I have never had a nickname, so when my Greek husband gave me one I was quite flattered. It didn't mean anything to me but it sounded so cute the way he said it. Eventually the day came when he learned to translate it into English. He was calling me 'his little dung beetle.' He explained that it was my business that reminded him of this particular beetle, but I ceased to appreciate my nickname after that. Have you ever been given a nickname, and did you like it?

Yes, a good friend of mine thought of Silvana Pampanini when she heard my name, so she nicknamed me La Pampa! Soon everybody kept calling me Pampa but most thought that it had something to do with the Pampas in Argentina, just because I came from a South American country! It was a strange name, but I always liked it!

yes I was called princess by my father, and then more recently catlady because I used to have so many cats. I didn't mind either nickname.

I am more comfortable with my nickname than with my real name. It is just half of my real name, but everyone I love calls me like that. I don`t know about the way your nickname sounds in Greek, but I would center my thoughts in the posesive.

Yes, I they have given me nicknames too. Most of them are close to my name. Some given by my Korean manager before. There is one I made myself and I think it's an Spanish word for naughty. Lol. I think your nickname is cute. Would you mind giving the Greek translation?

Does it count if I thought of it myself? I was using it as an online nickname and as it is funny, it stuck. Some friends call me by this.

A nickname should sound similar to your real name, yet it is very simple and easily pronounced so that people in the house does not find a hard time calling you with a longer real name.It is a practice by many they are asking the meaning of their names, that is why a book was published just to enlightened people the meaning of their own name.

My given name is Heather and it has been the source of a few nicknames, of course this reminds me of unflattering ones. I guess one funny one is the fact that my grandfather raised beef cattle, and my cousin could not say Heather, but called me Hefver which sounds so much like heifer.

Yes dear friend... I have many nicknames.. Here my username is also my nick name. My paternal families used to call me by another nick name and maternal families with another one. Again, my villagers called me with another name and friends with another one. Thus i have gained more than 7 nicknames. have a nice time.

When I was in High School my friends and classmates call me "chenut". Taken from my name Gretchen and from a male classmate's family name whom we always make fun of. I like to be called by that name though i find it funny and cute. And until now those High School friends still call me with that nickname.
