Your joints are more accurate than the National Weather Service. Your back goes out more than you do. The twinkle in your eye is only the reflection of the sun on your bifocals. You feel like the morning after when you haven't been anywhere the night before. You don't care where your wife goes, just so you don't have to go along. The pharmacist has become your new best friend. You sing along with the elevator music. The little gray-haired lady you help across the street is your wife. You have a party and the neighbors don't even realize it. You talk about "good grass" and you're referring to someone's lawn. You can't remember the last time you laid on the floor to watch television. My thanks to c-boom.com. do you recognise these symptoms and can you add to them?

You know when you are old because you have lost your sense of humour and you don't realise it has gone. So ajk111 you are not old if you can joke about it. I will however add one more thing, but I will say it is a sign of 'getting old' because I do not admit to having arrived there yet. You know you are getting old when you start noticing other people's comfortable shoes.

very true! This discussion idea came from work during the week when i happened to remark to a work collegue after a conversation about the previous nights "diners,drive-ins and dives", 'you know you're getting old when you talk about food rather than pretty girls'.

ALL are CORRECT! You know you're old when ... ... someone calls you aunt/grandma before your name. ... you're easily irritated by loud noises. ... you get up at night just to use the bathroom. ... your sleep is less than before. ... your idea is not so technologically related. ... your advices sounds so traditional. ... you deny some issues related to health. HA! HA! HA! Have a great day!

You know you're old when everyone doesn't seem to spend time being in your company(and you care about that). You are grumpy for no reason. You think about healthcare and morbid stuff. You wanna do a lot of things all at once.

How true are these? I know im old because i go to the toilet twice a night!
@Anne18 (11029)

So its not only me going ot the toilet twice in the night!!! Mind you I only go to toilet as I wake up for no reason and then think oh I'm awake might as well go to the loo!!! The toilet is stright across from my bedroom.. daft really because if I had ot go downstairs to the toilet (as my sister in law does) I wouldn't bother to go!!! Just wish I could sleep all night without waking up!

Getting a little action means you don't have to take a laxative. It takes twice as long to look half as good. Everything hurts and what doesn't hurt, doesn't work. In a hostage situation you're likely to be released first. And I didn't take these from personal experience. Well, okay, maybe the second one.

You know when you're old when: "Your get up and go got up without you!" A lot of those apply to me and getting up to do something and forgetting what I got up to do! Good Discussion!

"Your get up and go got up without you!"...love it! my mind still thinks i am 19, at a recent wedding an old 80s song was played and i pulled the wife on to the dancefloor, half way through the song i was knackered and was wishing for the song to finish!

A lot of this very true. It is amazing how we change with age, and we tend to take most of the ageing problems as normal, as though they have always existed. Never mind, I knew I was old anyway.

I like ur words about the "bifocals", sounds like u r a humourous person, but the following words made me feel u r not that positive as it seemed to be, a little negative feeling spreads from ur words, as I know, being old is not all bad, the qualifications we have will make us stronger than ever before because we have a lot of experiences.

i probably do come across as negative because i would certainly love to roll back the years.

The songs that you grew up with are considered classics. The kids you use to babysit are having kids of their own. Toys that you use to play with are unheard of. Car parts to your first car you can not even find in the local junk yards. You turn on the radio and switch stations and do a double take with what you hear. Age no longer matter, it how you feel instead.. Yes there have been some of those I have done and others happen quite a bit..

I once told my son he should teach his son to call adults sir and ma'am. He told me that was old fashioned, I totally disagree. Good manners and signs of respect for others never go out of style.
@ajk111 (2495)

i completely agree with you although judging from some of the kids, manners appear to have went out of fashion.

Don't forget that we have become wiser and more relax. We also get to think ahead of the youngsters who always makes unwise decisions. We get to eat first after the babies ate and we also know to pick the best when we see one because the youngsters are still dreaming. The best part is we get to watch TV with peace because the youngs thought it is very important for us to get the information
