I was in National radio today that I thought started out as a joke, it started out when a certain Jay Luna( coordinator) called me up and told me that " Radyo Inquirer" ( the same people who brought us the famous Inquirer newspaper, channel 5 and radyo inquirer) took notice of an ad/write up I made about survival bracelets that i made and sold as a hobby. Thought it was another scam call till I checked on the internet and decided to give it a go and went to their new building in Pasong Tirad in Makati, Lo and Behold I was really expected , Wow! 45 minutes of air time to promote my product!, the news anchors were Den Macaranas ( Head of News Department of Inquirer) and country's top bloggers Noemi Lardizabal Dado and Ricky Rivera! OMG! I was petrified at first but decided this is my chance so i just fired away in the course of the program.
I was thinking of informing my friends here at Mylot before the actual schedule so you can hear me speak but I held back cause deep inside I was thinking " what if these is a scam" LOL. So have you have a similar experience? This is really something and I still can't make myself believe this has happened

Congratulations, my friend! I am SO proud for you, of you!!! You know, when a something awesome happens to a very dear friend, we feel that we are a little part of that. I suppose it is because it touches our heart. I am glad that you had this special opportunity and I`m glad that what you are making and selling are survival bracelets. It all sounds so positive in this world where the only people that get interviewed nowadays are the ones that tell about catastrophes. Take care and bless!

hi yoyo, the idea of making bracelets from parachute cords is not a new or original idea and lots and lots of people are making it already especially in the U.S. so no need to have it patented. I think the Philippines is rather late in grasping the idea of the importance of having a strong rope at your disposal but at the same time be fashionable.

Hatley my friend, those parachute cords have been with us since WWII and they had been used by preppers around the world not excluding California where everybody seems to be preparing for " the big one". As far as the Philippines is concerned, I would agree that it's really a new gadget and concept and so far is known only to quite a few, besides thinking of being famous, ahemhaha.... think it's becoming just like a personal crusade for me to make Filipinos aware and at the same time serves as a vent for my latent and dormant artistic talents.

Thanks and happy mylotting.

yep if I had not been reluctant to share the time and date of the program in advance then I may have given a more in depth insight of the product especially for Filipinos. I posted in Sulit ( the same one that caught their attention) but I cannot give a link since i would be violating Mylot Guidelines, so it's good you just make your own search there as to it's merits and limitations

Congratualtions! I have not been a victim of that kind of scam but was interviewed for about 5 minutes on the Italian radio station and also called an English radio station to make a comment a couple of times.

I was only nervous at first but it became very relaxing and pleasant as it went on, thanks to the hosts who really made me feel at home. I was small time local politician when i was in my early 30's so i'm a little bit used to public speaking but not on radio.

Cool! Can you give an idea what a survival bracelet is? I also make bracelets and necklaces as a hobby which are made of synthetic glass beads.

hi belle. actually paracord survival bracelets are not your ordinary bracelet that are made just for fashion or accessory, they are fashionable and are very pretty indeed but in times of emergency, they could be unraveled into a strong cord that has a breaking point of 550lbs or 250kg. it's new in our country but has long been popular around the world especially for preppers (like me)

My dad was seeking for compensation for his affiliation to the US forces way back war time. He was old and desperate, it had been a lifetime of waiting for a promise from good old Uncle Sam, for it was pure brother helping on brother, when he enlisted to fight imperial Japan, and my dad fought for America's war, given a small sheet of paper that would show later on that if ever America wins, he will be paid for helping. Alas, the promise remained a promise for a lifetime, thus, I brought my dad to that very radio program, at Pasong Tamo? (Tirad Pass is where Gen Greg del Pilar made a last stand to protect Prez Emil Aguinaldo, against the American in 1898?, ha ha, is there some irony here?), and my dad explained to that lady broadcaster his plight, and I was asked to read my dad's letter of plea. My cuz from Cavite heard me and my dad and my mom, and she said my voice and my enunciation and diction was real good. Carrying my own bench, am I not? But then you asked, louie. It was a confidence boosting experience, wasn't it. Hope you'd succeed in your endeavor. Opportunities to disseminate what we are passionate about comes when we least expect it. I hope there were equally interested sould who heard you, and would help you in your cause. Hey, you should have told us, I would have been excited to hear a virtual friend on radio.

