Hello Everyone! I am turning 21 this October 25, and I still have a lot of pimples on my face. I think had them since I was 9 or 10 years old. I have tried numerous medications, commercial, herbal, and even unorthodox ways of curing this but everything fails. I cannot forget how my classmates would tease me in various ways because of my acne. How about you guys, how did you handle your acne problems? And you ladies/girls, will you ever have a relationship with a guy who has a lot of facial acne? :(

When I was in high school, I never had a pimple. I don't use soap for my face, just plain water. Well, except when I am taking a bath. Meaning, I only use soap once a day for my face. I don't know if having no pimples has something to do with that no-soap thing. I studied college in a much colder place compared to ours and there my pimples came out on my forehead. They're too many and I worried too much. I just let it be that way and didn't use any harmful soaps or whatever. Is your face oily or dry? What are those that you tried? I cannot really recommend something to you that I have tried myself. I would like to know what are those herbal things that you applied to your face. If you don't mind me asking.

Try washing your face every now and then so as to make it dry. Use soaps for oily skin. Try products from Mary Kay if you have it there in your country or use any astringent with acid. I am not actually sure what kind of acid is that. If I got home, I will reply again.

My face is oily ever since, I have tried tons of treatment, mostly were the ones recommended by dermatologists that we have consulted. Then, the herbal or natural remedies are the ones usually promoted on TV, like lemon, ice, baking soda, cucumbers, etc. I have even tried Roaccutane, one of the most popular, effective and expensive treatment for acne, however after a year my acne just returned. I don't want to take accutane again, not only because it's expensive but it has a lot of side effects. You'll have to undergo various examinations like liver checkup etc. before you can take that medication, and continuous monitoring of your liver etc. while your taking it. I guess, I'll just have to wait lol...

I guess you have it in your genes but you can still try out some medications. If you have tried it already then i guess I really have nothing to say. I would just be me. I will wait for the person who will just love me. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

Yes you are right, I have it in my genes because in my father's family, most of them had acne as well. Anyway, I am just a bit sad because like I have said earlier, I had acne since I was very young. I guess you're right, I'll just have to wait...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I had acne into my forties. I have heard that drinking water is good for your skin. If you're not already, you might try that. One thing about it, because I have oily skin, now in my sixties, I don't look like a wrinkled prune.

I am 29 and still have acne. At least I don't have much longer to go I hope! I have been drinking lots of water and that is helping. Also try not to pick at them. I know that is easier said than done but you can avoid infecting them if you leave them alone.

If you have had pimples since you were a small child then the problem could be your diet. Eat plenty of fruit and drink lots of water, that might help. Take hope from me, I was called 'spotty face' when I was a teenager and I remember to this day the girl who called me that. So I know how hurtful it can be. Later on I got a nice skin which shows no scars except one chicken pox crater behind my ear. I had a friend who had terrible spots and I advised him to rinse his face every night in salty water. He used table salt and left it slightly undissolved so that he could very gently rub his face. It worked. Nice new skin, no expense and no scars. Good luck.

Hi. Don't feel bad. I'll be 21 in February and I still kind of struggle with it from time to time myself. I tried various acne washes from the stores and they did nothing for me. Then I tried Proactiv (which I would suggest to you if you haven't tried it already). It worked for a while but it didn't make my skin as clear as I wanted it to be. I was about to try SkinID since there are different creams/facials for different types of skin types & they find the one that's best for you. (I would also try that one too). However, my mom decided to take me to a dermatologist about 2 years ago. I can say that was THE BEST DECISION EVER!!! My face has cleared up and I rarely ever get a breakout now unless I'm being lazy and don't use my medicine properly or if its that time of the month for me. :) Otherwise, I don't have a huge problem with it. I would also suggest maybe talking to your primary physician and see what they tell you first. I went to mine and they recommended my dermatologist I go to now. I hope that helps you in your journey. As for the relationship part, I probably would still date someone with facial acne. It's a part of life and what most people go through. I've went through some pretty bad phases myself and still dated so I would not be that shallow to say I wouldn't date someone with acne. If anything, I would just try to help them clear their acne. Good luck to you! :)

i haven't experienced having acnes when i was growing up, usually i can only get one pimple but my older sister she used to experienced having lots of pimples on her face during her adolescence, also her face is very oily.then she went to the dermatologist and the derma prescribed her soap and astringent for the acne problems and after continuosly using it, her pimples have disappeared and her face has become clear. did you try going to the dermatologists? maybe the derma can look on your problem and suggest and prescribe ways to cure the acne problem. now my sister has not had acne. or you could try using a facial scrub maybe 3 times a week, once a day, or wash your face with facial wash 2 times everyday morning and night and clean it with a facial cleanser to truly remove the dirt because sometimes even if we have already washed our face, the dirt cannot be truly removed. just learn and make it a habit to truly clean your face, to eliminate dirt and get rid of pimples. this is what i do and i really don't have and develop pimples. if a guy has lots of acne, it can look untidy on his face but this can be eliminated overtime if he makes it a habit to clean his face. also what is important is a good character and personality of the person.

As what you are describing it here, I can really presume that you have a lot of those. As for me, I do have some pimples now but not as bad before when I was still in high school. I just tend to wash my face with an anti-bacterial soap and when it comes to creams and medications, I don't take those. I think drinking a lot of water will also lessen your pimples and also eating a lot of fruits and veggies.

Maybe it's high time you consult a dermatologist? Sometimes self-medication can even aggrevate the pimples and instead of curing them it might even make it worse. Sometimes, it's also poor diet or hygience or hormones. To really determine which, there's no other person who can assess your problem better than a specialist.
