There are times that for us to be happy we don't need people around. We can still do the task alone like reading books, travelling or we can still do it by just watching movies.
How about you mylotters, what activities you did for you to be happy?

I really enjoy my friends that I have on the computer. I also sing in the church choir and that makes me really happy. I carry the music in my head and heart and I even dream it some times. I am friends with my husband and children and I have two or three lady friends that I get to visit with as well.

Jenith, I hope so too. It has taken me a long time to get here, and I have been through some sad times, so right now it is good to be blessed.

It is true that we do not need anyone to feel happy nor be happy. Happiness comes from within and therefore there is no need to rely on others to make you happy. I have learned that you are able to do anything if you really want that something. Happiness is like art and you must mold it according to your style.

I am not a person who likes to hang out with friends, but I can say that- I am lucky to have a company of great friends/people.
I have limited friends, those people whom I can count on (proven many times)
I can be happy watching a movie alone (which I always do at home- I don't watch movies on theaters)
I am happy travelling alone when going to my hometown.
I am happy cooking or eating alone.
But still, there are times that I miss my friends and when I miss them, I just send a message and we set for a meeting.
Anyway, it's very seldom that me and my friends doesn't have a meet up.
Every week we always see each other and have some fun- sometimes twice a week or when we are really free- almost everyday we met each other.

i guess we could be happy even if we are single.. but totally alone.. As some people say, "No man is an island".. One way or another, man will need company.. There may be things that we can do alone, but it would be more fun if we had someone to do our hobbies with.

Playing my favorite video games is one of the activities that I wont exchange for anything. Aside from being with my wife and family, this is what I love do. Meditating is one, it can unload those problems and stress. Thus, it can make me happy and what a relief that is. I'm doing my best to strive just to be happy. Becasue life is too short to be just lonely. Thanks

Atleast in my case the number of people I used to interact with has reduced greatly. I can easily manage not keeping in touch with friends or family as I have enough on my plate to keep me happily occupied.

Actually for me i can go by without friends for a week. I have other activities that can occupy me, like Mylot.
However, after a week, i need to be able to share experiences and stories with other people.
No man is an island indeed. That's what i have proven , jenith.

You are right about that. But I guess not all times. Coz sometimes we can only be happy with friends around. But there were times we need to be alone so as we can do things we love without even thinking if our friends would like it too or not. We do things alone because that is what makes us feel happy and comfortable.
Sometimes watching movies on my lappy makes me feel comfortable unlike watching with a friend. Because I can play and rewind whenever I want to without even taking into consideration if my friend doesn't like stopping a movie in the middle of watching. Shopping alone makes me feel happy too as I can go to any shops and be there at any time. If I am with someone I feel they have been taking my time too much that I cannot go to shops I want to go or check out things I want to see.

FAmily is so important. You are right life is miserable without a family and life begins in a family. If you are not happy with your family it will always shows wherever you go, no matter how you tried to enjoy yourself, you will always feel this empty feeling within you.

I don't believed in that. Because I strongly believed that no man is island. :)

Thanks a ton for posting this discussion. Well yes u are right, at times we prefer to stay in isolation and not to be in anyone's company. Well for me playing tennis o staying on Mylot gives me immense pleasure and happiness and i enjoy every moment i spend while doing these two activities. Even at times i prefer staying in isolation when i want to take ay decision or when i want to run from the hustle and bustle of the city.
What say?

I had this same feeling when I was single and I thought getting married is the answer. When I got married, everything is so complicated to the point where I wanted to go back being single. I know there's no point of turning back. More lessons to lesson. A great challenge!
