That awkward moment when accidentally I drove my neighborhood in panic

Early this year one apartment here in our neighborhood was burned down due to negligence (Sometime in April- no not a movie)
Early this afternoon me and my son grilled some meat at the backyard.
Before that, I had to set the charcoal first and it created cloud of smoke.
Unknowingly my neighbors who saw the smoke coming from the back of our house approached my other son washing the car in front of our gate.
And another neighbor came too asking why there's a smoke coming from the back of our house.
My son smiled and told them that we're about to grilled some meat for dinner
Well, I cannot blame anyone for having same fear as I do.
Whenever I smell something like a burning scent- it also drive me frantic and try to figure out what's that scent or where the smoke coming from.
Ever had same experience dear mylotters?
Have a great day everyone

I recently woke up the landlady at midnight - it was late night around midnight or later because I work late nights. I forgot that it was night. Went into the shower and started singing during the bath - now as it was all me alone in the house, I thought to have my bathroom as my auditorium and the bucket as the drums and I was singing Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight - when the drums started, the old 85+ year landlady climbed up the stairs to check out if I was all okay... And to make the matters worse... I was wrapped in towel all dripping wet when I opened the door to see her shocked...

Oh uh...
Well, I remember this one you made a topic of this incident.
But still you are lucky only to see your landldy in state of shock.
If you happen to do that here in our country- mind you
singing during wee hours and waking up the neighborhood with a not so good voice (quality)- get ready for rain showers-
not rain drops but stones will start to drop on your roof like rain

hi sis!
we also had a fire incident with a house across from ours. the 2nd floor bedroom was burned badly, smoke was enough to alert the fire department. good thing it was a quick response. the smoke was so dark, it almost look like the entire street was caught on fire too.
sometimes when there's too much smoke, we also get alerted. even when the neighbor is only burning dried fallen leaves. coz it's never bad to be wary and alert. just not to get into panic mode. but heavy rains and flood... that's a different thing. sometimes, it can set us off. knowing that there are vulnerable areas in the metro that are greatly affected by floods. my mom is always worried for my sister's family whenever it's raining hard in manila.

my dear myles
Missing you a lot
Thanks the rain had stopped :)
I use to love the rain and keep waiting for this rainy season -because I can't stand the heat and humidity here in metro.
But now- after seeing how many people suffer due to rains- there are times I wish it never rains :(
Back to the fire,I can still remember the feeling the day I said goodbye to our house

Better they didn't bring something to off the smoke thinking something burned backward of your house.
It seems your neighbor phobia of what's happening last April.
Be careful not to get panic your neighbor. Otherwise they will call firemen to OFF the smoke

It was the first time a fire broke here in our place eversince this community was built (20 years ago more more)
I've posted a topic about this and you can just imagine the scenario.
The 3 door 2 storey apartment is just 10 meters away from our house.
If not because of the firewall in between my house could have been in ashes by this moment.
I only managed to pick up all important documents and run out of the house while saying goodbye.
Thanks God, the firetrucks came just on time and put off the fire before the fire reaches our house.
That was the most scariest experienced I ever had in my entire life.

Well that would worry me too sis! I mean it would be a whole lot better to have some thief and take stuff as there will be some stuff left rather than have fire where it would take down EVERYTHING!

Yah, I understand the fear.
I myself is always sacred each time I smell something is burning.
I can't stop worrying until I found out what's the smell of where the smoke came from.

Jai sis, lucky for you that your neighbors didn't call the firemen. There is a time, in my friend's neighborhood. Her other neighbors had mistaken that their nearby neighbor's house is on fire. Actually, that neighbor is busy grilling some meat. But, since he is not a very talkative person, so the neighbor didn't approach and ask him before calling the firemen. The firemen came and knocked on his gate. He was surprised and opened the gate and to discovered that firemen is coming to rescue him. He and the other neighbors all had to apologized to the firemen. Luckily, they didn't receive any summon but only receive warning from the firemen.

dear sis
Glad to see you and again you made me laugh on this
Imagine a fireman coming knocking to your door to rescue you-
only to find out that you are grilling some meat

The good thing is,
the firemen did not broke his door
I cannot blame the neighbor for doing so,maybe the neighbor who saw the smoke panicked and feared that the fire may spread too soon that instead of investigating the area he/she decided to call the fire department.
Oh...really what a funny incident.
I can't imagine myself if a firemen will come and suddenly spray waters all over the house
Anyway, thanks dear sis and hope everything's fine coming your way

Why do you post the date and time you started the discussion? I dont get that at all.
Anyways now i can tell a story, the house next door to us used to be a rental house and one year before it got bought the kids were in the back yard playing around when all of a sudden my dad yells what are you doing? They had lit the woods on fire behind the house which is cornered to my parents house. I thought my dad was going to go nuts. Why arent parents paying attention to there children. if your kids are giong to be outsidfe and arent going to be carefull i think adult supervision needs to be there then.

If I were them I would raise the alarm and start spraying water onto the area where the smoke originates! Better be safe than sorry. It's better to have wet grilled meat than houses being burnt down!

Thanks a ton for posting this discussion. Well that was indeed a funny incident and i think the neighbor would have got panicked at first after seeing the smoke oozing out from your place and it is quite normal by the neighbors to inquire about such things when they detect any smoke coming out from any place in their community. Glad that your son handled the situation quite well and i think next time u should take care of such things.
What say?

hello subh,
Actually, since the fire broke here in our community, our neighbors set their grilled or barbeque session in front their houses so when anyone sees there's a smoke coming from the neighborhood it can be easily checked.
I neglect to do the same thing, I should have done it in front our house to avoid the neighborhood in panic mood.
Anyway, they stop worrying the moment the smelled the aroma of grilled meat
Thanks and have a great day

Hi friend, i think you created a topic about that fire accident. You are right any one can get afraid while seeing the fire and smoke, so only your neighbors approached your son to ask the reason. I never had this kind of experience in my life, hope it will never happen in future too

hello vidh,
You remember so well
Yes, that's the reason why everyone in the neighborhood are scared whenever they saw smoke or smell something that is burning.
It is better to be alert and I admire my neighbors for being so
