I am planning to have it with my friends soon. Do you have any suggestions about horror movies that are truly scary? i have downloaded a few of the movies in After dark horror fest.. Some are dread, the hamiltons, and the collector.

Truly scary? Dunno, I can't get scared by the horror movies anymore. Some of them creeped me out back then when I saw them for the first time so I wonder if they would work on me now if I haven't seen them before.
Here are some of the good ones that haven't been mentioned in this discussion:
A Tale of Two Sisters
Ju-On (Japanese original, not The Grudge)
Shutter
The Blair Witch Project
The Shining
Rec
Halloween (the first one)
The Orphanage
The Descent
Jacob's Ladder
Suspiria
Most of these rely on the creepy atmosphere rather than gore.

If you happen to watch cable and have AMC they are having quite a marathon until past halloween like they do every year. If not if you look back over some of my past discussions you will find some ideal horror movies I have seen so far. The collector is good. I have The Hamiltons in my queque on Netflix.

I have digital cable and Netflix so can get anything I want to watch. I have certain favorites on cable that I would have to wait until the season is over to see and I can't stand the wait. I also have a bundle which gives me a landline telephoone service, DSL internet and the cable. So it is pretty nice.

I love horror movies and i think one of the scariest movies that i have seen are The Grudge and the ring. When i watched those movies it takes few days before i can sleep alone here at home.

The Grudge and The Ring are awesome movies. I love the way the woman in the Grudge crawls down the stairs and walks down the hall. I learned how to mimic that noise the little boy makes. That's so creepy. The best part about The Ring is when she's crawling out the well. I watched insidious. It was suppose to be a scary movie, but the only spooky part in it was the red face demon when it popped up behind him in the dark. Great movies.

This is great. I would enjoy this a lot. Its a good thing to do for around halloween especially to get in the spirit for it. I hope you will all enjoy the marathon. I hope none are afraid of scary movies.

Saw is also full of gore and torture. I've watched only the first two. Just can't get myself to watch the torture and the gore in this type of movies.

Coming Soon is one scary movie. I couldn't even watch through the first ten minutes of the movie. I gave up watching it. Too scary because of the torture and the gore. If you don't like gore, this is not a movie you would want to watch.

Yes, i saw coming soon since a friend of mine forced me.. I was actually focusing on something else since it was scary. i really felt bad for the one who got killed but then she was unreasonable and killed everyone even the one trying to help her.
Her make up was super freaky an scary.

Try Night of The Demons 1,2,&3, The Grudge 1,2,&3, The Ring 1 & 2, Absentia, Insidious, The Exorcist and The Omen just to name a few. There's another one that just came out this year called the Lady in Black or something like that that is supposed to be scary. I love horror movies, I don't like torture movies though. My favorite movie of all time is Halloween. The movies you mentioned are good ones too. Happy Halloween.

Martyrs.. this movies is scary in another way. It's not a ghost, but about people who gets tortured because of religion. I have to fast forward several times for this one.
Paranormal activity, there are 3 of them. Only watch the first and second one, too scary.
The grudge, hiiii I can't finish this one.I think there are 3 of them as well.
Exorcist, the best horror movie in old days. The new one Exorcism of Emily Rose is not as scary as the old one.
Have fun!

I love horror movies but I prefer the psychological horror to those that only rely on gore and torture to scare you. And I also like it when there's a twist at the end; something that is unpredictable. That will make the movie unforgettable.
The last movie I watched that has the ghost element and also a twist ending was The Awakening. That is a truly horrifying movie. No blood or gore just one very vengeful ghost and the ending was quite mysterious.

There were only two horror movies that scared the hell out of me, using the classic horror theme.
They are Paranormal Activity and The Grudge.
And I'm looking forward to silent Hill Revelations in 3D, cause I've played alot of silent hill.

Asian horror is my favorite. If you like Asian horror these are must-watch: Ju-on (the original "the grudge". This one is better, in my opinion), Shutter (Thai movie. There is an american remake with Joshua Jackson. Not good), One missed call (Chakushin ari, not the american version), and Ringu (the original version of "the ring").
Hope you haven't seen them yet, and if you didn't, hope you'll like them :)
