Who read discussions that are none of your interest?

Yesterday somebody replied on one of my discussions in an agressive way. The message was: I don't understand this discussion. You just make something up because you want to earn some moeny. D'OHHH! After almost 2 weeks on Mylot I just made 80 cents. Now if i wanted to make money I'd do better than that! What I don't get is that people go to discussions that they obviously don't like. What then is the point of going there in the first place? When I scroll through 'today's top discussions' there are so many topics I don't wanna go to. So I skip them. Not so hard to do. But worst of all is start ranting at people you don't even know in the first place and on top of that draw wrong conclusions. What's wrong with those people? Do they tell their butcher they don't like him because he doesn't sell bread? Well, I gave the person some thoughts while trying to stay polite. Don't even know if it was worth to report. I came to Mylot because I was invited by a friend. Some discussions I really like to participate in. That's it! And most important: I want to enjoy it. I'd rather have a smile on my face following discussions than getting annoyed by stupid comments where nobody asked for in the first place. Happy Mylotting!

I know exactly what you are saying. Not all members are really interested on each discussion posted but try to just comment anyway. I hardly go over a discussion that I am not interested at all. Well, I may have probably read some of it but not responded to it.

It's all about using our common sense I guess. Something went wrong after I finished writing this thread. It was placed before I even could check it out. The who in the headline should be WHY. Antway, the nice thing is that so many people start a discussion. One only has to pick what is of interest. And we all have different interests. Happy Mylotting!

franseman: I think that some people just want to make other people as miserable as they are. I come on here because I love to socialize and debate. I find it facinating to hear other people's ideas and opinions on different issues. I also enjoy learning new things and believe that it is necessary to have an open and free line of communication if we are to solve problems. It is good to get different views on things. I do not care to argue with people who want to be degrading or disrespectful of other people. Unfortunately, there are people who believe that the only correct opinion is the one they have. I get critiized a lot for my opinions and beliefs. I do not mind that people disagree with me. I do take offense when they want to insult my intelligence simply because I do not share their perspective on a particular issue.

To all: I apologize for the double post. I had a computer clitch and the first one did not appear until after I submitted the repost. I have reported my error and hopefully the first post will be deleted shorty.

Very true. If we put people down simply because they have another vision; that would be a very poor performance!

I do not restrict myself to only the discussions that fall withing my interest category because there are often quite a few interesting ones that are on different subjects. My interests simply make it easier to find those which are most likely to appeal to me. However, if the discussion does not interest me at all then I shall simply miss it out, just as you do. I have had a few responses in the past amounting to "No, I don't" or similar replies. I agree entirely that this is totally pointless. To try to respond to every discussion would make Mylot more of a chore than a pleasure, so I expect that people trying to do so will soon become bored and leave.

On occasion, I come across people like that but not too often here. That person should have just kept on moving to another conversation. You have your options here to report that person. I've got stupid comments before, but just keep movin on because I'm not here to cause problems and drama for everyone else. I actually come here to relax, believe it or not! I try to avoid people like that. Like you, I'd rather stay in a good mood and leave my conversations with a smile than for one discussion to mess up my day.

mzz663: Apparently you avoid discussions of political and religious natures, huh? I think we should be able to freely express our opinions, but when we disagree with someone else, be mindful to remain repectful. In the case we are presently discussing, the responder was just being cruel. Some people just can't seem to be happy unless they are making other people angry and miserable. I ignore those people myself unless they continue to put down someone else. After a few insults, it gets really hard for me to ignore hateful, disrespectful remarks.

