I have been on Mylot for over five years now. Back when I started on here I was actually getting my friend's discussions and responses sent to my email.( Not so anymore)I was getting about 250 Mylot emails to my addy on a daily basis back then. Now I don't get them at all since early this Spring and I am lucky if i am able to find a third of the 30-50 discussions I answer bi-weekly that have been answered back to by the original discussion starter. I can't find enough work to do on here! I go to the top days, new, recent and etc. but alot of them are hard to understand, not very interesting or I am not sure what they want. I would really like to make some money. I can't seem to come up with very many good discussion topics daily, weekly or monthly so I do rely on my over 400 friends to come up with some. What has happened? Life get too exciting?, can't you think of any either?, or what? If you start a discussion why don't you answer people's responses? I try to answer each and every one because you are my friend, I respect your work on here and I expect the same thing in return. Is that too much to ask? Are people giving up on Mylot? What's up?

I think it's exactly because this site pays. some people come with the expectation of getting money, so they just create discussion to get money. they don't want to spend time managing and responding to those discussion. there's no point for them in building respect. and when they decide it's not worth it, they left.

I'm a lazy bum too, but still, i think people deserve to be treated better. at least show some courtesy to the people that spend time thinking and responding. A simple 'TQ' will do.

I have been here for about 6 years now, but I only recently returned to the site after a long while away from it. It had not actually occurred to me until I noticed this post just how much Mylot has changed. Now I find myself in agreement with much of what you say. If I select friends' discussions then they mostly appear to be from just one person, but of course many of them may have drifted away from Mylot as I did. However, the discussions from my interests seem rather sparse or uninspiring, which should not be the case with new members appearing to replace old bygone members. I do try checking the "new user" section and "recent", but people seem to be so eager to post that there are vast amounts of mediocre discussions to wade through in order to find a worthwhile topic. This is not intended as a criticism of anyone, but it certainly makes it difficult. Fortunately I am not too concerned about the earnings, although I would rather find good discussions easily.

hi asylum and celticeagle how come then that I always get at least 20 responses on all my own discussions if all our discussions are mediocre? I have never not had a response on any of my discussions.

I didn't say your discussions were mediocre. If you look on some interests there are one right after another of nonsensical discussions by people I have never heard of.

The mediocre discussions are vast that's for sure. And many go days with no responses. Good discussions is what we need more of.

I have the same problems before myLot having run time error, I ask GAA about it and I'm glad that it really work out that I can receive it now. I have lots of notification in my myLot folders as it going into thousand, I don't know if I can manage to sort it out in just one day and try to dig interesting topic to respond to. I admit sometimes I can't go back to some of my discussion specially when I'm out of the internet world and busy with my offline life but surely I will get back on that un-responded comments of my friends soon I'm not busy with my life.

I follow up GAA twice before my notification back, maybe just be patient, I have also have hard time before when I don't have them in my mail going back and forth on the home page takes a lot of time to waste.

I think that there are many reasons and one of them, as rocket said, is Facebook. Another could be that we are getting older while the average age of the newer Lotters is much lower and we can't relate to their topics? Many of the newer Lotters, especially the younger ones, don't seem to want to ebgage in a discussion with losts of back and forth comments. Well the younger generation doesn't do that anymore offline either. It's all about status and quick texts and no real in-depth conversations like we used to have. Many f our friends are missing and hopefully will be back as winter draws closer and they ar no longer outside. Oh, about your non-existing notifers - have you tried changing your email here? I'm sure you have another one that you could use and it doesn't matter if it is not the same as your Paypal address as the two are not related. Maybe changing it mught start the notifiers off again

I so agree! I do think that there are alot of younger folks on here. And alot that just use this as a spot to get referrals as their profile depicts. Yes, the younger ones don't seem to have a gift of the gab as us older folks do. No depth any more in the world it would seem. On a personal basis anyway. Yes, several of my favorite responders are gone and have been for quite awhile. I hope they are just busy with their lives. I have heard that gmail worked best and I guess I could try that. I just am so used to coming to this one it would be one more thing I'd have to remember. I am having trouble with the remembering part of it all.lol

If you change your email, and you start receiving notifiers again, you could then change it back to your ususal mail and see what happens. I had the same problem some years back and I fixed it by changing for a few days and then going back to the original mail - and it fixed the problem.

here we go again celticEagle something wiped out my whole response and sent me to another page ggrrrr.i have the opposite problem of more notifications than I can possibly answer. I have read a lot of other mylotters have also not got their notifications. maybe you all should hit contact and notify mylot admins you are not receiving your notifications. I also find some discussions are hard to know what they want.I think a lot of new people just play here,do not make much as they are not reading all the info mylot offers them so do not earn and so they leave.good riddance as the few discussions they make are hard to answer and impossible to understand.

I use MSN and my notifications aren't working. I also tried the contact tab at the bottom and there were specific notifications for admin..I couldn't type my own in. None of them matched my issue. I was hoping it would work itself out but I am going to keep trying to contact them.

Have you updated your account to check for the notifiers to go out? You might message GAA to see if he can help if it's a glitch of some kind. Mine work fine. I'm not as active on here because there are few discussions that are actually discussions anymore. The discussions are more diary posts. I comment on those I can say something. There are folks making 40 or more discussions a day and most of them I just skip because they are not real discussions.

hi pointlessquestions I also are getting my notifiers so m any I am overwhelmed at time. those who make a whole slew of discussions a lot will be deleted for s ure. I cannot see how anyone could make 40 in one day as they will not not be able to post comments back to people.they must be]pretty sorry kinds of posts.

