I was updating my resume today, then I suddenly remembered one of my colleague. This colleague of mine is a former beauty queen in her hometown. She get my attention claiming that her beauty title was included as an achievement in her resume. For me, it is not relevant. What do you think?

I admit that beauty can really help somebody to achieve something, but the precondition is you have a correct attitude towards ur beauty or one's beauty. If u r a female, try to use ur beauty sometimes is not that bad, u'll surprisingly find how good after using it, but don't pay much attention to that, just master the extent, don't use it as ur ONLY qualification. eg. male and female r inherently connected and interact each other, if ur employer is a male and u r a female, a beautiful appearance will help, on the contrary, if the employer is a female and u r a male, it reflects the same. All I wanna say is to control the EXTENT.

I don't think that's something related to gender discrimination. It's only an inherent connection.

I guess it depends on what she was applying for. A beauty pagent showcases talent as well as poise, confidence, and a question and answer session. I would imagine experience to be the crowning glory in a resume. Experiences come in many of our attempts to be successful, educated, and trained. I do not think it would be a bad idea to mention a beauty title as an achievement.

It sound irrelevant to add her beauty title in the resume but I'll try to see it from different perspective, I've read in your comment for the 1st responder that she is applying in business world, I think her title could be extra point as achievement she ever made.
Beauty pageant is not only about girls parading her body in beautiful gowns, but beauty pageant title holder also trained public speaking skill, confidence, how to impress people and many more. Beauty pageant winner's duty is not just to promote the sponsor's product or just showing off her beauty, but she also goes to charity events and convincing people to donate in the charities.
So I think her skills and her experience could be used in business world, there will be some deals with clients, other companies or with investors. She could present her company in a confident gesture and impress the investors.

I think titles like beauty queen, beauty king are an individuals competency is part of skill, IQ or creativity. So nothing wrong in including it in resume. I think resume is showcase to be displayed in public. Whatever job she or he does this title remains as an individuals extra competency giving him or her an extra favor.

if her intention is to show that she has self-confidence, possess grace under pressure, and can interact with different kinds of people in different settings, then it's relevant. she can explain during the interview or written exam. actually, those qualities i mentioned are considered assets in any position or industry you're applying for.

Sometimes her beauty title would be relevant, and sometimes it wouldn't. It all depends on what job/career she is going for.
If she is applying to a beauty salon, or applying to be a professional makeup artist/hair stylist/fashion designer/etc etc. then yes, I think letting people know that she was around and involved in all of that could be helpful.
But if she's going into business, or law, or anything like that...no. A beauty pageant won't do anything to help her. In that situation it would just seem like she is bragging or trying to say she is better than everyone else because she is beautiful.

I don't see anything wrong with it.
It might looks/sounds irrelevant to others, but if I will be the one to read her resume , let's say I am the interviewer- I will be impressed and curious.
That will give me the impression that she's confident and strong willed person.

Hi shavkat,
I think it is irrelevant. May do more harm to her career, I think.
If she depends mainly on her look to get a job, than she should apply for a job as a model, actress, MC, PRO, Dancer etc. anything to do with show business. Because in this industry, look matters and it is probably the no.1 requirement.
But if she applies a job related to the business world and she does not perform according to her employer's expectation, then people will talk behind, like you know "beauty without brain"...so, it will be very humiliating for her.
It is always best to be humble, lie low and not be too show off. That's a great start for anyone even when you're holding the highest qualification, have the most experiences. For work that involves skills, it is always good to start from the bottom.