hi, sorry to hear that my friend, so was your dad was a regular in the USAFFE ( United States Armed Forces in the Far East) or in some irregular guerilla force? I'm sure you did a good job with your diction as most educated Filipinos are expected to do ( unlike in money game shows LOL!) So what happened?
It's a pity that lots of my friends missed my convincing angelic voiceif I may carry my own bench myself LOL! Seriously Eileen, my experience was a bit pleasant, I was expecting these guys to be really witty so after I got all the butterflies from my tummy I just sort of programmed my self to match them without sounding arrogant. Here are some excerpts:
I was explaining about my rapid deploy bracelet that was not as beautiful but more practical, compared to my single and double cobra weave, I said "I carry the Rapid in my bag while I wear the beautiful bracelets in my wrist that you can even wear in the bar" when the main anchor blurted out " Mr Louie, how many girls have you convinced with your bracelet?" so I answered " sssh.. my wife is listening to your program" so everybody started laughing.
If you noticed on my picture, I am wearing a pace counter or ranger beads necklace that military, rangers, bounty hunters etc... wore long before there was satellite global positioning, I explained that it had beautiful plastic " skull beads" similar to what special forces wear and I created a lock made from upcycled bullet shell casing buttons, when one of the anchors suddenly blurted " can you use real human sculls?"LOL! so I answered back " the Predator did that already in the movie" ( the movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger) I think that was when the radio program ended.

Hello louievill, Congratulations you get to be on radio and I must say most people listen to the radio. when is this going to air? I might check it up on the radio station since radyo inquirer is hook up mostly with FM radio stations instead of AM stations. You should attend the mylot conference on the 13th and tell the others all about it hough hahaha

Ah this is how it looks like, there are numerous colors and combinations available and possible and this is just and example. It's already in use around the world but it seems that we Filipinos are rather late, the experience in the radio station was different though cause I did not expect my simple effort would reach that far.

Hi,
Congratulations for getting chance on national radio. You got chance to meet many celebrities so must feel very proud. It is very important stage in your progress. I don't have such experience in my life. I am a retired person and I was doing a job in a well known steel company. it was a respectful job.

It helped me a lot to sell a lot of what i make and find people who would like to resell with my whole sale price. Steel? oh one thing i do is buy steel scraps, yes steel helps industries so that is very respectful job

wow congratulations, this is one of a kind experience that others may envy you including me LOL. anyway, since I'm here in La Union I could not listen to that radio station because of (course) my location. By the way I'm really curious about your survival bracelet which you said you wrote. Can i have the link of your article or did you wrote it in here at mylot?

as i said i cannot post a link since i would be violating Mylot guideline rules of promoting but my items are on our local site sulit so just make a search and find me there and more important the merits of the product that may be of some help to our people especially to a natural calamity prone country like the Philippines.
Your location may not be of any hindrance. it's a major station that also owns Philippine daily inquirer and I think channel 5, I seldom or never listen to am stations but this experience would make me have a change of mind, they have live streaming, so some of my friends saw me on their pc http://www.dziq.am/home/
I also started a discussion about paracord bracelets prior to the radio stint that unfortunately only got 1 response

Wow that's nice! I know Inquirer is reaching out to our local craftsmen of any trade. This is indeed a very good opportunity for Filipinos to expose their craft. Congratulations on this one!
Way back 2008, Our band was interviewed on NU107 for some annual nationwide band contest...

yep, I really hope so, well it's just a side line and something i really enjoy doing while earning a little. I hope the bright future would be for all of us Filipinos, have a change from our " bahala na " (come what may) attitude to an attitude of readiness and preparedness to challenges that may come our way.