Actually, yes, I do avoid politics but usually not religion. I had a discussion a couple years ago or so on here that turned into an argument. I think the discussion was even deleted and I got some nasty comments but that was just a few people on a certain subject and I just stay off of that subject so I don't run across them often here. Since then, I've been in a few conversations with the same people but I guess after you're here for a while, everyone just ends up agreeing to disagree or avoiding each other works, too and then it goes back to the age old thing that Thumper said in Bambi....'if ya can't say somethin nice...don't say nothin at all'

Those kind of people are just nothing sensible to say and maybe thinking if they give an insulting remarks to others would make them look more smarter. Nah...! Just a waste of time to entertain them, I have read some few discussions here where the poster had received an ill mannered comment that I almost want to punch (as if I can ) the face of that responder but I realized Im not going to give them their satisfaction, of getting other people annoyed of them. Each of us here are not obliged to reply in every discussion we see on our wall. So I think its just smart thing to pass on topics we dont like and go with those we have something nice and worth to share. We are here to spread our wit and not our ill manners anyway..

ally: I think you are right. The truth is that people who throw insults at other people just don't realize that they themselves are the ones that anyone else reading a post is going to think poorly of. I don't always just move on like you do. I just have a need to defend some people who are being put down. I believe that we are all entitled to our individual thoughts and opinions and that it is incorrect to belittle and degrade people who disagree with your views. I also take exception to people who want to criticize other people's fluency in the English language. If you do not understand what is being said, well then, ask the original poster to try to clarify what he or she meant. It is cruel and unnecessary to tell someone else to get off of here and not come back until they have mastered the language. This is a discussion board, where most people come to communicate with others and gain insight from other people's perceptions.

Well, since it is an open forum and the title of each discussions might be tricky, sometimes I am getting trapped in discussions that don't interest me at all.. In most time, I tend to ignore it and move to the another discussion though. But when some people only think about money when discussion here, it's possible that they are getting disappointed with that discussion because they had "losing" their time in reading it, yet the topic isn't really interesting so they couldn't give much meaningful response. Then, they start to complain about it. It is a bad practice, though, since it would against the guidelines of myLot. You are eligible to report it..

Hehehe But you are happy enough with the discussions and your earning, right? I guess that's the most important thing..

Yes, next time I will do that. The funny thing is that she told me I made something up just to earn more money. Well: after 3 weeks I have a total amount of $1,50! Who can beat that??? wahahahahahahahaaaaa

Personally I always wonder why there are people here who are like this. Personally if you cannot find a nice way to respond back in a discussion then why respond? There are way too many discussions being started here all the time. Not everyone are you going to agree with or relate too. That is why you can pick or choose but personally when you cannot relate just move on to a discussion you can.

Naturally I do not restrict myself to the discussions that fall into my interest categories, but I only respond to those which appeal to me. I have seen a few discussions that have made very little sense to me, so I simply carry on looking until I find something more appropriate. The only possible reason for attempting to respond to a discussion that a person does not understand would be that they are only interested in the number of posts that they can make. This seems quite pointless because it would make Mylot into a chore instead of an enjoyable site.

It is very rude for this dufus to say so in his response. If he can't understand your discussion, then he need to butt off from the discussion and go somewhere else to post his response, instead of talking like a cranky old punk in your discussion, accusing you make up story to make money. It is unfortunate troll like this does come along once a while inside Mylot with the intention to piss people off with stupid comment. Just let the admin. handle such a rude and misbehaved punk, and then continue to enjoy your posting here. Well! just relax, majority of Mylot members are friendly and well behaved lot, he is just n exception and don't let it bother you too much. Happy Mylotting again!

Ignore those kind of responses. I have bad experiences too in my 4 years of being a mylotter. I also had a very bad experience when I was a newbie here with one member who disagree with my post and this member wrote a very rude comment to one of my topic. I pause for a while and ask some help from veterans and they guided me what to do. Just like what you did- I try to replied calmly and take note on that member- I never go to any of his/her topic to avoid any trouble. Keep mylotting, those kind of members are few compared to the good and helpful ones

I always try to find topics that are easy to respond to. So naturally, I start with my areas of interest. Unfortunately, a lot of posters post replies that are essentially close-ended so I browse through the most recent discussions and find something interesting.

I will read some discussion that are not listed in my interest just because the title seems interesting, sometimes I'll comment if I have a thought about the discussion, however I always try to be polite. I don't always comment on discussions because a lot of times what I'm going to say may already have been said so why repeat. I like that we can earn money here, however that's not why I'm here. I think it's about getting others opinions and assisting people, the money is a bonus. By the way welcome to MyLot.
