Another rotten day

I wrote last week that Ping was sick. Well, it turned out he had FIP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feline_infectious_peritonitis FIP is fatal... and he was already failing. All we can hope is that it hasn't spread to the rest of the kids. So, sadly, we sent Ping to the Bridge. I hope he's not too upset because his brother isn't with him. I stayed with him to the end. So, if I don't respond to this discussion or the other one, please understand, I didn't expect to lose Ping today, or to get such bad news.

Does this mean your other cats may get it too? I hope not. You are having a rough year with your furbabies.

Ping may not have his brother Pong there at the bridge, but at least Solo will be there and happy to see him. My condolences.

Pong is fine, if we had lost Pong I think Ping would've been upset, because Ping was always more needy about Pong than Pong was about Ping.

I don't want to bring in any more cats or kittens until I know if he gave it to any of the others.

I'm so sorry Elic. It's such a shock when things like this happen so fast. I know you know he's much better off and without pain right now. At least he went with you by his side which I'm positive made him a little more comfortable. Again, I'm really sorry to hear this.

I don't expect a response but want you to know how sorry I am that you had to send Ping on ahead of you. He's happy now, at least, and nothing can ever hurt him again. So often, our last act of love is the most painful to us.

I'm so sorry Elic! I hope and pray all the other kitties are going to be alright and you don't have to lose another one of your babies to this awful infection. You can take all the time you need off mylot, I don't think anyone would fault you for it!

ElicBxn, I am sorry. Many of us here have been where you are now. And I know this isn't the first nor will it be the last. You have my deepest sympathy. I wish I could say more. But the Bridge is a happy place and he's with Solo now. Small comfort, I know. I truly hope the other babies are all right. It's good that you were with him. I know you wouldn't have it any other way. Again, I'm so sorry.

Spruce goose Elic! Another disease I've never heard of.... I'm so sorry sweetie! But you have to know you did Ping a huge favor by sending him over the bridge because he won't suffer any longer. He knew you loved him and he certainly loved you. That's all that matters sweetie. Love and knowing he's at peace thanks to you.

Oh, Elic, I'm so sorry that you've lost Ping. I know all too well what you are going through. I've been there too many times. Please know that you and Ping's little family are in our thoughts. I don't know what I'd do if I lost mine. God bless all of you.

So sorry about Ping. I was wondering how he was. I hope the others are okay, but I guess all you can do is wait.
