i want to laugh hysterically as i am a little bit ashamed or embarrass as one member here told me that he's grammar is poor but mine is much poorer . just do not know what to felt as he told me like that. i read his comment reply to one of my posted discussion hereof.
but honestly, i just laughed and told him it is just okay if the sentences are grammatically constructed wrongly. for in mylot everything and everybody is welcome. whatever level proficiency of your english, whoever you are, wherever you live as long as you are abiding the rules in mylot, you are so much welcome.
so should i be ashamed when someone is telling me that my grammar is much bad compared with others? tee hee hee!

I'm not ashamed if my grammar is wrong co's it happens to me most time. It's not that I can't construct a right grammar or sentence, it's just my mind is quick to think than my fingers to type. Then if I did a lot of writings I don't edit my work co's in my mind I know I did it right. It would take me two to three days to finally read my post and then just realized that I can't even understand I have written about. lol!

good for that good self esteem and confidence. well, we all knew that every human differs from learnings with another one. that is why not all of the people have the same interest in writing. so we can consider ourselves lucky for we found this site, mylot as we learn, earn and enjoy here. thanks

It is left to you whether to feel bad or not. But as per guidelines no one is supposed to comment or criticise on anyone's language here. You can report that user.

I was looking at the responses to see if someone had mentioned that this was a violation of the terms of service. I am glad someone brought that up. I think that the person who made this negative comment could find something better to do with his time than criticize someone who is participating.

But the OP, as you see from the comments left on certain boxes here, seems not perturbed by it and in that event I wonder if it is a guidelines violation.

and i decided to ignore it haha... no harm done just a small scratch to my pride and a simple tease to my spirit. i hope that person would listen to me as i recommend him to read the guidelines in mylot. apparently he is a newbie like me. just that the difference is i am much advance to his level of participation. another one is that, when he is older here, he should knew the rules and would restrict himself to utter offensive words, or unless he was just tricking me or want to hurt me for a reason as if he does not know anything at all about the guidelines.

First of all, the 'rules' here specifically forbid us to criticise anyone's grammar or use of English (unless, of course, the person is asking for help with grammar). If anyone does so, the correct thing to do is to report that response or comment so that Admin can remove it.
Nobody should be made to feel embarrassed or ashamed of their imperfections. As long as what you write is clear and comprehensible, you should not be criticised or laughed at unkindly for it, especially anywhere in MyLot.
What one feels privately about one's use of English is, of course, a different matter. Most of us are aware of our shortcomings and feel the need to improve. One of the best ways of doing this is to invite and accept constructive criticism.
It is quite normal and natural to criticise oneself but anyone here who tries to make you feel small or inadequate by saying that your English is poor (especially if their own is not perfect) should definitely be dealt with according to the rules of the site. If I had been able to find the response you are referring to, I would have reported it without any compunction!

In case you had forgotten, the Guidelines say:
"DON'T ... Post discussions, responses or comments criticizing members for bad/broken English or bad spelling. Everyone is welcome at myLot, we have users from all around the world and they are welcome regardless of their proficiency with the English Language."
and
"DO ... Help out when you can. The myLot staff tries to monitor the site constantly, but we also need your eyes and ears to catch problems when they arise and report abusive behavior."

hello owlwings... it is nothing. and i do not want to decide whether to remove the comment reply or whatsoever. i just laugh at the thought like that. but if the admin would like to work for that, there is nothing i can do. i so told him that he must read the guidelines so to know the rules herewith. he is a newbie i guess. i guess, he did not meant to embarrassed me intentionally - haha... i so remember when i am so new here, i am so fresh and a little arrogant. maybe he felt that way and he must learn how to deal it here for mylot is establishing a good and harmonious society. so thanks owlwings for interfering to suggest. thanks again

Well, I'm glad that you don't feel seriously embarrassed or bad about it. Maybe the comment wasn't made in a serious or harmful way. It often depends HOW something is said and in what context as to whether it is really 'flaming' or not! I have been called a 'silly old fool' many times by people and sometimes people have laughed at something I mistyped.
It is OK, I suppose, as long as you can laugh WITH the person and know that they are not trying to be mean.

even the native english speakers may not always have their grammar 100% correct all the time. nobody is perfect. much more so for us with english as a second language, and not our mother tongue.
in all the years i've been here in mylot, not many will bother a mylotter about a perfect grammatically-correct post. for as long as it's in understandable english.
what i like in here is that it can serve as a platform for us to learn and improve our english if we want to. and nothing to be ashamed of if our grammar is far from good or perfect.
so don't be bothered nor be embarrassed. cheers!

