Here in the philippines is not strict about smoking or about liquor. I mean here even a kid can buy a pack or a piece of cigarette. Even can buy a bottle of liquor. What alarming here the age of people who are engaging in smoking are really getting younger and younger. As young as 10-14 yrs old they are already a chain smoker. They start young definitely die young. The government really should focus in this issue. Maybe our country earn much on that yet our health are at risk.

I agree, the government needs to help this innocent souls. They need to have a strong penalty or policy to those shops selling such products to teenagers.

I don't think that politics can be eradicated overnight. The system itself is the root of everything. If this will reform to a new system, then it will make the governance effective to take its role in a certain state.

I must support your views...Government must take the important steps forward for the innocent people, make them aware of the more usage of substances in large quantity ,and make an age limit for healthy city.

True indeed, anyone can buy those things even at a young age. It all boils down to enforcement and discipline. But don't even wonder why, our country are full of corrupt officials and enforcers and that is why many laws are violated and not even punished. Sad to note that this is happenings. I feel sorry for our country and our people.

Yes...you have a point...maybe, it is one of the reason that the Sin Tax bill should be implemented, because it will hampered people in buying those items because of its high prices...

I am an outsider so I see clearly what is going on. You have laws for everything, the problem is nobody CARES,AND THERE IS NO ENFORCEMNT, you must have those things or there will never be achange. your police sit around and get drunk while playing crds on duty! The people must rise up and change it them selves. Rum cheap rice expensive. why? I am your neighbor but why charge me more than your filippino Neighbor? They try to do it all the time. nuff said

I don´t think banning liquor sale to children would change anything. They will send their older friends to the shops. Maybe if the fashion changes they won´t want to drink nor smoke. But this has to involve all the society - the udult should start considering smoking as sth passé. This can be done, worse with drinking.

The one measure was to introduce higher taxes for these products. This is to discourage many from buying it and at the same time the proceeds for this supposed tax is to support the health department's budget to the diseases that the this product can do its users. The only we lack in here is a law that will prohibit or stop underage from buying these products. I think that should be the next the lawmakers would do to curb addiction to this sin products.

I think that we should not rely too much on the government in this issue. Local government might pass an ordinance to answer the effect of these practices but we may have to wait when it comes to national government. I suppose you heard of he Sin Tax Bill that never got anywhere. The thing is, I don't whether the national government prioritizes this or not. The DOJ must have a campaign but that is hardly visible and heard. In addition, you have to count peer pressure and adolescent rebelliousness in the mix. Perhaps, we can change it little by little and we can start it now.

Yes. Indeed the government needs to do something about this. However, more than the government, I would say it would be more of the responsibility of the parents. One of the common mistakes of the Filipinos would be blaming everything to the government. I don't see anything wrong about this. The government is really at fault. But maybe... just maybe before we throw the tomatoes to others, let's ask ourselves what did we ever do to avoid this from happening. The parents of those kids should know at least how to reprimand their children. Child rearing is really difficult especially when we talk about instilling discipline. Still, I believe that it's better that we rear our children with rods and let them know what's right or wrong rather than just letting them do what they want and suffer in the end.

I must say it is getting younger and younger. The government must be alarmed already because if this continues, I feel sorry for our children's future. They are our future generation. I know we must not blame everything to the government but at least what they can do is to create laws regarding smoking restriction and so with liquors. It is ravaging already.

hi friend, oh that's really sad. The young children are spoiling their lives, if that's the case family members should first try to teach them.I know its difficult. And many may not listen. Even if they listen at home ,we don't know about the bad company outside as we cant be with them 24hours. In this way the future of the country is spoiled too. The Government should really get certain steps regarding this. Its also upon the whole nation ,you should take steps to stop this. If everyone starts fighting for the right thing then definitely you can get the change in time.

I guess the government should not be all to blame because we people have the mind to think what is wrong or right. children who buy these kind of products should be prohibited because of their age now since the government can't control these kind of doing, parents or the families should prohibit their young ones.
