Majority of elderly people do give orders not because they are superior, but because they want young people to learn to obey others, learn to do things, so that in life they should not become insubordinate. I did not find anything wrong with this, provided what the elders order is the type of work/service which I am capable of doing. I have enlisted you as my friend and I expect you to to respond one of my discussions everyday as I have done for yours.

i think it is because they are more experianced in many things. they have lived it and try to pass on the advice in hopes that maybe us younger folks won't make the same mistakes.

In my case... the elders I deal with *think* they know the answers to everything. When infact they don't, because they are not in the position to give any advice with their life being the way it is. It's hard for me to take advice on something when that person has failed at it and never really figured it out themselves. For instance... I recently had a discussion with one of my elders about parenting. I was told I should "spank & whoop" my toddler because she is "bad." I for one, don't think my daughter is bad at all! She is an innocent little being learning about this big world. With learning there are trials and errors. If she makes a spill, it's nothing to get angry over or abuse her for. I consider spanking to be abuse. My elder told me they used to get it bad, spanked with tree switches, punched, etc. That is unhealthy... and they should understand, that just because it happened "back in the day." It's NOT OK! I just think that my elders should realize that time has changed, our generations are WAY different, and the way we go about things are differently from back then.