Hi, I know how you felt, you may felt a bit ashamed or embarrassed but just laugh it off. No one is perfect here in mylot. All of us made mistakes grammatically or whatever. There are those members who said that we should not be ashamed of whatever mistakes that we had committed here in mylot.

i do not know why mylot is so a kind site that it disregards our english proficiency level, good or poor. it is alright, maybe in time to come, that member would know his ways in here and would be able to know that criticizing your english is not allowed. well, of course he will do, all he need is to read the guidelines in there. thanks for joining :)

I wouldn't be ashamed if someone told me that my grammar was bad and I don't think that you should be ashamed either. It is true, we all come from different sides of the world and we all talk differently and of course some people's grammar won't be as good as others, but who cares. Like you said, as long as you are following along with the guidelines here on mylot, it shouldn't matter how bad your grammar is and I think also just as long as people can understand you then there shouldn't be any type of problem.

hello there... i agree with you. grammar is to be counted lesser as long as you have a good communication relationship with your colleagues here and that even the sentences constructed twisty as long as you can express it so that one reader could comprehend it by mind and heart, so it is okay like that for mylot counts your participation in here. so thanks for joining :)

He said that??
Oh, my. How can he tell that yours or anyone else is poorer when his grammar is poor? I don't get it.
There's nothing to be ashamed of, because, like you said, everybody is welcome here. Not everybody here is perfect in english. And mylot is a good site to practice our grammar.

Yes, you should put your discussion into place.
Or else,
i don't really know what will happen if you keep on posting your discussion at a wrong interest.
We have tons of interest and there's no way that you could possibly put something wrongly.
...well, unless if you cannot find that interest amidst all of them.

thanks to you. your are right that in mylot grammar is to be less counted. your participation here is what being counted as to do your share for the mylot community. love mylot for its existence and for the goodness it offered to us. i do not give a deeper meaning to what that person is saying about my grammar because i know my capacity pertaining to this and a little confident that somehow i can construct a sentence which is good enough to be understood by the one who might read my story being discussed. so thanks :)

Instead if someone tells you that your English is incorrect or has grammatical errors you should tell that person to help you improve your English. This will certainly be helpful for you and if the person say he doesn't have time, then tell him not to comment on your English and that you will learn it your way. Mylot welcomes people from all the corners of the globe. So don't be ashamed and enjoy your stay here.

Yes, you have a point Jahn, but then how can someone who himself is not good at English can comment on your knowledge about the subject? I really don't think anybody would dare to do it. If someone does, I am sure you know how to handle it.

inder hi... brilliant suggestion... but how can a man with the same difficulty in english language can teach someone like me with the same difficulty as ease . i guess, if someone would like to teach, he must be equipped of knowledge for what he can share if he doesn't know anything too. he will just mislead the information into much confusing one. thanks

you are right... we are not here on the first place because our grammar is very good. the requirement here is not to be compared to those who worked at tabloids that must have a good written skill. we are here to participate inspite and despite of our english proficiency. and yes, we can improve what we have by always joining to any discussion... thanks for joining :)

Just take it as a challenge and don't stop it from expressing yourself in English. It's a good way to improve yourself. I myself is not fluent in English but i tried my very best to improve it everyday. I am just a bit lazy. But since English is the primary language from where I currently live, I have no choice but to live with it :)
Keep doin it!
Cheers!

Hi,
Not sure why this is in the Interest "My Parents" but hey...whatever.
I hope you are not ashamed or embarrassed. You write better English than a lot of people here. Besides, all are welcome here and no-one has the right to criticize anyone else for their second language skills.
Most of us speak only one language and some of us don't even manage that very well.

haha... you are the second person who noticed it hahah... yeah because that time i was about to start a discussion about mother and father whom a child is much closer. i was just excited that time that was why the concern topic was reverted into parenting instead of mylot interest.
and thanks for the apprehension about my english ability;) - happy to hear that. i guess, as what the admin is emphasizing, everyone as a diverse individual is welcome that is why your main capital is interest to write in there that abides with the given rules, to that you will earn appreciation and so much more, unequaled learning and fun are to be found herewith. by this, each one of us must learn how to learn and to live it here...
so thanks ms tickle for your presence... thanks

I think it should not be ashamed but a kind of challenge for us to do more and improve our grammar. If we are always thinking about that matter nothing will be happen into us. We cannot improve and develop our self if such thing be the reason for us to be shamed.
If you let those people trembling you in their unjust criticism. Be yourself and learn more about the thing that makes you be the master on it.

i shouldn't worry about it, i am a native english speaker and sometimes i post comments with terrible grammar.
with the greatest of respect to mylot, which is a very find website, it is only a mylot comment, though it is good to make corrections if you spot some obvious mistakes, before posting. but a lot of comments are done quickly, so there are bound to be mistakes.
there is no need for perfection here.
