What sort of candy do you have to give to kids at Halloween?

So Halloween is fast approaching and what sort of candy do you give to trick or treaters? Or do you give them fruit like raisins and oranges instead? We haven't had any kids to our doors in a few years so we haven't really gotten anything special in a while in case we end up eating it ourselves and pack on the pounds lol.
I will probably be working that night anyway but what do other people give the kids, is it done anymore or is it considered unsafe as technically your kids are being given candy by strangers.

I usually buy candy that I like myself so if there is any left over, I will have it for me. I love Tootsie Pops. So last week I bought a bag of miniature Tootsie Rolls and Tootsie Pops. Since I have eaten half the bag already, I was out today and got a big bag of regular sized Tootsie Pops. There are 50 Pops in the big bag so surely I can't eat all of that stuff before Halloween. I also got some potato chips and cheeze balls to snack on. I eat a handful of each per day so I don't overdo on the noshes.

Haha I totally would have the same problem if I went to buy sweets and candy for the kids that came to the door. A few years ago before my mum moved away she bought a bag of mixed mini mars bars, twix, milky way and such and I had half of them eaten before Halloween and then no kids turned up anyway so I ended up eating the rest of them anyway lol.
Tootsie pops are not something we have over where I live but I would love to try them.

I think that is true and Halloween is an excuse to give them something a little less healthy especially if they eat well throughout the year.

I bought our candy from the supermarket yesterday, because I happened to notice that there was quite a good offer on which would almost certainly not be there when we get to the actual day. I suppose it isn't too long away. I have just got small bags of candy and lollipops, as I know that this is the type of thing that I liked to be given when I was a child. I don't like to give children sweets as they may put weight on and be unhealthy, but I know that they wouldn't be impressed if they were given anything that was healthy.

Our shop is doing deals on candy and chocolate bars too and we have now also got like little biscuits in the shape of ghosts in our Halloween stuff is all ready to go it seems, the deals are pretty good like 3-5 packets or bars for £1 so not too bad really. Though at Halloween and Christmas I think it is only fair to give kids something a bit sugary especially if they are good and eat well the rest of the year and have put a lot of effort into their costume.

I tend to give children boiled lollies as they are easier for when they come to the door, as my husband sorts all the children out that knocks.
I love to see all the children dressed up, as they all look like they are having fun.My children get many different sweets when they go out.

I have a lot of kids around the neighborhood, they usually came once they're back from church. This year I got them corn candy and twix mix with kitkat and stuff, hope they'll like it. It's been three year in a row that they knock my door during the day to get the left over candy...oh kids..they never get enough with candy don't they?

Hmm corn candy! Yeah I think its nice to spoil them while they still enjoy candy, I lost my interest in most sweet things when I was around 13 though I still do like candy apples and American snacks every now and then it feels so much more special to get candy when you are a kid.
