why is seafood more appealing than meat?

so many people praise seafood a lot, and they even rank it higher than meat. if we take the fat aside, what about seafood makes it much more appealing than meat? is it that meat has less nutritional value, when we leave the fat content in meat and in preparation of meat?

Hi, I am vegetarian and I am staying at coastal area. Our city is a tourist place and many people like to eat sea food. Hotels are crowded for eating sea food . I think sea food contents low fats than meat so sea food is preferred by the tourists. When my friends come to our house they always like to go to hotels where sea food is available.

seafood contains omega 3 and 6 oils that are good for your heart and your health'and also antioxidants again for your heart. most meat is heavy on fat and bad cholestrol so yes seafood is lean and healthy and a better choice.

Not for all people, I would say. But for those who find it more appealing, I think those could be the factors: -it's exotic and new (not like traditional meat you could eat day by day) -it's healthier, I mean in the way that it has less nutritional value and fat -it could be done in various ways, especially those which don't have such a strong taste as traditional meat -it can look more attractive -it's trendy

i can say for one, because it is new and is not as common as meat and poultry, it has the market and commands higher authority in people's tastes. i believe that with time, we will start seeing a turn in the health advice concerning meat, seafood and poultry.

I prefer seafood than meat because seafood is not fed with artificial feeds.

There are times that marine foods are also contaminated with waste of civilization... such as oil spills... and waste for mining...

meaning meat is fed with artificial feeds. the assumption then is that civilization has not affected the breeding of marine food at all? i wonder how much the sea can take, because i know that the news says that the marine resources for feeding humans is very limited compared to land.

I think both of them can provide us different nutritions, we should not judge them by prejudice.

that was why i asked this question. i think there is a tendency towards painting meat in the negative in the press in recent times. i wonder why meat gets all the bashing. does it mean seafood has no harmful side effects like which is similar to the high cholesterol and fatty content of some meat that are considered harmful?

I believe more preferred seafood than meat is because they are healthier food than meat and at the same time, there are more variety of seafood than meat. Pig meat and cows meat are the most available in the market today and rarely you can find any other meat. Have a nice day. Ciao!

you are speaking for your region, i believe romzee, which by the way is the phillipines. pig meat is a rarity here in lagos but cow meat and poultry are very plentiful in the market. seafood is considered nutrition for the upper and middle class.

to be honest, i really like chicken and pork and eat fish and vegetable when there's nothing else. i seldom eat fruit also. but when we are in my parent's hometown where you can everything is fresh - vegetables, marine products and fruits - and cooked very simply, i'm eager to eat them because they simply taste differently. :) i guess the fresh air and being surrounded by nature also helps! :)

It is probably because of the less risk it contribute to healths and also the rarity of some of it. In most part of our country, seafood are considered delicacy, which is actually ironic considering that we are an archipelago and known to be one country with great resources for marine life. I do understand, however that there are cities which cannot have these abundance and therefore such commodity is considered a luxury.

I can digest well with seafood since i have my digestive problem such as hyperacidity. Eating seafood i found more tasty and look fresher without guilty of eating too much of it despite my allergy to shrimp but yet i still prefer eating tuna or cakalang (a type of tuna from north indonesia) rather than pork or beef if its available in the table. I have also limitation due to my health problems to consume more on proteins rather than fat. About appealing actualy chicken do so especially if its in the form of Kentucky fried chicken or McDonald if you like eating fastfood. Meay can appeal attractively such as steak or barbeque but despite the appearance, peopld will prefer to eat fish in order to avoid hypertension and stroke or not to make worse their health problems.

First off seafood contains omega 3 which is important for the heart, and many other nutritional values.. The other reason is the fact that most sea food is caught fresh.. So they are not fed or pumped up with hormones, and other things to get better quality meat.. A lot of animals on the farm are giving hormores, corn, and other supplements that they would not eat if it wasnt for human interferes.. Those hormores are found in the meat, and we ingest it.. Hints why our pre teens are hitting puberty so early.. In a sense we are giving them extra hormores.. 1+1=2

Well, for me, I think more than the nutritional value is the price cost. Here in our country where there is abundant supply of seafood, the price of in terms weight as compared to the meat products is almost half. Well, actually depending on the kind of seafood, but my favorite ones really cause half the price that of meat.

I really do not know the answer to this one because I love fish because of its nutritional value and I like chicken only in meat. I must say that I only like white meat and not red. so my reason is something different. i am not a meat lover at all. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead

I prefer seafood because it's easier to cook and to eat. Meat can be tough and you need to chew and chew and I hate doing that. Seafood doesn't take that long a time to cook and it can taste awesome. I do eat meat once in a while like once a week but I prefer seafood above all.

I like sea food and meat, but I more prefer to eat fish with rice. I think, sea food have more high cholesterol than fish. Some times in restaurant, I like to eat sea food with fried rice. Very delicious and some times I combined meat and seafood to eat with fried rice. That's no problem for me.

Seafoods can be safer then meat. It is because seafoods makes you healthy than meat. Meat can produce unhealthy that may cause athritis and more oils. Meat is delicious but not for the health. I have been experiencing eating meats and it makes me athritis or Rheumatic.

Personally I cannot stand the taste or smell of seafood. I guess some people like it because certain kinds are expensive and only served rarely as a treat or when you're in an area near water. Every time my family goes down the shore they buy it and say its of high quality and stink up the place. I wish I liked it seafood is very healthy but I just can't stand it.
