Its a question this generation says yes mostly. In fact the laptop costs have come down low that all can afford it. To make things easier there are net books too. I have two laptops by the way. One for official purpose and other for personal. I use the personal laptop for almost 6 years now. Its been running still and it is a Compaq laptop. I was planning to buy a new one finally now. Already the search is running for a month now. I have to see whether the configurations i short listed are available in the market. I am sure i will buy it only in new year. Has to save some money for it in next two months. I use my laptop both official and personal for almost 12 hrs in a day. Share your thoughts on your laptop.

I dont use my laptop everyday. If i do use it i usually use it at my boyfriends because the service over there is faster and just crazy fast and at my hosue the service is so slow and hard to use and it freezes and i know its not just my computer because my moms does the same thing and it bugs me so much but i get over it and i use the compuer at work to get on mylot when i can and i also use my laptop at my bofyriends but not everyday because some days i dont even want to get on the computer when leaving work.

Hi xorticanz, I usually would switch on both my laptop and internet after getting up in the morning. I have lots to do on the device after having breakfast. Laptop is an essential device for me. I even would bring my laptop along with me before I own a smart phone. At present it's so convenient that I could surf net on my phone in places where free wifi is accessible. Laptop of course would still serve its purpose as usual daily, but at home only.
Happy posting

Hi there xorticanz, amazing!I was surprised and amazed that you've got lot of comments from this discussions of yours. I know this is 3 months ago but its an honor to be a part of it. Way back 10 years ago I've been using a desktop computer since Laptops is very expensive on those years, but when I started studying in college I decided to used a laptop since its really important to have one and its very handy. Since then I am using laptop because it is comfortable in anyway. As of now I am using a Dell notebook because I don't want those big ones which I had a hard time carrying it. My first laptop was 15'6 inches, it has wide screen and thin IBM thinkpad which is very expensive those years but unfortunately I have to sell it for financial reason. Now that I'm working out of the country my Dell laptop is my company since this is the only way to get a long with families and friends. I'm thinking of getting a brand new since i3 and i5 is one of the best now, but I still need to save and wish me luck I can find a good one in the future.
Thanks for the interesting discussion, have a nice day!

Hi,
A six-year old Compaq? I hope it can handle heavy video editing and graphic designing as most desktops do. When that Corel or Photoshop data file hits 1GB, the system just crawls to a hangup. But then, I can't really demand much from laptops except for web surfing, basic data processing and light games. Running it twelve hours daily for that long is a big record really. The reason I don't use laptops that much is their limited capability, (4GB RAM, 512 VRAM at most) given the same processor speed desktops can handle heavy works with their minimum of 8GB RAM and 1GB video RAM almost 24/7, the time limited only by the human endurance.
My salute to your Compaq, I am more inclined toward Lenovo, Sony or HP for their durability. By the way, laptops here still cost three months salary for us lowly wage earners so it is more economical for me to assemble desktops that surpasses laptop performance four times over for the same cost, for now. How I wish the price of laptops in our place could also go down as you have stated. Sure, there are low-priced ones, but with super low performance too, not suitable for us power users.

I use my compaq laptop only for internet and watching movies. It serves that purpose well. I have a Toshiba laptop for my official purpose. Combined both laptops, I use it for 12 hrs.

That means you are on the way to buy a laptop. Too I think of buying laptop. But as I wont afford to change my laptop frequently so at a time I will purchase laptop which will be a bit costly, long lasting, good looking, awesome performing etc. So I have decided DELL. What do you think?

Dell is a good laptop and I would say it is an intermediate cost laptop. Good choice.

I used to use a lap top. But I really didnt like it. And since I do some much online. I wanted a bigger screen. For me laptops are good for travel, not for everyday office use. Take care there.

LOL, I use my laptop hourly! If I don't at least check my email daily, something is wrong. I would like to have a work computer and one for play, but for now that is not an option.

I use my laptop daily, actually several of them as I have 7 PC based machines that I use regularly, as well as 2 MacBook Pro models. I enjoy repairing them as well as changing them. In fact this machine I am on right now is a Core2Duo with 4GB RAM that was running Windows 7 last week. I changed the hard drive in it Saturday, and now it runs Linux with the KDE desktop. They are quite a bit of fun.

Yup, I'm from this generation and yup, i use my laptop daily. Mostly for personal use though. I've been using this one for 4 years, and it is also a Compaq. Putting aside the fact that the disc compartment is damaged, and the laptop heat up easily (now I'm using double cooler plus focusing the room's fan on my laptop), I'm satisfied with its performance and endurance. I'm a fan of anime, and i can watch them non-stop 24 hours per day, and so far the laptop are enduring the strain.

I have two laptops too, previous one was Lenovo and after 2 years of using, it runs slow and now totally damaged but still working. Right now, I have HP which is much more advance than the previous one. It works perfectly for i bought this 2 months ago. I spend overnight sometimes and all my laptop was for my personal and gaming.

Hi friend, good to know that you have 2 laptops. In this modern days most of the computer addicts having their own laptop and spending most of their precious time with it. As you mentioned you are interested in buying a new laptop, all the best for it

The laptop which I am currently using to respond to this discussion is my main laptop, which I have used for about 4 years now. It is a Lenovo Idaepad, which is a really small laptop so I would somehow assume it is a netbook. It is still running OK although a bit slower than I would like it to be, but overall thing are still fine and I can still do things on this computer without much problems. I have two other laptop besides this one; the first is a HP Mini which is still new and I have yet to even touch (amazing huh? ) and the second one is a Dell Inspiron. In spite of all these laptops I have, I even still bought myself an Android netbook which I use in my toilet! You are probably wondering why I would buy so many laptops and netbooks. The reason is because when I see sales and offers for laptops, I normally can't resist the temptation to buy them especially if the prices are rock bottom. But nowadays, I try to control myself because I don't want too much baggage to carry around in case I need to move from my current place of residence.

I do use my laptop only when I get home from work. I get to use it 3-4 hours only. But, my siblings use it as well when I am not at home since we can't afford to buy laptops for all of my siblings and we can't afford to buy a personal computer. I own my laptop only for a few months and if it wasn't for my bf, I wouldn't have bought it.