Well lately it is hard to keep up in here with all my health issues these days, but I continue to do what I can. But there are times it is hard to find discussions that are worth responding back too so that often means checking out interests etc as well.

I think they really have a problem with their system. It is sporatic, here is a thought you have your favorite mylots why not check out their profile each day and you will see what you have missed.

I am going thru the same thing on here, I been a member for 3 yrs and I have 55 friends and only find that 2 of my friends our the only ones that have been posting lately. I think some people just got 2 busy for mylot and left. I try to post when I have something to talk about but if I don't then I don't worry about it because I don't want to sound stupid in a discussion. I hope things pick up here soon because I to find there's not much to respond to for discussions and I haven't made pay out in over 6 months. If things don't pick up I'll just stop coming here again I took a break for a year because of no discussions and just came back recently. Good luck to you and I hope things start picking up on your end as well.

Blondie: We have not met earlier. If your friends postings are not received in mail nothing prevents us from going to discussions -- topic wise, friend wise, date wise and answer them/post responses/comments. We can post comments on others responses also in others discussions. I am able to make out payout for the last few months regularly. But I spend minimum two hours every day on this.

I've kind of been wondering the same things, celticeagle. For over two days now, I've been checking all of the tabs and coming up with the same conclusions. I suspect that a partial reason is that the population goes down in the summertime. Things will pick up come winter and everyone is more housebound. I've considered starting my own discussion(s) but apparently my biorhythms are at a low point, especially the mental and I can't gather up my thoughts very well.

i am having the opposite problem , I am getting too much inbox email . I dont necessary only reply to my friends discussion I come here and look under my interest for something . i notice someone mention Facebook and Facebook also does pay indirectly because you can promote your other things on there and also socialize more with similar people . I am on both site everyday , I do so much , I keep in touch with my friends there and I came here to join in on various discussion since nothing like that really happen on Facebook unless you are in a group . I dont think your friends leave mylot to go on Facebook maybe to invest more time in something else online are they all out of topics. II also depend on mylot members to start discussion because I rarely start any .

Overall, I have made a few dollars here once in awhile. I can sell crafts on etsy, sell items from my home on facebook, etc. etc. Most people did not come here to earn money, but rather to converse with people (at least that's how it is with me). On Facebook, I have reconnected with friends from high school and even penpals in other parts of the world that I would NEVER have found any other way. You may not believe that this is the reason, but I'm betting that I'm CERTAINLY not the only one! Facebook is an international phenomenon. That's fact, not just my opinion.

I have been gone for awhile.. but I am back now;-) Yes I respond to everyone that posts something on my discussions... Its a way to keep the converstation going.. There is a main discussion but when others respond there usually is more to talk about... which creates dialog.. which is extremely good on here.. getting to know one another and figuring out new discussions that can be interesting to your friends and possibly new friends...

Well now you see your not alone with this one at all. Most of us are thinking the same thing! I know I am too. I will be starting more discussions soon, life has just been a little hectic for me with Home Schooling my daughter. But I will be back soon to start new discussions. =) I have been finding only a few a day to respond to that really get my interest going. Other than that, I am not finding much but I will be focusing a lot on my own discussions soon as I post again. I miss being here full time but I am getting the hang of the new schedule with my daughters schooling.

We must have joined at the same time. I went through about the same thing here recently. What I've found is just like I had stopped being as active my friends have done so as well. Yes, many have gone to FaceBook, but other than that life happens, and just because we come back doesn't mean that they will drop everything and come back too. The best way to remedy this is to start friending once again. Post a few articles and friend everyone who responds that isn't already your friend. Go to your friends discussions who are active and friend their responders to their posts that you agree with. The key here is to get more active people in your friends list, so you can get the discussion emails that you are used to.

It took me over 5 years to reach my first payout here on mylot. It's simply because I'm not here often at all. I find it hard to know what to post. There seem to be too many stipulations. I tried doing a daily post about the crafts I was working on each day. I got called names, asked what I was smoking, and just downright told but a few that my posts weren't allowed. I guess you have to actually ask a question in your post. I didn't know that and thought others would just follow suit with replies on what they had been working on as well. Every time...at least that I am aware of....I have already replied back to replies on the posts I have put in. Marsha

Five years?! Sounds like you got in with some bad types. Sad they have those on here. I am very careful who I even tell about this site. You set up your discussion as a discussion, not questions. Then at the end you can ask some questions. So many Mylotters get their discussions deleted because they just ask questions.

I don't know what happened with mine. Glitches could of caused it to happen in the beginning anyway. I am still getting the glitches occasionally but not as much as I was. And I am getting my notifications back now since i changed my address. Now I have to go back and forth because most of my important emails goes to the other one. Ugh!

Probably less of my friends start discussions now, but there are still quite a number of responses and comments that people still make. Maybe people are discouraged from starting discussions because it's so easy to fall foul of the rules and get your discussion deleted - one needs to mylot search a subject in Discussions to make sure they aren't duplicating discussions that are already there, particularly now that mylot has been going for some time.
