I didn't know that we are BFF.

I had received a personal message from a common friend. She was asking me personal email address, so I gave it to her but feeling puzzled. Eventually I asked her about it, the she said I will add you as one of my BFF. My eyes rolled upward and didn't react further, since I don't want her to be offended. I'm just thinking, is that how a person perceived bestfriend forever? As far as I know that a word bestfriend is only one person, the superlative form described as best. But then, is that easy to classified you as best among the other friends?

I have trouble with the idea of a best friend, let alone a best friend forever. I have many friends, some of them closer than others, but I seriously doubt if we will be friends forever, even if we are friends for a long time.

BFF's are hard to come by, maybe she is needing a friend and feels you would be a good one. I would be weary though, It takes me a while to trust people and only a few are in my close circle of friends. A best friend is one who is always there for you, no matter what. If you don't really hang out with this person then she is more of an acquaintance, not a best friend.

I think many use the word "best" when they really mean "very good".

Hello Shavkat!Bestfriends meaning the "best"among friends but isn't it's nice to feel and think that someone wants to be your bestfriend?Maybe that person see you as an important one..or maybe she idolizes you and hoping to be more closer to you..As for me it doesn't really matter if how long you know me.If you want to call me best friend that would be alright at least you don't treat me as an enemy. And I am proud to say I have three bestfriends.I can't choose who's the best among them because they are all grown up buddies and they love me as I love them..
And well I admire you for not offending her.

Hiya shavkat,
I have many "friends" people that I know but none of them are really best friends I donĀ“t think so anyway at least.
Have a crowd of people that I know they are my friends for me too some I shall miss some I am missing because I had to move house and so on.
Life is like that one door shuts another one opens.xxx

For me a BFF is someone whom you really know deeper. Someone who shared your pains and happiness in life and always there through thick and thin. Maybe she means casual friend or she is just starting to make you her best friend. A person can have lots of friend but i think there is only one best friend.

It sounds as if this is just a "game" you add someone as bff or friend but in reality you are not. If this is bothering you I would ask how or what or say that according to you a real friend or best friend is something else. If this bff can't accept that of feels offended it's not your problem.

I have to BFF one who went to heaven and one that lives close by, both were from different schools that I had been too, so I guess you can have two BFF's, then I have a set of close friends, then down from there is aquaintences.

haha, quiet funny, but there are people like that, they give the names ,but actually don't mean from their heart.

haha I got your point. =D
I actually have close friends, but you've said it there. Best Friend is superlative and for me I just can't call anyone that way easily. And just now I realized, there's no one I am close to that exceeds my closeness with the rest of the gang :)
I just think if she treats you as bbf, you should have at least felt the same way if that kind of relationship really existed. I think it's a mutual feeling :p but since you got confused, then it's a different story =)
But, maybe there's something in you that's actually a part of her basis in choosing BFF. Congratulations for you qualified! :) HEhe cheers!

Hahaha. You made me luagh Shavkat. Your title makes my day "I didn't know we are BFF". It happens to everyone and I have a share of such situation as well. A person whom I really don't want to be with asked me to be on her team. I was so shocked and would like to run away from her. hahaha. Your discussion just made me think of her.

Life is so complicated; so there are different aspects of our lifes; work, school, home, etc.. I believe that within each of those sublifes that we live every day we can have more then one bff.. It truely depends on how you define a friend, a best friend, and a best friend forever... There are different contections we have with others, someone that has been there done that.. Do not judge you for what you are thinking or doing.. I believe a heart can be so big that they can have lots of love to share with lots of people just with different levels..
I have a couple BFFs.. I can talk to them about certain things and they wont look at me like I am crazy.. It all depends on the relationship; and if there is a strong connection why not give them that label..
If you feel that this friend doesnt have the BFF status because of your relationship it is in your best interest to let this person know exactly how you feel.. Then there is no misunderstandings which could cause problems later..

Hello shavkat! :)
Well, I guess there can be more than one BFF, but make sure that you two are understanding each other. And not just the factor to say to other people that you have lots of BFFs. FIrst, make sure that if you want to tag them as your BFFs, you two should both agree on it, and of course, you know about all things about each other and not just for the sake of the tag...duh!

Stop being offended and choose your words wisely. She obviously needs a person to confide in. Tell her you already have a best friend but she can trust you. Be grateful someone thinks youre kind enough not to talk behind their back on the internet.
