I think it depends on each individual of what personality and character they have. People born with different personality and character that is why it also reflects different motivation in attaining goal. Like what you said about pressure. Some people make it as a motivation because they like challenge and so, its fine with them if they feel pressure too much, but some people don't like it because they knew being pressure will just makes them feel nervous and it would be hindrance for their motivation that is why they fail.

I don't like pressure at all. I want always to be inspired than to be pressured. Yes its true. If I am to be pressured at work or in attaining some goals, well, I can't move, I feel stress and totally depress for the whole day!
At first I didn't know that my motivational skills is needs to be inspired, but years go by, as I analyze myself, I realize I must always be inspired to be motivated every day.
Well, I think this is me. I don't know others. That is why I always watch anime series and movies on internet. I have lots of inspiration on movies and on anime series because I've lots of crushes in all the anime series and movies I watch.

P.S.
If I feel inspired all day and all night, believe me, I don't feel pressure at all even though there are so many deadlines to do. I mean I need to be inspired so as not to think about pressure because I don't like challenge at all. Some people think as a challenge its because maybe they think of pressure all the time.

I must admit that I work well with pressure, as it motivates me. But I like to feel free, so the pressure has to be internal, in other words, it has to come from myself! If I feel pressured then my reaction can be the opposite!

Yeah. The pressure must be within. It must not be a bad pressure. It's like no challenge if there is no pressure,

Yeah. But pressure is always there. You cannot avoid pressure. You just have to be pressured enough to perform. You cannot give your best performance yes.

Thank you for post this discussion. I really don't like pressure. I think a person could lose his activity under pressure. And also, pressure really can make a person ill. Pressure contributes to a lot of disease. But , maybe someone like pressure. Anyway, under certain pressure, you have enough motivation.

Yeah. I have experience this many times in my life. Too much pressure can make me feel so worried. When did you experience the most pressure?

At first I thought I did not, but then I realize that I work well with pressure. In fact, I think I work better with pressure. For example, when there is a deadline, I work faster and harder because I know that I have to meet the deadline. Or if I am working on a hard case, I do more research. When I have a strict boss, I become more careful. Not only is it, as you say, motivation, but also a realization that I have standards to keep and aspire to. I guess some people will agree with me that standards become more lax and work becomes slower when there is no pressure. :)

Yeah. That's the bad thing too. You don't want pressure but without pressure, you won't exert enough effort. You become lax and you won't be challenged.

It really depends on what is going on under pressure. If it is a job, I can work under pressure and succeed. As I have done many times because I know the outcome or what to expect. Usually, being under pressure pushy me to do better

Yeah. It helps someone to have focus and later on perform well because of pressure. In a way, it forces you not negatively but positively.

I do not work well uunder pressuse. A reasonable deadline is helpful to keep me motivated, but when uunder actual pressure, I don't get anything done.

Yeah. We are the same. There is a deadline for us. But it is not pressure. Set a deadline so that you will be motivated to finish it.

I can work well under pressure provided no one has to supervise me constantly while I am finishing the task because I wouldn't be able to concentrate by then.

I normally do work better under pressure, usually time constraints. If I am given too much time to do anything, I end up wasting it but when it gets to the last minute I hop into full gear and get super focused. I don't work well under the pressure of being observed. I tend to freeze up and make many mistakes.

Yeah. When being observed, I get conscious of people watching me do my job so it makes me uneasy. Thanks for commenting.

It depends on what work I'm doing. If the work is unfamiliar, I don't think I'll work well under pressure. If I've done the work before, I think I'll be fine under pressure. Although of course, it will also depend on the nature of work. For example, it's a heart surgery. You're doing the surgery, and you're having a headache at the same time. Assuming that I've already done heart surgery before, I still won't do the job since the person's life depends on it. I'll let other doctors take it instead.

Nice one. Heart surgery is a lot of pressure because you are dealing with lives here. But if you are a master of that, then you'll just experience little pressure but you still have to be careful. Just be confident.

It depends. Sometimes I work excellently with pressure because I know there is little time. But sometimes I don't work well.

I guess to me it would depend on what kind of pressure? If it's pressure to get a lot done in a certain amount of time, I'm not that good. If my boss is standing around me, I do all right because I know what my job consists of. I do it even if the boss is watching me.

Pressures are always present at work and it depends on us how we face or handle it. If we take it as a challenge then it would be good but if we take it as a mess or something makes our task more in trouble then it is bad for us. Yes, pressure is a good motivation, a hindrance to work well sometimes. It will make us not on focus sometimes.. It is about the person how he handles pressure.

Hi jvincent, i agree with your view that some people do work excellently with pressure. Well, different people take pressure at a different level. To some, a little request is a pressure to them due to their lack of confidence and inexperience. To some, bigger challenge is consider as a minor pressure because they can withstand and handle their so-called pressure with confidence.
Pressure usually arises in circumstances whereby it plays a part in whether or not you will achieve your goals, right? Pressure is the Pressure is the feeling you get the moment you set a deadline on your goals. In short, a goal is a dream with a deadline.
Some people dislike pressure because it makes them uncomfortable and uneasy. They prefer life without pressure, and easy going. On the one hand, it is good because pressure in long term distorts our health. However, without pressure, there is no force to move us to act, and a dream without deadline is just forever a dream that will never happen. Think about those situations where you had to perform under pressure. The only reason you felt that pressure was because you had to do something within a certain amount of time.
Pressure is something that you can handle if you know what to do. Think about it, when you freeze up under pressure, it usually means that you do not have confidence in performing the task at hand in the amount of time that you are given to perform it. In order to deal with pressure, there is one thing you need to do. You need to get confident. To work well with pressure, you need confidence. To have confidence is simply by being prepared. For example, when you have done something repeatedly, your level of belief in yourself rises. As your confidence rises, your ability to deal with pressure will also rise.
Nevertheless, this does not mean you will not feel any pressure. It just means you will be able to act despite of the pressure. Once you get use to working under pressure, you may start to actually like it because it helps you take immediate action. I put myself under pressure every time I set a goal because I know if I do not, I will tend to delay taking the necessary actions in order to accomplish the goal. Usually setting a deadline is enough to put enough pressure on me to make it work.
Sometimes I find that I need to "up the ante", meaning to put more at risk in order to increase the pressure, which causes me to take immediate action. The reason I am able to do this is because I am used to working under these conditions, and the reason for that is because I have this so many times. In dealing with pressure, it all comes down to building confidence in yourself and your abilities through lots of practice performing under pressure.
Put pressure on yourself to perform at a high level because when the time comes to perform on the public stage, you will be able to feed from it instead of freeze from it. All the best! Have a good day! =)

Yeah. This is right. You have to put a lot of pressure on yourself to excel highly. Unless you will be aiming low and not reach a single goal. For a particular tasks, it will prolong if you don't have a certain goal and deadline. That's why pressure is needed. Challenge yourself to do better and you will do better.
