Yesterday I thought I would make a big pot of soup with the weather changing all the time now. I also made a banana pudding with vanilla wafers and bananas in it. Well I had talked to my girlfriend Saturday night and I told her I was going to share some soup with her and her mother. So took over a big bowl of soup, pudding and french bread. After her and her mom ate I called her to make sure it was ok. She replied you know I dont eat carrots but this soup was so good it did not taste like a carrot! I laughed cause I had never thought about it. Then her next comment is this time change is killing me. Its dark outside not even 6pm already ate. full tummy, want to go to sleep and its only 6pm! She says I usually dont eat til around 6pm so its all your fault!!! I laughed and said yea I know I am aleady headed to bed too! So let that be a lesson changing clock time, and having a good meal = going to sleep to early!

You sound like me here. I cook at least 2 meals a day here. Even when Im here alone. I cooked chicken soup, and banana muffins yesterday. I love to cook, my mom taught me well. Plus its cheaper than eating out.

Homemade always tastes better but lately I have had to watch the prices. Grocery prices here are going up and sometimes my husband and I can eat out cheaper than purchasing all the ingredients to make a meal. And I know the restaurants are hurting. Thanks good to know there are some of us that still love to cook and opt out of the fast food!

Same for stores here in Mexico. I have been shopping more at the outdoor markets or swap meets. veggies and meats are cheaper there.

I love to cook and some days I get in the mood and cook for more than one day. This long weekend I had not much to cook because I had many dishes prepared so that I could have fun with family and friends. I had visitors on Thursday, Friday and again on Sunday. I had nice homecooked food for everyone and the only thing I bought (a very good buy) was a chocolate cake that I used as a dessert for everyone of them. I also prepare apetizers that can be kept in the fridge just in case someone drops by in the evening.

That is really amazing and praise-worthy. You know, cooking is one thing I am not good at all. Nobody would come to my house if I tell them I would be cooking on that day ! Ha ha !

Awww I bet they would come. Its not hard to learn to cook. I make everything from homemade dips for chips to fresh bread out of the oven. Gotta make a turkey and stuffing and all the trimmings next week for Thanksgiving.

Soup and a fresh loaf of bread is what I made yesterday. I made vegetable beef soup, with onions, carrots, celery, garlic, tomatoes, potatoes, peas, green beans, corn and some nice chuck roast diced up. With the fresh bread to dip in it, it was awesome. I still have half the pot in the fridge. That's gonna come in handy when it gets cold this week. To me, there's nothing better than eating a stick-to-your-ribs, down-home hot meal on a cold evening and then falling asleep while watching football. Life's little moments shouldn't be taken for granted.

So true matersfish! we nearly made the same soup except I put a head of cabbage in mine with it. Yea I can live on soup if i had too. I would rather eat veggies than meat so I shove the beef back in the soup for hubby and I enjoy all the veggies and broth. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe you are a good cook. Imagine, your girlfriend does not eat carrot and yet you had successfully made her took carrot soup.

LOL I guess I am a good cook. Hubby always says he overeats and I love cooking. Yea that was a laugh for me to learn she did not like carrots but actually ate them in the soup I made. My broth turned into a tomato base soup.

Homemade is always better! You know what you are eating, don't have to drive here or there and definitely less expensive. I always cook. It is rare that we go out for dinner. Usually just special occasions. This week I made chicken, penne with vodka sauce, a huge pot of tomato sauce, angel hair pasta, fried eggplant, eggplant parmigiana, pound cake and a carrot cake. That doesn't count the mashed potatoes, spinach and all the other side dishes that went with each meal. It is nice to hear more people are cooking in than out. A lot healthier too!

While I love to cook hubby and I usually eat out once a week just for the change of pace. I went to the store the other day and was going to get veggies to make fresh salads. By the time I would have bought all the vegetables not including the dressing to go with it, It would have cost me 12.00 So down the street is this steak house and they will make me two house salads, and 2 fresh loaves of bread for only 7.00. So now when we are having a salad with our meal, I just go and get the salads. Unfortunately some items today in the stores are not as cheap.

That is great that you can pick them up at the steak house all ready with fresh bread too. There are always little things we can do to stretch a dollar.

I have been sleepy all day, so the time change has been hard for me. It feels like I went on a trip to another time zone, but I'm even more tired than when I'm traveling. My house was really hot today to make it even harder. I do enjoy soup when its chilly and today wasn't the day.

I know what you mean I would love to move to one of the states that dont change their time zone. My friend laughs at me cause I get to talk to him in the evenings when he is not busy because now we are only one hour apart. Spring and summer we are 2 hours apart so by the time he comes on I am almost ready for bed.
