Wow. Hello all my myLot friends. I have just been all day at McDonald's and stayed online. I did it before at Burger King, but this time I needed it to finish some writing jobs. I feel ok to use this free service and what is better than free? I feel no shame and I really think that they get tired of me being here all day, but, I guess if they didnt like it then they wouldnt have the service. What do you all think?

There are a lot of students hanging out at Starbucks coz of their wifi, too. Before it was free, but now, I think they ask just a minimal charge for it. But I don't think they will allow you to stay that long without you ordering anything from them, right? It's okay to stay at McDonald's I guess, just the same way. Enjoy your free wifi access to the max!

I don't know if McDonald's or Burger King have free internet access where I live or not. I haven't been to either one in many years. The only restaurant type place where I have been to get free access is a local higher, than Mcdonald's, scale restaurant chain where you wait in line to place your order but they bring it to your table and they have a more varied and more expensive menu. I assume one could go to the lobby of a hotel, or maybe even just outside it, and get free access. The only time I have gotten free access at a hotel or motel was when I was on a trip and was staying there although at one place my room wasn't ready yet and I was able to get access in the lobby before checking in.

I have never used it in a motel before either. I have just used it all day in Mdees, and Burger King. I have Clear Wireless and it works fine but in some places, like here in the library, it does not work... so it is good to have free wi fi.

I would stay as long as I could if I was able to spend as much time on McDonald's if they were offering the free internet and Wifi there. I remember when I spent so much time at Starbuck's and the Starbuck's Cafe worker told me to leave because I was spending so much time there. lol. I would feel uncomfortable with complete strangers walking around and maybe looking over my shoulder at what I was typing.

When I go to places like this, I always keep my back to the wall so that others are not able to see anything. I hate it when others are looking over my shoulder. I have been to Starbucks too...

I think that is okay too. if you are buying foo there anyway.. i think you can totally stay all day. They did start giving that service so they cannot complain if people stay just because of it. Or else, they should just stop giving that service. it is totally fine as long as you are not bothering anyone.

Right,I agree, and I never bother anyone. That is the key to making it work. Order something, and keep to yourself.

I'm not fond of McDonald's but everytime you need an internet(for free), to go there is a big help.

It is. I am away from my apartment quite a lot and I eat food I made at home. It saves in two ways. Free wi fi, and a pre made meal... But I do eat two meals at McDonalds to make sure that they do not kick me out. That is usually breakfast and supper. I eat my home made meal there and they dont seem to mind...

I stay as long as I can stand. Sometimes I get real burned out on the internet, and sometimes I have to do work, so... Take the good with the bad.

Whatever it takes. Although I'm sure they would appreciate it if you ordered a meal or drinks while you were there. There are other places so if they run you out you can go to the next place.

Haha. Yeah, I know, and it has been just me at times in there and I feel a little odd being by myself and the staff is trying to clean. I feel a tad bit out of place...

I think it's okay to do once in awhile. Of course, if everyone did this, then it could be really bad, but once in awhile is probably fine. Here, the libraries have free access. And if you have a library card, you can go on the internet on their computers, too.

I do go to the library quite a lot. I have my spot where I like to sit and just keep to myself. Just me and myLot.

Hmmm.. Our McDonald's here doesn't have free internet. But there are a lot of cafes which does, but right now, they have this rule that you can only use the internet if you're a "regular" client or member, therefore, you needed to pay a membership. I know it's a pretty bad stunt, but I guess they grew tired of people just ordering a bit and staying the whole day using their internet and their electricity. But heck, I think I would also develop the same nerve as most people do if I truly need an internet connection and I don't have one at home. But I do hope that wouldn't be a regular thing for you, besides, you get paid for what you're doing and it would be pretty cheaper if you'd just have a connection at home. I don't like to go online in public places. I don't like carrying my gadgets around. I don't like to go out when there's no need to. I'd rather just be at home in my pj's and do some online work. hehehee.. Well, that's me. Have a great mylot experience ahead!

Thank you for your kind words... Yeah, I too would rather be at home doing online work as well... No I am not the kind to stay all day...I have done it a time or two. I dont like taking any of my gadgets with me anywhere I go, But sometimes I have no choice, like today...

I've been using the free wifi of Starbucks but after couple of hours I left. I felt ashamed. I prepare to stay home to have my internet connection. I think McDo won't complain even you will stay up to the time they will close because they are customer oriented establishment.

Hi CODYMAC, good day to you! =) Hahaha...your discussion reminds me of my old times at college. Whenever we need internet for our studies, a group of us would hang out at McDonald's to eat and study. We would stay there all day if the library is packed with other students. However, if we are there just for fun, and we notice some other people need to use it urgently, we would give way for them to use. =) There is another time when my husband need internet connection urgently for banking matters. No other place but McDonald's nearby that provides free connection. It was so convenient and make things easy for us too. =) We are thankful to McDonald's which saves our day. I guess McDonald's staffs would not be tired of you or chase you away as long as you do still order their food and it is part of their service to provide free internet connection for their customers. =)

Good day to you too... Yeah, I always order at least two meals so that I do not look like a "user" of only the internet... I like to do this and no matter where I go.
