Another train ride

Tomorrow my disabled son has an appointment at the hospital 25 miles away. We will take the train for 45 minutes and then a 20 minute bus journey. That hospital is situated to the north of Bristol and so it is more tricky to get to than the children's hospital in the center of the city.
By train is very much my favorite way to travel. I enjoy looking out of the window and seeing the passing scenery. I can travel quite cheaply because I have a Friends and Family Railcard. On Saturday it was stressful waiting for the train because it was running 25 minutes late. I rushed onto that train with my disabled son's wheelchair knowing time was of the essence. As soon as we got to Bridge Water I was shocked to see it didn't have an elevator. I had to carry my disabled son over the footbridge and a lady carried his wheelchair. I asked a taxi driver if he could take us to the bus station where we would get the coach. I was so lucky my disabled son's wheelchair fitted in the boot of the taxi.
Do you like traveling by train?
Have you ever had a discount rail card or a train pass?
Did you ever wait for a delayed train?

I've never traveled by train, only for a dinner and scenic tour. I've ridden the bus before and they run whether you are or not. There is an app that can tell you when a bus is supposed to arrive. It helps if you might be waiting for a long time. When buses are late there is nothing you can do about it. Glad you made your appointment.

Hi Max,
I go to work by train everyday, I prefer this than driving coz it saves a lot of time, money and stress . My husband drops me off the train station near our place and it's just 30 minutes train ride to my work. My office is just a walking distance from the station where I get off. And yes, I do have transport discount card, here we call it TAP card (Transit Access Pass). It's an annual pass provided to workers/employees at a discounted rate. The TAP card allows access to all the Metro train and buses without paying extra. Delayed train? Yes, I guess it's inevitable, specially if you ride everyday. Incidents and accidents happen and you get used to it eventually.
