At this very moment i am listening to my uncle over the radio in a press conference that the liberal party have organized to settle the conflict between its members. I am disappointed of the outcome though and i could see through all the people that are there right now, including my uncle as i know him well.
The Philippine election will be next year, but i have chosen who my candidates will be in our locality as early as now. I would vote according to my principles and not according to my blood relations. I respect my uncle a lot and his decision but i couldn't vote for the person that he is endorsing, simply because i don't believe in that person's leadership.
How do you choose your leader? Do you follow your own principles or do you vote those that your relatives would tell you to?

I think to choose a leader is not because of principles that we uphold or something about blood relation. I prefer to choose a leader who have respect and able to enforce laws and order. A leader that is prioritizing the needs of the people and listen the grievances of the people.
I want a leader that consider public service must be deliver to the people and not a politician in aspect. If that person love his party more than his country. That person must not be in the government to serve but in the gang of hoodlum.
This country, never be in progress until those people in the government prioritizing to serve their own party not the people and the state.

I don't know if that is a principles but I don't want a leader who is greedy and selfish. We need a leader that really know on how to love people and consider people is part of the state. I don't like a leader that love only his/her party.
This country will never be in progress if those politicians are being loyal to their party not their own country.

As you probably know, the US is in the midst of the campaigns for a president. I am registered to vote and vote in every election whether it is for president of the states or for lesser offices. I vote for the man and not the party. I will vote for the candidate who I think will best represent my convictions, politics and outlook for the future of my country. Our election is the first Tuesday in November but I have already made up my mind as to who I shall be voting for.
Campaign workers are out in neighborhoods canvassing for votes for their party. I've considered putting a sign on my door stating that "Yes, I'm registered to vote. Yes, I will be voting. Yes, I have already made up my mind so please don't be wasting my time and your time with your campaign spiel." Think that will keep them off of my doorstep?
I do not like it when people show up and knock on my door with no prior invitation or prior telephone call or message.

they might even want to visit you more if you would post that. That might pose a challenge to them.
My professor in political science one told us about "Wednesday Morning friends." I never forgot that, so i know that Eleciton in the US is on a Tuesday.

It's so sad sometimes how relationship can be affected by political differences.
I just told my brother whom i'm going to vote and he's ok with it even though we have different political candidates.

Hi toninganzon, others have mentioned the up coming election
here in the US in November..
But the important thing to me is that everyone exercise their
right to vote..Just use good judgement and make your decision
based on what the candidate can offer you...

Hi friend, good to know about your decision and it is good too, we must select our leader based on our interest, this kind of recommendations don't have the ability to force us to choose a person. Always i cast my vote to the suitable person who is apt for the position

Yes, i like having my own decisions especially on this particular one. Though I used to be affected by what my family would say, these days I am much mature to choose who i want to lead my province.

none of my immediate family members here in metro manila are in any local, regional or national positions, but i know my parents' generation and those in their province see the benefits of "connections," including employees in big government offices, to help fast-track documents.
but for me, it would benefit us all in the long run if we all voted according to our principles and conscience. family loyalty, personal debt of gratitude, and being from the same town, has its limit. my problem now is i failed to vote in the last two elections so i might have to go to city hall to verify my status.

I have considered the right to suffrage a very important matter from the time i was at the proper age to vote. I have not missed a single one. I belong to a family of politicians for generations now. Politics is something that we discuss over dinner.

That is good that you are not basing your choice on blood relations. I guess that should be the right attitude towards choosing who your candidates. I hope there would be more like your kind of voters. I have to really still look at what the results as well in my locality. I am just lucky I have no blood relations with any politicians and my vote would not be influenced by family but from what I think is the right choice.

I have always been open to them about my political choices. The whole family is into politics. It's in the blood. I, however, have no interest whatsoever to get involved other than exercising my right to suffrage.

I do vote according to i feel deserves my vote. I could remember last 2010's Presidential Election, i voted the person i believe deserves to win and not according to popularity or to which candidate our office was endorsing ( yes they endorsed someone before) anyways, with this coming election i would do the same.

Most people are affected by the vote of popularity. I am not one of those though. I want to vote for someone who can truly be a public servant.

I follow my own principles. It's hard to find leaders, whom I admire. For the next election I have not decided yet since I don't know who will be the chosen candidates.

The filing of candidacy here is on the first of October until the fifth. However, i am already pretty much aware who are going to run for what position and from which political party they belong to. I watch the news all the time to get updated plus the fact that i get first hand information from my family as I belong to a political clan.

I never let myself be intimidated by anyone specially when it comes to choosing who to vote in the election.
I vote according to my conscience, as to who i think can really help the country, our province and our locality.
That's good Toni, choose according to your principle. I am with you on this .

It's very hard to find someone who is really a public servant. Most of the politicians nowadays are not public servants but they've made the public their own servants. Sad, but true.

I've always chosen my political candidate according to my own principles. It's a good thing that my family respects my decision and doesn't force me to vote for whom they prefer.

The best is to vote according to your conscious and your ideas and principles, although not always happens this, because there is a strong influence of the media and the groups who try to arrive to the power. They say that in our country the electors take their decission of emotional grounds and not knowing at least the government program of the candidates. Later they become disappointed because their candidate doesn't do anything that he had promised. Many times the elected candidates don't do what they have promised, because they couldn't. They make promises only to get the power. Anyway it is right to vote following your principles. Have a nice day!

Most of the candidates here are known by me, personally. Regarding media influence, i am far affected by that. Politicians who kept true to their platform are very rare. I don't listen to those. I'd rather vote someone who doesn't make promises but do their job as a public servant.

I have never liked the idea of choosing a candidate because of ones party choice. I think everyone in every single country should vote for the best one no matter what. Thats my idea.

To tell you the truth, when it comes to choosing a candidate, i often keep silent.the reason for it is that even if i give a cry , it makes no difference. So i am not enthusiasm about such things.

You don't have to tell anybody about it. You just have to cast your vote in silence. That's why there's confidentiality.
