Good to know about this. I am also interested to make sweet potato chips. Can a bread toaster be used if there is no microwave? Does it taste better than plain potatoes?

So, we can bake using ordinary oven as well? I might give it a try by next week if only i am able to find some fresh potatoes in my nearby grocery shop.

You could just bake them in the oven at 400. Be sure to spray the pan so they dont stick.

The recipe said you could, they just chose to use the microwave because they were less likely to burn like they might in the oven. If you can cut them evenly and thin they will all probably cook fine in the oven.

Try to get a sweet potato that is oblong and somewhat even in shape so when u slice it the pieces are more the same size. Just use a sharp knife to cut them really thin like a poato chip. I just sprayed the glass dish from the microwave with cooking spray and layed them on there. Then just spray or swipe with a little olive oil or cooking spray and season however u like. I cooked them for like 5-7to minutes ...u just have to watch so they dont get burned since some might be thinner then others. Today i tried regular potatoes and they are so yummy! Much healthier then regular potato chips u buy.

Kemak, i like potato chips as well. But, i never tried making my own potato chips. Usually, i would buy potato chips from the nearest shopping malls. Wow, i never thought that we can make our own potato chips. does it as crispy as those sold in the shop? I might give it a try next week, if only i am able to find fresh sweet potato.

Yes, surely more healthy since they contained less salt and no added other chemicals. I am waiting to bake my own potato chips.

They are crispy but different. They are good though and better for you.

I absolutely love sweet potatoes as well. I have gotten the sweet potato chips from the store and they were good (I did have to add more salt to them). I have made them myself in the oven but not in the microwave.

My mom usually cooks sweet potato in the microwave too but not to the point where they are like chips. Just enough for them to be soft to the teeth.. How long did you keep them in there to become chips? Do share

Just cut them thin and the longer you cook them the crispier. I actually burned a few. About 5-7 minutes in there but you have to keep an eye on them.

Hi! I love food and I'm always glad to see new recipes, especially simple ones. It's because even though I absolutely love to eat, still I'm not much of a cook, lol!. I always make chips from potatoes, but sweet potatoes sounds yummy, as well as healthier! Thanks for sharing :)

I make potato chips with my microwave but haven't tried doing the sweet potatoes. I have done oven 'fries' with the sweet potatoes and they are tasty. The only thing about doing any potato in the microwave is that they have to be done in small batches. At least, that was the instruction I was reading.

Hi, Sweet potato are superb, they pack lots of essential nutrients too numerous to mention here. Making them into chips sounds great, however, my favorite is the old fashioned way of boiling them in a kettle until tender and served with "kinilaw". sometimes I would slice them into thin strips and fry them on boiling oil until crispy. That's closest to making chips of them. I have no microwave oven here so that may do.
