Hai friends..
I like to share one incident that happened today..As today was a holiday,I was the cook in my kitchen.Because of some programs in temple and the pooja holidays,We were following only vegetarian food for one week. So,today morning my mom bought some fish and I began to cook.I arranged fish for the first step of cooking and I daub the masala(mix of chilli powder, salt etc) on the fish to fry.and I went for bath. When I came back to kitchen.I was shocked the vessel was empty.Alas..on that time I remembered that I forgotten to close the door..I hide there and found the cat.Now I am waiting for her to give a big gift..I know that was my mistake that I did not close the door. But that neighbour should not encourage such habbits. This cat did this thing may time before here.Any way,I will not allow this again.I am sure that she will come again by smell meat or fish.I am waiting for her..Do you have such experiences???

10 out of 10 for you. I wanted to write to her not to punish the cat but keep the door closed. she is young. She is unhappy that the cat has taken away her fish. it is natural. but your suggestion is the best.
that is the difference between young and old people thinking on the same problem. See-- cat came in because the door was open so person responsible is only ourselves. this cannot be understood by them. similarly many indian girls they exceed their limit in relationship also allowing for opportunities and in the end cry.

Any chance that the fish itself walked off from the door after you had gone for your bath? It may have nothing to do with the cat. And it is known that cats don't generally like masala. Yes, it may have been just a case of "finding Nemo".

Hey why punish the cat for your blunder? It was your fault that you did not close the door when you know there is a cat in the vicinity. I had once made fish curry and left the windows open. Was staying on the ground floor then. When I came back home after a couple of hours I found the gravy without any fish in it... After that ensured the kitchen window was always kept closed even after my meal was cooked.

in our houses cats use to come in and drink the milk kept in vessels. they will push lid , drink and then run away. if we keep the doors locked this problem will not arise. good suggestion aunty.

Cats are forever snacking. They are the smart ones actually. But stealing your fish is so naughty. How does your neighbor incourage such habits? Cats pretty much have minds of their own and do as they please.

hi,
yes,i have a fish before and it was a two carpa, actually i also have fault in this because i forgot to put the things to add the cover of the aquarium more heavier so that it will hardly put it up by the cat.because i know that the cat of my neighbor really wanted eat my fish because the cat always starred to my fish.

Oh, yes. Cats can be regular little burglars. I've lost food that way too. I ended up laughing at myself for being so careless. She stole some green beans too one time. I had never thought that she'd even want vegetables but I found a few beans on the floor after she had passed through.

Don't punish the cat, cats loves fish so better close your door when you are not around.
I have cats at home but she never wander around looking for food, but there are other stray cats who are doing such thing- stealing foods from the neighborhood but I don't punish the cats or any pets.

I got my pair of sneakers robbed before by a cat. Only, it wasn't a cat, it was a freakin' human being. I lived in a room rental with my brothers before and we always left our shoes outside the room since the room is inside a house. When I went home one day, my sneakers were gone, and my brothers didn't use them. I could have sworn that I left it on a free space right beside the door and they were gone.

I will try to explain the basic psychology of a cat here. No matter how much you feed, a cat is always underfed. So it is difficult to say whether your neighbor is feeding him properly or not. Now anyone who is underfed will first try to get food in an honest way. But some people are rather lazy, so they take a short cut, stealing. That cat steals and is not even slightly embarrassed about it. The cat thinks, "I am always poor and underfed, so what's wrong in stealing some food from others." Now naturally one doesn't steal from one's own house. Just imagine what will happen if the cat steals from your neighbor's house. It will definitely get a good beating. But it's smart and intelligent, so it steals from your kitchen. I think you should give her a good beating one day.
I don't have much experiences with cats. I think they're afraid of me.

Ha ha ha
That cat is so smart. Maybe. Anyway, not all cats are like that. Well, I think, its better to close the door so that cats would not steal food anymore... he he.

That neighbour should not encourage the cat to such habbits? Sounds to me you know less about cats behaviour and habbits. This is what cats do! You can't teach a cat what to do. Also you can NOT encourage a cat to go out and steal fish at the neighbours house. Cats are NOT dogs.
If you don't want a cat in your house you have to make that clear yourself. Keep everything shut but also "kick" the cat out. Make clear it's not welcome. Cats find it normal to live with several families. If other people accept that, even start feeding the cat, it will stay there as well (shopping everywhere).
This is normal behaviour and nobody can change that. If I don't like a cat over here I scare it away, if I don't care I let it stay or go in and out. If I don't care I feed it as well (knowing it will always come back for food). Sometimes I have an other cat in my garden but it's never there for long. I have a cat of my own that is visiting that cat too (the lady did feed our cat as she did not have one). My cat is also visiting the neighbours who like him and let him inside their house as well. My cat walks with me to the shop or waits for me to come home. If I walk with the dog it's walking with us too or if I am already gone he will come look for us. Cats you can't teach anything but they do teach you how to open the door for them. Must say my cat is old (about 15 years) and more close the older he is and just doing his thing. He knows it if I want him to go outside or I call his name also that I don't accept him in the kitchen. Still he tries to steal food including from the sheppard dog or my barn owl. This is just what cats do.
