I bought a pack of these Udon noodles from teh grocery store. It was $1.50 for a pack of 4 individual packages. I put it in a frying pan, with some mushrooms, and soya sauce. I added some steam fried noodles on top to give it a crunch. But I tried a little of these noodles and they are so good. It also makes a lot of food in one packages. Only issue I have is that the noodles are so big in size.

I had these for the first time in a soup and I really enjoyed them. They are a bit big but that's why I like them, this way I don't need many to be filling. And they are very inexpensive!

Hee hee - yah, they're kinda supposed to be that way. A lot of the ones in the packages like that are kind of "fat" - especially when it absorbs the broth. If you buy the dry kind, they will be flatter (kind of like linguine or fettuccine) but then you have to deal with making the broth (which isn't really a big deal, but it might be if you haven't done it before). You could also use the soup base packets that usually come with those individual packets if you didn't use them (but they might be kind of salty). I love udon (if you didn't know, I'm Japanese).

I think I've seen these at the store, but I don't ever get them. I like Italian foods and pastas but I usually stick to what I usually get. Udon noodles make me think of ramen and I don't like ramen, though I've never tasted it. All of that combined does sound pretty good, and a cheaper way to make some of those entrees you can get at stores that are so darn expesnive!

I get udon noodles from an international market here in the area. I don't buy the preprepared noodles. I get the dry noodles. They can be purchased in various sizes that way. I make udon noodle soup and udon noodle recipes several times a week. I love them. I start with mushrooms and onions and throw in some baby bok choy and some dashi and it is a scrumptious meal.

I have actually never had udon noodles, but I imagine that they would be a great base for preparing an entire meal for a very reasonable amount of money. We have been living on a really tight budget and because of that I've been trying a lot of new, creative ways of cooking. One thing that I like to do is to get noodles and then combine them with meat and vegetables to make a meal that will feed everyone in the family for less than five dollars, is tasty and isn't a really fattening meal to feed everyone.

I love Udon! We always alternate cooking this and spaghetti for the weekends. It is filling and my mom likes the fact that me and my siblings are able to eat vegetables when she cooks Udon.

hi Ricki yes they are large but I love the things. they do prepare some good noodle dishes here.but I liked my own cooking so much better as I could cook for my diabetes. here they pay no attention to us diabetes so we have to do for ourselves and i do too . I keep food stuffs on hand that I can use without cooking.

Oh, I love those udon noodles, and some Korean noodles which I can pronounce them. I usually bought them from the Asia supermarket, although they a bit expensive than other noodles, they are worth the price the though. I love some of those cold noodles, after you pour out the hot water, then leave it cool for a bit, add those packed sauce on them, taste really good.
