When I am in grade school I am such an easy go lucky person and even in high school. Sometimes I don't really care of competition in school but sometimes I do get challenge specially if you have a classmate that keeps on saying on your face, " See I am better than you in many ways?" There are times I don't do my projects in school or don't care to impress my teacher and make me one of the teacher's pet. In short I really hate competition though sometimes I am challenged to join. But for me , I just enjoy doing things around with no plans to outshine or outwit another person. I am not very competitive really, I just want to have fun at times. Do you get tired of competition with other people like you are doing your best but they will accomplish 3 times greater in what you accomplish. You compete with them but it's like you are just killing yourself?

I hate competition. In my life, I have only joined 2 competitions. Once was during my highschool days it is a quiz bee in economics. The other I was already working, it is hoolahoop competition. It was really not my intention to join but I won both. Honestly, I will never go for a competition if I knew myself that I am losing it or there's a little chance of winning. I am not really amazed if there's a huge prize or gift I would get if I won. I just don't like competing. But later in my life I realized that there are competitions that whether you want to join or not, you're in. Like this competition between me and my in-laws LOL I just woke up one morning and realized that. Kind of stressful as I really hate it and I don't think that I should have to do that so I am doing my best to get out of this. With regards to your post, I also don't like putting myself in the limelight only to show them I am a loser or to help them prove that they are better than me. But I do think that competition aren't really bad. It is really up to the person how are you going to accept things. It's like life itself, you don't win all the time. But if you see this positively, it can help and motivate you to be a better person.

Well sometimes I try to join competition and it can be fun too, but to care all about competition in my entire life can be exhausting.

I have to agree. I think that people who only care about competing in their whole life will never be contented. That life must be so tiresome.

I not like to quit I am always ready to accept the challenges and to make the competition with others. I remember I was the winner of Chess and 20 persons was there for playing the chess. I was the final winner. I played total with 5 persons.

Well, we like competition and its fun to compete after all but its okay to accept defeat when it comes. It's fun to compete, it makes us proud of ourselves, making us feel special, actually pushes our own limits.

When I was younger I was a lot more competitive than I am now, and I will admit that it got quite tiring for me at times. One of the bad things about being that way was that you always think that you're not as good as other people and that you need to work a lot harder to be able to get to that stage. Eventually, it got to the point where I had to stop and think about it because it was spoiling some of my friendships. I am much more happier living life the way that I do now, because I don't feel as though I am under pressure as much to achieve things as I might have been in the past.

Very true, Sometimes we feel we are under pressure and why are we pressuring ourselves by the way , what is the point?

I am just the quiet type of person. I do the best I can, not to impress anyone but to make myself feel good about it. But I think I had one experience in College wherein almost the whole class was terrified with our professor and the fear got into them that it has become difficult for them to concentrate on that subject and pass the quizzes and exams. Not to brag, but I did quite well in that subject. Bad it may seem but the whole class thought I was the "genius", which I was not. But it did push myself to strive harder coz I didn't want them to think that I couldn't maintain my high grades.

That is great, sometimes fear can be a good motivation . I had similar experience, I just do my best with no plans to impress but just because I am so afraid to fail.

Hi averygirl! I think competing with ourselves is one of the best competition to engage with. This could be in relation to our own personal development. You see we can be the best among our peers, but can we say that we really are? Let me share to you my son's experience, I asked him one day, how are you doing in school? He said oh I got the highest grade mama. Wow you are so good, I told him. He said, I don't think so, my classmates are just not that very good. I actually learn from that. What is it. To avoid competing with others but competing with myself. How? If I do this well this day, I would try my best to do better the following day. So, I am not involving anybody but myself on the competition. At the end of the day, I could tell to myself, "you perform well today better than yesterday." I hope I have made some enlightenment on the discussion. Thank you for creating this very post. I really appreciate this one. Have a nice day!

Well, children really love to compare themselves with their classmates and when they do better it gives them a good feeling, a proud feeling but that is just right. It makes us feel special. There is nothing wrong with that. We could just compete with our own selves and it can be fun too. See example for me I just type 10 words per minute but now I type 30 words per minute. Isn't that great!

So right, we cannot always have fun in life. Its better to compete with oneself and to always outdo yourself from years ago.

I usually don't quit any competition because I have a tenacious attitude. I know that some people will quit if they think they are going to lose but I'd rather finish the game and be rewarded for my effort, win or lose. I might mow people over trying to win and that's something I'll have to work on in the future. I don't think you should play any competition if you don't want to win or lose.

Well sometimes in joining a contest or a game competition we all like to win and that is a healthy competition. Like example, American Idol but what competition I hate is that there is no really prize in the end or there will be no clear winner in the end.

I am similar to you , I care little about competition in high school and even about doing some project . I dont care about out shining others as long as I am having fun . If someone should say I cant do something then ill do it because I can do anything I set my mind to .

me too, I am an easy go lucky person, but when In competition, I always do my best. When I won the championship rounds on our quiz bees in high school, I felt blessed because god knew that I strove hard to win. but, don't take it more seriously, I mean have yourself relaxed but always do your best to get in the competition so far.
