We do not have excuses for not watching Horror movies anymore. Studies have shown that horror movies can be good for the mental health and brain of women.
The benefit of watching scary movies proves that it has greater effect on the mind, Body and soul. Horror movies are not completely out of sync with reality, After all, it is the reality that creates fiction. So, watching such movies and relating with them is not a task at all. Thus, knowing it is fiction, a figment of imagination makes the audience sure that it is not real. Traumatic experiences after watching these horror and scary movies are rare because of this.

Awesome response, valigil. But riddle me this; does it depend on the QUALITY of a horror film? Could it be a classic cult pic like 'The Sixth Sense' or something very cheesy like 'Saw 27?'

Some people just enjoy being scared. I just enjoy horror movies. Most of the time I am not scared by them though but I suppose I find them interesting. Sometimes I also enjoy watching cheesy horror movies. They have such bad special effects, stories, and acting it can be quite hilarious. Earlier this year The Devil Inside at the theater. A lot of people found that movie scary for some reason. As far as I was concerned it was a slap stick comedy.

For some different types of genre help people to leave reality for a period of time. If they are really into it they can lose a few calories. And yes they need to leave the butter out or the calories come right back. Horror flicks probably more than others because of the action packed type of storyline.

I watch this today on YouTube , I dont know but even eating can burn calories because your mouth is moving . Those would not be enough for people that really want to lose weight .

I have never heard of that. If that is case that is one factor to why I'm so skinny. I love watching Horror movies and being scared. I still chunk it up to the fact of gentics to why I'm thin.

I heard about that study as well,I'm assuming the reason it causes you to burn calories is as a result of elevating your heart rate.Though it doesn't cause you to burn many calories and you wouldn't lose anything if you ate something as almost whatever you ate would have more calories than you lost watching the film. There really aren't any easy alternatives to eating healthy and doing exercise, unfortunately. As the horror marathon I'm going to tomorrow would be better than going to the gym.I would imagine that a very funny comedy would burn more calories as laughing would use more muscles.

How funny. I haven't seen this article yet--what is the theory behind it? That our pulse and heart rates go up while we are watching something scary? Suppose you are watching a horror movie while you are working out? Then do you lose even more weight? I guess I'll have to find a horror movie marathon and sit on the couch all day watching them!

Well, I answer this question, because I am a lover of movies like horror and thriller. To begin to admit that these do not scare me at all. This also for the fact that certain products of "Series B", are so stupid that it is impossible to take them seriously.
I never even knew if behind the horror movies there is a study that admits that watching these shows, helps to burn the extra calories.
I frankly do not think so.

I don't think there are any benefits to watching horror movies. There is sufficient horror in the evening news reports to put me off anything horrific in the way of entertainment.
Even if it burns up calories I would still not view it. A horror film would keep me awake at night and then I would get hungry and raid the fridge for something to eat.
It does seem a contradiction that sitting on a chair, (a couch potato) will burn up calories, it must be that excitement producing adrenalin is the key.

It will be a benefit in that side but you have to pay attention on all the possibilities in watching horror movies, some horror movies can mentally damage the brain on fragile people more on girls.
And when you seen one it always appear on your mind and you will have to make a dying effort on loosing it.
Lot of people watch horror movies to chase away their fear though without their concern they get to be mantled with horror and spooky things.
