As the world connections become close, english plays an important role in many areas of life especially in countries where english is non-official languge. if one want to get a hogher education, english is a basis and also must.although i have studied english in school for many years, i still find it not easy to learn well.i think the biggest problem is absence of circumstance for learning it, typically for the speaking english.so there has became a problem for me. i wonder if there are any good ways?

The best way to learn English I think is to converse with people who knows English every day. Some suggested that reading English material can help a lot specially when you are going to utilize the dictionary alongside.

Yes, watching BBC will surely help. My son has been watching English speaking TV channels since his elementary years. When he reached high and through college he speaks well in English. Even his diction is British. When I heard him speak as if his native language is English.

As for your speaking, skill, you can always learn through Youtube. I teach my son to read and speak English through youtube. Hope you will be able to improve your English soon. Good luck to you.....

The best way I can think of is 'total immersion': watch English-speaking TV all the time, speak English as often as possible, read English just before bed and -just when you wake up, etc.

In every walk of life, we need to learn for not being innocent. We are lucky to know things at present; some people cannot have the same opportunity. Since the country progresses in a slow pace. That includes learning the language of English.

Find a good book that has all the English words and their meanings in your mother tongue, like English to Tamil, English to french etc. Learn the basic grammar alone. Don't go deep into grammar. Then try to use small small simple daily use sentences. This will help you a lot.

if you practice by finding friends online. i also learned english in school but what helped me was having friends online. i wanted to know them and that made me learn english really well. i can say that i speak english fluently mostly because i started to have friends in other countries online. the other way to learn it better is go to a school where you can learn how to speak it better. other thing you can do is finding a teacher that doesnt ask you a lot of money and teach you well^^

Try to read more English books and watch English tv programs of movies. Try to listen and understand what they are talking about. And when you read English books try to bring with you a dictionary also. Then if you know someone you who speaks in English try to speak with him or her co's by doing that you'll learn a lot.

story books - Reading story books is one of the best way to learn English.
Hi raiseup, one of the best way to learn English is to grab an English story book of your favorite. I love to read story books, and when i was younger, my parents bought me 2 story books, quite thick. I love adventures and mysteries books. So, after i read the whole book, i asked for the next new book. But my mother said no. I was wondering why she wouldn't buy me new books to read, as i have read them all. My mother told me that reading a book is not just to read its story, but to learn how it phrase its sentences, grammar, vocabulary, and story line. So, i was told to read it again and learn as i read. For your information, i read the same story book for a hundred (100) time! I can memorize the whole story, the structure of the sentence. It was from there i learn and improve my English. And slowly i start to learn to read the newspaper. In order to speak well, our reading understanding must be good. If we seldom speak, we should at least read. Through reading, you learn how to read out loud, which is similar to speaking. So, at least you get to learn and improve English. This is the simpler way i know of. =) Wish you all the best!

Aside from your studies why not try watching American television. I have a friend from Korea who learned English by mostly just watching television. Also I think that Mylot is a great place to practice as well. In fact I was online last night helping someone with their English. If you ever want to practice English conversation feel free to hit me up or start a discussion. I'm sure they're lots of people on this site that would be delighted to help you. By the way you're English isn't perfect but its not bad. I clearly was able to understand your post. Keep up the good work.

I think the best way to learn English is to read. Read books or read the news everyday. In that way you will learn new things and new meanings. If you have foreign friends, chat with them online or talk to them over the phone to know about their culture too. When you read, better get a dictionary beside you and check with the new words you learn for that day. Write an article and use the new words you've learned. Jion a chat room and meet new people. That's how I teach myself since I'm not attending english classes anymore.

There are several ways to learn. You need to know your goals first. Which skill would you like to enhance more? Is it listening, speaking, reading or writing? Participating to mylotters will improve your comprehension, reading and writing skill.

The best way I can think of: the same way you learned your native language---total 'immersion' (the meaning of the Greek word Bible-translators translate to 'baptism'). I.e. listen only to English-speaking music and radio-programs, watch only English-speaking TV, Live with English-speaking people (you might even see if you can set up some The Sleeping Dictionary-situation, like the British Army did with native girls in the movie starring Bob Hoskins & Jessica Alba ... though some book-reading just before sleep every night will have close to the same effect).

Hi friend, dont worry about English. It is not necessary to have a good English knowledge untill you have confidence on yourself. To learn English just talk to the people of your known who know English very well and read English newspaper or magazines, go on learning English vocabulary by dictionary or online vocabulary classes for free.

English is my second language and even if I first studied it in school, I made sure to improve my skills by reading books. As a kid, I also read English newspapers and comics. It really helped me a lot. Of course, speaking to those fluent in English is another big help. Especially now with the internet, you can easily find resources to improve or people to practice with. So I know it would be easy for you if you work hard for it. Just keep practicing and you'll get better. Good luck! :)
