There is no good driver on the road.

I have an uncountable near miss encounters on the road. No matter how you take cautions only one chance of misfortune, a crazy driver will cause trouble on the road. Just to share one and the latest of my experience, I was riding on our jeep going back home. Upon approaching an intersection, a motorcycle suddenly overtook from my left and suddenly turned to the right direction. If I was not able to hit the brake pedals at the right time, I could have hit them. My emotions suddenly flare up. If I wasn't with my wife and our baby, I think I did chase the guy or shout at them for being so reckless. I lost my mood and it feels like my blood pressure is boiling up my temper. I feel bad that I was not able to reprimand that guy. In deed, there is no good driver to a crazy driver. What could have happened if didn't have the brakes? As I recall it was raining so hard. And every time it rains that hard, I always lose my brakes because it gets wet. I feel so anxious now. What else could I do to respond to their existence on the road?

Hi Danzy, Sounds like there are no road rules there or else there are no police to enforce those road rules. I can only suggest that you drive more slowly and count to ten when something scary/dangerous happens. Counting to ten will ease the pressure in your mind.

There are traffic police in our area but they are not as visible as in other countries like USA. For me, I dont bother with my emotions anymore. I just breathe in and out. It is a complete waste of blood If I brood with it.

Very well said , there is no good driver on the road. It's all about self consciousness. since, you are married so must be matured enough by your age and more concerned about your spouse n children's safety while driving. Now this is the basic difference between you and the biker. But its better to be LATE than NEVER.Think had you not applied break at right moment then it would have been a different story altogether. Its always big vehicles who are blamed and action always taken against them, when there is an accident occurred on road. People must practice how to take a safe ride on road.

I couldn't imagine what to do if I missed it. I just came from a very hard financial problem when my wife got confine in ICU due to a congenital heart disease (VSD). Another, criminal liabilities would arise not to mention that I could be sued to pay and be imprisoned. Its hard. I do not have control over the mind of other drivers so I'll just have to keep being careful.

That is so true. No matter how good you are and how cautious you are, still accidents do happen. It's out of our control because the are so many reckless drivers out there. Worst is even if they are the one in the wrong place, yet when you accidentally hit them, still you are the one to be sent to jail. I always remind my husband to get patient with those people, especially those riding on motorcycles. Most of them are really reckless and keeps on overtaking even if they saw a vehicle coming. They will even madly look at you when you don't let them pass. Oh well, we just really need to be patient with them.

That's something insane, even if they recklessly drive the fact that you are involve with the accident, you will still have to take your share as a consequence.

There are really crazy drivers. I nearly had a head on collision because the car opposite my direction overtook the vehicles in front of him and that crazy driver did not flash his signal light or even his headlight.

I also had that kind of experience. I just jumped to the road shoulder to avoid them. Also, I have some experience that if I didn't do something an overtaking car could have had a head on collision.

There are those drivers that are so careless and it's really a wonder on how they were able to get a driving license! these drivers should be reprimanded because most of them are not really worthy to seat behind the steering wheel.

Not all drivers with a professional drivers license drive professionally. I would like to mention that red tape in government brought the licenses to the wrong hands. Some doesn't even know what a traffic sign means.

The only thing that they need to know is having self-discipline. Otherwise, there are a lot of people will be in danger like vehicular accidents.

The government should also impose a stricter regulation. Make the issuance of licenses stricter. Or impose higher fines in the event of an accident.

Firstly you are not doing yourself any good or any favour by getting your blood pressure up or boiling up your temper, yes I know there are plenty of idiots on the road, but by getting angry and annoyed you are not hurting them, you are hurting yourself. High blood pressure and unnecessary stress will cause you health problems. You hear of so much road rage now in todays society, what if you chased the guy and challenged him, and he pulled a knife out on you? It does happen believe me, your wife and baby would be without you. Sorry to sound harsh, whilst I hate crazy drivers and I get annoyed they don't get punished, I have to think of myself and my family.

Having a lot of memoirs of them made me learn and earn patience. But I swear, although I can handle the anger in a better way, I still the same emotions. It feels like I want to give them a lesson.

I agree, no matter how you take all precuations and drive safely when others never care about their life- that's where accident happens. This happens with me many times- reckless motorcycle drivers. That is why I cannot blame those trucks/buses or private vehicle when they bump on to those motorcycles.

Most of my near misses involves motorcycles. I just wonder why they act to be so reckless on the road.

Good day to you, Well, as the many people says, everybody is accountable when you are driving a vehicle. Because, it doesn't matter how careful you are when you drive, others wont. And perhaps, this is the main reason why others says, when you are driving, you must know how to be offensive and be defensive driver. As these two attitudes are really a must when you are holding your steering wheels.

I also drive "offensively" when I accelerate faster only when the road is clear. There are drivers who just cut another's way to insert to throttle as fast as they could.

hi, yes,i will agree on that there is no good driver to a reckless and crazy drivers, because how even the driver is very soft and very careful in driving it will be regardless if they meet reckless and crazy driver, that is why good driver should always be aware to those kind of driver on the road.

Given the circumstances you described, there is nothing more you could have done. When you have a driver who is going to drive recklessly like that; who is going to user their smaller footprint on the road to make a risky move, the problems they could create is all on them. Driving with many other people on the road with different agendas, talking on their phones or reading or whatever else just makes the whole experience harder. You can't know what happened to that driver before you saw him, I know myself I get aggravated by people driving along not paying attention to what they are doing, driving slowly in the passing lane, all kinds of things. I recently witnessed a driver going slow in the fast lane, she wanted to move over because she was in the wrong lane. I was always taught that was my mistake, not anyone else's so I should proceed to the next intersection and turn around since it was my error. I guess that is not the case anymore as I see people stopping in a non-turning lane so they can move over into the lane they need. Anyway this driver saw an opening and accelerated so she could get into that slow lane ahead of the oncoming car, but she failed to realize the traffic in the lane was stopped, so she moved into the turn lane, and proceeded to run into the rear of a stopped car without even hitting her brakes! I think it would be better for everyone if people put down their phones and other distractions and paid attention to the task at hand, driving their motor vehicle.

Oh yes. That is another thing! Some drivers thought that multitasking while driving is OK. The road is fatal such that a couple of second losing an eye on the road will result to an eventual crash. you can never expect what drivers ahead or behind you may do.

A little advice for you always drive safely and be aware. Its good to keep reminding yourself that road is a dangerous place. For those reckless drivers i suggest you to pray to God to forgive them and to keep your heart away from anger whenever you face them.
