A couple of minutes ago, another Filipino in the name of Saint Pedro Calungsod was officially declared by Pope Benedict XVI as Saint...he was with another 6th coming from different parts of the world who was also declared saint....
I just hope that his life will be idolized and that we would all follow his life of purity and dedication, which the Pope himself lauded him for his martyrdom.
The Pope also hoped that Saint Calungsod would “inspire the dear people of the Philippines to announce the kingdom bravely & win souls for God.”

The life of Saints Shows that what is more important is the life after this life and GOD should be put above all. Saint Pedro has elevated us Filipinos as a nation spiritually, let us imitate especially the youth of today, the example of purity of Saint Pedro Calungsod....Saint Pedro Calungsod proves that God is alive, and the Catholic Church is blessed by God... Praise God, Amen ...

I'm not Catholic but being educated in our country's best Catholic educational institutions and having dual religious baptisms and living in a Catholic country like the Philippines, I can never be more proud and happy for our people. I think the Philippines deserves it especially that we had remained to be one of the strongest bastions of Catholicsism in this part of the world. Yes it's not always about religion but about emulating what good a person does during her life time

Hi aabuda,
Congratz to our Roman Catholic Church for getting another saint, particularly to all the pinoys, for getting a second saint after San Lorenzo. Saint Pedro Calungsod is really new to me, so I will do some reading about him later. I like to read the saints' stories because they become a great source of inspiration to all Catholics, as well as to Non-Catholics.
Many people have the wrong ideas about saints. Saints are thought of as 'born perfect and chosen people of God', when they are actually just like you and me, ordinary people who are full of sins.
They become saints because God gave them the opportunity to choose between good and evil. Once, they chose goodness over evil, they quickly realize that God is powerful and although they suffer a lot because of the Catholic faith, they willingly bear the pain. Saints are people who are prepared to die for the faith. May God Bless and reward them forever!

I am proud that another Filipino was canonized and declared as a Saint. Indeed,ST.Pedro Calungsod's life is exemplary. At an early age of 14,he joined missionary works in Spain and was able to convert a lot of people into Christianity. Young ones should follow St. Pedro Calungsod's remarkable Christian life.

The story of the life of St. Pedro Calungsod is repeatedly shown in the TV monitors in our school's food court. Almost all students in our campus are already aware of st. pedro's courage and wonderful life.
