Be more aware of your personal stuff this holiday season

Christmas is past approaching. This should be a season of love and giving. Unfortunately, some of our kababayans think it is acceptable for them to commit crimes and use the dirty fruits of their evil deeds (if they are not caught) to buy stuff for their family. Some dont even have a family. They just use their loot for their own personal vices.
I witnessed a crime last week wherein a teenager boy's hat was snatched while inside the jeepney. The vehicle slowed down during a traffic, and while he was busy chatting with his friends, a young man approached from the side, grabbed the hat, and then run way to the other side of the street.
I also was nearly victimized in an airconditioned bus by a pickpocket. Their modus operandi will be to approach and push you from behind, then while you are distracted, a nother man will dip his hand on your pocket. Fortunately, the man thought the bulging thing on the back pocket of my pants was the wallet, so he ended up stealing a cheap scarf of mine with some of my dried phlegms on it.

Ewww..good for him that he only got your scarf with your phlegm on it
Yes, we should be very careful these days even the whole year round. These people really don't pick dates or months to do their bad thing because they will and always will need money for their vices. When caught, their reason would simply be because they have a daughter or a son who's sick or because Christmas is fast approaching. Which is sometimes not true or we can't tell but still what they did is wrong. I hope our police officers will be able to do something about it and not just sleep on their shifts..sigh*!

ha ha ha the thief must be cussing out loud to discover that it's not worth the act.
the problem is some kababayans already know that it's the time of the year where these crooks are on the loose and waiting for the victims and yet they don themselves with jewelries, phones and things hot on the eyes of these thieves.

I hope he will also get sick with that scarf though i remember one time inside the bus when a guy tried to pull out my hair many times as i was trying to close my eyes to rest while traveling since its more than an hour travel and i was angry to him coz he was standing beside me and i was sitting with another guy who move a lot, the bus was full by then and when i get off i only realized that my bag was half open so maybe that guy trying to pull my hair so i will be aware what the other guy next to me is doing, though i never bring wallet with me and my cellphone is in the hidden pocket of my bag including my small coin purse so even if he can open it all he can't see any valuable inside but just my make up coz i have a lot of hidden pocket inside and outside my bag so he need to open them all to figure out where did i put my valuables

That's true. As Christmas is approaching there's so many crimes along the way probably trying save a lot of Christmas to buy gifts and food and a lot of things for Christmas and New year. Though so sad to think that they will rather do those things to earned a lot for them to make their family and friends happy without their family knowing that it was a dirty money. Specially December during payout of Christmas bonus and Thirteen month pay as they are trying to get our money as simple as like that specially for cellphone thing. It's really important of being aware of whom we are with specially inside the bus with someone beside us. Though a lot of extra care is really important as Christmas approaching.

Well there's a lot of that kind of people in the Philippines. Even if there's no occasions at all. And may be because poverty is really arising in the country so that people are forced to do dirty things just to get money. :)

All crimes all so rampant nowadays, grave or petty ones, you name it. They have those seasons like the Holidays are coming where they are expecting a lot from those people working with bonuses. I hope the government can do something more, like patrol, police visibility and other ways to minimize the occurrence. Stay safe. Thanks

I think that it is very important that you are wary about your own safety around this time of the year, because you're quite right when you say that this is the time that a lot of thieves choose to operate. I had a friend who had all of her Christmas presents stolen last year while she was out at work on Christmas Eve, as she had set everything up underneath the tree for the next day. It was such a shame, and the community tried their best to buy more presents for the children but it just wasn't the same for them at all.

Hello greenpeas, put your wallet in the deepest part of the bag and then the bag should be put in front of you while you hold it. better yet, put your money right under your socks, or inside your shoes or underwear. some people think they can just steal and gets away with it, and what's with the hat anyways when the person can bring an umbrella.

It's really sad how we can't feel safe in our very own country. I am in a foreign country and yet i'm not scared that somebody would pickpocket me, or someone would pull out a knife and rob me.
Poverty brought this crimes about and who are we to blame?

Good thing that he just stole your used hanky lol.
During this seaso, criminals are around the corner waiting for the chance we better be careful, prepare, alert and aware of our surroundings. We never know who will steal and do something bad to us for the sake of money.
So we better be aware and be extra careful will valuable that we have especially when we are going out the house.

Lol! Serves that pickpocket right, but he managed to steal a sample of your DNA through your snot.
Sadly whenever the holidays come, the crime incidents also spike up. These people would really rather commit these deeds rather than go without on Christmas day.

hi greepeas
yes Christmas is really fast approaching and people here in the Philippines are doubling their job or looking for extra income just to sustain their Holidays. Authorities said that here in our country holiday is the season where there are lots of crimes especially robbery. People need to be vigilant to prevent from being a victim of these crimes.

Haha..so funny incident of yours.A pickpocket deserves that. Yes, we should be aware and more cautious these days that Christmas season is fast approaching and that possible crime is also scattered everywhere. Christmas season is the time that we, people has a lot of money but we can also be a victim if we let us them spread crimes.
