A Stinky Odor

I get my daily dosage on internet surfing and mylotting in an internet cafe. While commencing my internet usage, I smell a very stinky odor. At first, I cannot really trace the source of that odor. I started sniffing my clothes, the keyboard, even the person beside me . Then after sniffing some random things, I figured that the source of this stinking smell is the mouse pad in the internet cafe. I think the odor was the result of random people using the computer and some perspire and the sweat are absorb by the mouse pad. It really is a stinky situation . Do you have some similar experience in the internet cafes?

Ewwwww :/ I had this too when I was in an emergency of printing out some documents near my office (when I applied way back) but of course you know it's a public comp. shop. Even if you complain to the attendants, you're not sure if they'd take it positively or will just tell you to find a diff. shop then.. (you know how some shop/store owners behave lol) Piece of advice, buy a mouse pad :D bring it daily at least you're sure you are safe :))

Yeah, you have a good point that those attendants will just ignore you. I also notice that some players here bring their own mouse, mouse pad and headsets.

It happens, plainly the place is an internet shop. If the place lack of ventilation, then we expect the place will have a foul odor. Have a great day!

Hi there. I am all too familiar with the situation you mentioned here. For a few years now, I have been "in-charge" of my mom's internet shop. And boy, I have also noticed the mouse pad getting smelly and sweaty, along with other irritating instances regarding clients. Most of the time, this happens when the DOTA players, who are mostly male clients, get so engrossed with their game that their palms get sweaty. Being the one in charge, I couldn't possibly restrict them from using the pad; but sometimes they are the ones who'll request that the mouse pad be removed instead. And then, there's also the case of "undisciplined" clients throwing pieces of trash or paper under the table. It isn't easy to notice specially when I am busy encoding or printing, downloading, scanning or doing other services we offer. Anyway, I guess it's a great and better idea if you could save some cash to buy a laptop instead. That way, you will have easier access and personal use of the computer. Regards.

I noticed that at an old job I used to work at. It was a call center and we all shared the computers and boy would the mouse pads start to stink after a while. I think your right about it being from sweat. Either way its pretty gross when your trying to work or just surf the net. I never go to those internet cafe's I prefer to save my money and buy a laptop that I can use and I have not been sorry since I got it. Im the only one that uses it and it does not require a mouse pad so no smelly mouse pad for me.

Believe it or not, I haven't used an internet cafe. The closest to it was the business center of hotels when I'm out of town or out of the country. But I think I have a very clear idea of you've experienced. I could actually smell the stench already . Personally, I think it's the duty of the store to keep their place clean, and that includes ridding the place of bad odors. These odors are caused by bacteria and thus may have adverse effects on people. It's also a sign that the place has sanitary issues and may be breaking some sanitation laws.
