Regardless of your political affiliation, it is so important to vote. Voting is one of the blessings that comes with living in a democracy. Will you vote on November 6th? Why or why not? Please share your thoughts.

Since I became eligible, I've always voted in presidential elections. I like having a say in the affairs of the nation. I also like having the right to criticize and complain. I don't think I'd feel so free to do that if I hadn't voted in the first place.

The voting system in national elections is very confusing here in the U.S. A candidate for president may win the popular vote, but still lose the election by electoral votes. So...what is the use of voting?

The electoral vote in any given state is determined by the popular vote in that state. So voting is important so that you can have a say in which presidential candidate gets the electoral vote in your state.

Some wonder if the electoral college should be abolished.

I would certainly be in favor of abolishing the electoral college. It was established when there was little communication between the few states we had in order to simplify the voting process and make it easier to get the results. That is definitely not a problem now.

I did the early voting. Got it done and out of the way. :) I'm not impressed with what Obama has done in the past four years so I made sure I voted. Now I know there was a reason why I didn't vote for him four years ago.

It was the first time I ever did early voting. It was more convenient as I was with my client. She's in a wheelchair so it's harder for her to get around crowds. This worked out better for the both of us. Now, we know it's done and don't have to worry about it.

Hi Angel, Did you think that early voting was more convenient for you? I may vote early. Early voting began in my state yesterday.

Yes, voting is a blessings and we are lucky to be living in a democracy. But, I will not be voting until there is someone worth voting for. I have tossed back and forth voting for Romney because I refuse to vote for such as Obama and his Obamacare scares me. But I don't like ROmney. I won't be voting. I haven't voted since Clinton was an option. We don't seem to have any these days.

Not necessarily new and fresh ideas but something that will work. It could be old and moldy for all I care. lol

my voteing is a maybe...because it seems one trying to outdo the other like a game on trial but one calls the other in lies..and who is doing the right thing...the votes will be close this year but makes me think is that one right or the other..so much lies being told and lied to...neither one can do nothing without permission from a higher up...

goldenteardrops I think many feel as you do and it's depressing that we often end up voting for the one who will do the least harm... I think Obama had his chance and didn't measure up to the job and 4 more years of the same is not acceptable. So this year it's Romney who represents hope and change

MandaLee A few years ago I almost missed voting because I had to work late. That year I applied for absentee ballot voting and that is how I have voted ever year since. I really don't understand why everyone doesn't vote this way. Some say they like to go to the polls..I can't relate to enjoying standing in line ...LOL I have sent my ballot already.

MandaLee Oh for sure absentee voting is easier..I know some people like the atmosphere of the polls but I rather socialize elsewhere. I definitely recommend absentee voting and think it should be the norm..it would save money for sure..and it's easy to apply..I think you can even do it over the internet.

I am registered, and I will be dropping my ballot off later this evening in a ballot box drop off. I personally have been able to Vote now for 30 yrs. and I can honestly say I do not think I have ever missed voting in a Presidential election. I feel it is a right and a privaledge, and people who do not Vote have no right to complain about things if the person they like looses. Or about anything, even if the person they are wanting to Win wins.

When I hear someone bad mouthing the government the first thing I ask them is if they vote, If they say no, that's the end of the discussion, I don't want to hear anything more from them. If you don't play the game you can't complain abut the rules. No government is perfect but the vary fact that we get a choice makes y us better off then most countries.

I won't be voting this year :( When I turned 18 a couple years ago my mom had filled out the paperwork so I could get my voter's registration. They never sent it back to me or my registration card got lost in the mail. And silly me didn't register in time to be eligible to vote in the elections this year. I know I should vote, but I'm kind of glad this year that I won't be voting because I would have no idea who I'd vote for. Plus, I'm going away to New York that weekend and I get back on the day of the election and I probably wouldn't have had time to vote anyways.

I'm not sure if I'm going to vote or not. I didnt vote last time and I see it as no matter who I vote for over time I'm going to not like the person who wins. I"m not going to say who I would want to win and be President I'll wait to find out. I might go and vote this time with my husband.

More than likely, I will but to be honest...my heart is just not in it. I really really can't stand Mitt Romney at all and Obama...well..he's Obama. I think and always thought that he just did not have the experience to deal with the mess that he came in to. I wish we could have a candidate that I could feel passionate about voting for that actually stood a chance of winning. It's been a while since we've had that.

Sid, I think alot of people are in the same boat and wish there was a candidate that they could get excited about. President Obama says that he needs more time, but like you, I wonder if he has the experience.

I will be voting on November 6th. I have voted in every election for president since I was able to vote since 1980! My parents took me to vote when I was 18! I am glad they did! I know my vote counts! Unfortunely my younger brother is a non voter! He was never taken to the polling station to sign up to vote when he was 18! His lame excuse is because there has been nobody he has liked! Thank goodness his younger son and the daughter are voters and that is all thanks to mom!

Yes, if we are a registered voter, we must exercise this right. The most important right of a citizen to vote for the candidate he chooses. We want to be heard, by doing so. I guess this is the only thing that would mean all man are equal regardless of wealth, appearance or status in life. So vote so that you will be heard.

Hi, MandaLee! I am not a US citizen, but there will also be a national elections in our country next year. Yes, I do always exercise my right to vote because, although there is a rampant election anomalies during elections, I feel that casting my vote can help make a difference. I always think that my one vote is the key for my candidate to win. Well, it may sound crazy but that is how I'd like to think of it.

I believe our great nation was founded on a republic not a democracy. I don't think that the electoral college has it's checks and balances though. When it was started when there were only 13 colonies, it might have worked back then. But anyways.. I will be voting even if I think that the votes can be rigged (I posted a discussion about every vote counting)but at least I can say I voted.
