water so it could last in grocery shelves.

I love water. I never get tired of this even if it is tasteless. The mere fact that it hydrates and refreshes is enough reason for me to not get tired of water. Many do not really consider the importance of water in our body so they would rather just drink other fluid than drink water. In most cases they are even exchanging water for cola or soda drinks which are not even hydrating but rather dehydrating them and even corrode the linings of their colon. However, I find nothing wrong if you want to give your water some perk for as long as you are drinking water. Besides you are actually adding some healthy stuffs so no problem. I have not tried adding slices of cucumber and calamanci on my water though. What I have actually tried is juicing cucumber and calamanci, then mix them together and then add pure honey. Oh it tastes really, really good.

That's right. Some parts of our body (like our brain) are actually made up of water and water is essential for us. And you're right, some people would rather drink something else. I had a roommate once who hated water but loved coffee. I tried influencing her to drink more water. I hope she's drinking more water now. Before, I would squeeze the lemon into the water, sort of a lemonade but without the sugar. Now I just put the fruit slices. Wow, I like that with hot or warm water (calamansi and honey) - very soothing when you have a cold. Though I have not tried it with cucumber. I'll try it one time.

My mom taught me to add fresh fruits with our drinks too (a pitcher of water) and yes it's really interesting. Not just the fragrant of it, but also kids enjoy to drink more water too

It's really interesting that way! All I've been taught was how to make lemonade with lemons and sugar. But, I didn't know if I would take out the sugar, it would be much healthier, but still refreshing! Today, I will slice up some grapefruit and see how that goes.

Hi.. for me, I prefer to drink pure water (mineral water) daily rather than fragrant water. I usually drink upto 3 liter mineral water everyday. It is good for our body and also smooth our skin. Try it. Hope this share with you on this discussion. Have a great day.

I try to do that but fail sometimes. There are days that I would be busy that I forget to drink unless I'm absolutely thirsty. But, there are days like this when I could perk up my drink. The only downside I could think of is that I have to go to the bathroom everytime. Everytime! Well, it could be a good break for me considering it's a long walk from my office to the bathroom.

I don't know anything about fragrant water because for all I know, pure water is odorless and colorless. In fact it's time I've learned about "fragrant water". Thanks for posting, I sure will enjoy your recipe so simple as that. Cheers.

Of course it's still important to drink pure water because our body needs it. But, you can have this fragrant, flavored water any time. It's healthy and refreshing. Right now, I put grapefruit in my water. I'll taste it in a minute.

To be honest I prefer plain water to having fruit slices added. I find the plain water much more refreshing. One of the problem with the idea you suggest from my personal view is the fact that my allergy to oranges prohibits me from using that fruit and apple (perhaps a better source of vitamin C than oranges) is perhaps a little tart when added to water.

Oh, sorry to hear about your allergy. Well, others could be tried like watermelon and cucumber. One day, I might just try apples. I love apples and I love adding oranges and apples to fruit cocktails. So, might give it a try in plain water.

Water for health purposes is supposed to be plain. The body is equipped to use for cleansing purposes when it is purely water not those modified even fragrant as you say. To be fair to your question,I haven't taken such water unless you meant industrial juice!

I think you misunderstand the title. I put natural fruits in there so it's still natural. I am not referring to the commercial flavored water as I am also not in favor of those. If you read my post, the reason they become fragrant is because of the fragrance of the fruits themselves. In most instances, I don't even squeeze the juice, so there's very little fruit juice added to water itself. And they even say that adding a bit of lemon juice in drinking water is sort of a cleansing tonic. So, it's still good. Just stay away from those bottled flavored water or packed fruit juices or industrial juice as you say. There's just too many additives in them.
