The Supreme Court recently issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the controversial Republic Act 10175 or popularly known as Cyber crime Prevention Act of 2012 Now what do you think of it now?

Hi, They should get their acts together. Criminals are having a field day already and adding this law does not make it any better. Why, it looks like they are only covering their discrepancies and we are made to suffer for it (libelous statements aside).

The hard part is proving to the Supreme Court justices that RA 10175 is unconstitutional. It's hard because even if the questioned provisions are pretty obvious, the law's opponents still have to explain why. Added to that is they have to counter the arguments of the law's proponents. It's because no matter how unconstitutional a law is, the person who alleges its unconstitutionality must prove it. And that means arguing with RA 1075's proponents, no matter how flimsy the latter's arguments are. I hope it gets declared unconstitutional.

Well I think SC now see the necessity for them to review the law itself because of some shady provision in the law itself. But I think it just needs to be amended for it but not totally repealed. I think if you would try to understand it, it is solely targeted to people who commit criminal acts on the net. So I think the law is just timely since we are in the age where internet is used by almost everybody now and to date there are many criminals who operate their schemes online already and the law answers to protect us innocent users of the net. If there is something in the law that impedes freedom of speech then I think that provision should just be amended so as not to violate the constitution. But I believe we need this law for our protection as well.

They are crazy. Why they passed a law without checking any discrepancies inside. It takes more days to revised it and need another budget for them to recheck it. Most of them considered themselves as smart specially if they talk about bills and laws. Why they didn't found out several mistakes. Better to oust them all from their recent position

I think it would really be great for them to devise the act on the perspective of an average person who surfs the internet, making blog and downloading videos and audios in order for them to really come up with a law that is best suited for all of us who does not engage in illegal and criminal acts via internet.

The good news is that a TRO has been issued. But that isn't the end of the Cyber Crime Law. The real work begins now: revealing the unconstitutionality of the law itself.
