Facial expression

No matter how much make up one uses to give that glowing look to one's face the most important element I feel is our facial expression which reflects our thoughts. Bitter thoughts will have a bitter expression and so on. Have you ever given a thought to this? One needs to have happy thoughts for that glowing facial expression that no make up can buy? Your thoughts please!!

i think people need to do what feel natural. if you don't feel like smiling then you shouldn't smile. there is nothing more unattractive than a fake smile. it is natural to not be smiling when there is nothing funny, or when you don't feel well. we all can't have pleasant thoughts, or a pleasant day all the time. there is a time a place for anything. i hate this new thing where people should go around cheesing for no reason, or when they feel bad or man. i have tried that....to smile when i feel quite the opposite. i felt like and fool and it made me madder or feel worse. i only smile when there is something valid to smile for.

This is for those who are always bitter, always unhappy. Strange it may sound but it does help in that an attempt to smile makes a difference. I have known people with lots of problems but the way they face them brings a smile on their face. I wish I was like that!

Hi friend, you are right, face expressions have the ability to express our mentality, so only elders told that "Face is the index of our mind". We can find the inner thoughts easily from our face expression and know about the situation of a person. Make up don't have the ability to hide the face expressions

There are so many I see always with a sad face. Every one has problems but it does not mean that one should go about having a martyr's look.

Absolutely right , we show most of our expression on our face and its quite hard to hide . Some people that worry about their outer look are mostly the ones with ugly inner thoughts . Beauty on the inside will over flow to the outside .

The fashion houses will not quite like reading through this discussion!

Facial expressions are certainly one of those weak points of control for me. If I think it..it is normally expressed pretty clearly on my face. Being happy is better for me than any makeup. I have actually been referred to as "animated" where my facial expressions are concerned. I try to control them but it is very hard and I most often fail

From the little interaction I have had here you appear to be the happy go lucky kind. Very few people can handle challenges with a smile on their face. That's the way to go Jen...

I am a big believer in the idea that what is on the inside gets reflected on the outside. Makeup does not make the woman. I stopped using it a long time ago. Where I live it's hot and humid and after a while you just want to scrape the makeup off with your finger nails. For a while I only wore powder, lipstick and eyeliner, but after a while it all seemed tedious.

I agree, and I think makeup should be treated like any other fashion accessory, but it makes me sad to see women pile it on in very unflattering manners that ultimately either make them look cheap, or like they just escaped the circus. I think the world would depend less on makeup if women had more self-esteem.

Using make up is fine if someone wants it that way but no amount of that is going to enhance their looks if they do not have serenity within them. That is my observation. Nice to know that you depend on what goes on within you for the glow on your face!

The sad part is that once they start using make up they will not be able to give it up. One should therefore think carefully on this issue. I sometimes think about these celebrities who must be spending more hours in a saloon than with their family.

I am a bitter person rather I was a bitter person but nowadays I rarely have those attacks. :) You have seen my photograph. I dont use any make up. Not even powder. Does it mean that I am not really bitter..:)

There can be one more reason for her peace allknowing. In Telugu there is a saying "ninda munige walla ki chali emiti", meaning the one who is completely submerged in water does not feel cold. Obviously, I have some hopes. And it is that hope that ironically keeps me without that inner peace..lol

A photograph is no indication that one is bitter or not. I remember in the good old days unless we said 'cheese' the photographer did not cick! On a serious note vandana have you not seen people walking around with bitterness written on their faces. All have problems but it depends on how they tackle them and when they tackle them well they will have serenity written on their faces.

Definitely it's true. And they say that, when a person is in love-it is seen from his/her facial expression with eyes twinkling like this

I experimented that with myself by taking pictures and realised how different I look when I am all tensed up. There are a few who know how to take problems in their stride and it never shows on their face. They always look calm and serene an expression that does volumes to enhance their looks.

Hello allknowing, Nice one. I agree that facial expression makes/reflects a person. But it is not true all the time. Some people can give wondeful expressions with lot of bad thougts in their mind. I have seen many. they speak like as if we are the best mate for them. But later when we come to know, it will be hard. All I agree is the facial expressions of a child which is pure and true from heart. The thought of a baby reflects on his face. I totally agree and beleive this. My 2 cents. Cheers. Happy myLotting.

Those wonderful expressions with lot of bad thoughts will not last long phillip. It is only when one makes a concerted effort to banish those bad thoughts that one can have a serene expression which goes a long way in enhancing one's looks.

Facial expression is something that gives you away almost all the time. I say almost because I believe that if you want and you think about putting up some role, you can do it without the other knowing that it is false. If you ever watched the TV series Lie to Me, maybe you would understand better my point. To answer your question, I have always wondered about this, especially when watching the TV series mentioned above. I also have a boyfriend who is very expressive, and I can say he makes the same faces as I make. I instantly know what he's thinking just by looking at him, and most of the times I start laughing, because I'm thinking "This is so me!"

Just as, to maintain good health one has to have the insides all cleaned up, so is our mind. There is not a single person on earth who does not have adversities. Facing those challenges with calm will show on one's face and that calm enhances one's beauty. Good that you can read each other, which shows that you do not hide anything. Those momentary facial expressions are but natural but there are some who carry them all through their life and those contortions mar one's looks.

Actors, psychologists, poker-players etc. learn to control this ("Poker-face," it's not just Lady Gaga's imagination!). Sure, they learn to control it by 'putting their mind on something totally not-involved with the surroundings' (or something else); but they can FAKE the facial expression just as easily!

You have a point there but I am particularly talking of common people like you and me. We need to have happy thoughts despite the problems we are facing in our day to life and with that done, there will be a glow on our face that no amount of make up can compete with!

So true! Even if you put make up on your face to make you look good, it will not work if you possess a bad aura. :)

And for that aura, one needs to have a pure mind. A lot of work there, but worth it all the same!

I'm sure you are right, if you spend your life thinking happy thoughts it gets written on your face. If you look at older people who you know quite well it is interesting to study their wrinkles! Not too obviously of course... and you will be able to read happiness around their eyes, and frowns of misery in their foreheads. Mouths are the worst giveaway of all. I believe our characters eventually are reflected in our wrinkles.

Here is something I picked up from the Net which confirms what you have said here: http://www.sharecare.com/question/stop-facial-expressions-cause-wrinkles I had known all along that all those frowns and squints will ultimately result in those ugly wrinkles, as one gets on in age. It is an art to pick wheat from chaff. Who does not have problems? Positive thoughts are the secret to a happy face and I strongly believe in this. Here's wishing you happy thoughts Comb....

grooming is very important, it gives you confidence and looking fresh everyday.. but the natural expression of our face is more beautiful..

What according to you is natural expression? Does it not reflect your thoughts?
