I was browsing an article regarding suicide when I happen to read about this Japanese term karoshi. The word was define as death from overwork and is said to be the corporate equivalent of the word Hara-kiri which is a Japanese form of suicide. I really haven't read of an incident like this in my country but they say that it actually do happen in Japan where workers spend long hours at work and are very hardworking that they already making their lives at risk. Have you heard of this in the past? Thanks.

The only nationality I knew for being a hardworker. My sister -in-law also working in Japan right now and she share about the performance of any Japanese. When I was in Saudi Arabia, I meet some of Japanese guest in the hotel and some of their staff told me about them. They don't like lazy people.

Yes, I also heard of that. My previous boss actually studied in Japan and worked there for some years. He said that Japanese are really industrious and hardworking. I had the chance to work with them way back 2009 when one of their ministers visited the country to attend an event. I so admire them as they are very organized and well coordinated. They perform their jobs wholeheartedly. They care less if they have eaten lunch or not. I also noticed that they are punctual and walk fast as I always have to run after them. Another thing I noticed is they have great respect for their officials. I am aware that they do bow to show respect. When we accompanied their minister up to the elevator, they all bow their heads and that's what I also did but didn't realized that we have to stay in that position until the elevator door was fully closed.

Hmmm.. Not really.. but I guess we're all paying it off by having diseases caused by stress or overwork like Hypertension and heart diseases. I guess it's different in other countries because they can't really express themselves to de-stress - unlike in my country where there is close-family-ties and we tend to have more parties out of no reason at all. hehehe.. Take it easy everyone. Have a great mylot experience ahead!
