Ya think I'd learn how to say "no"

But... a kitten in need is a kitten in need...
A friend of the roomie's from the old Trek club contacted her and told her about a kitten that had been dumped out by her place.
She lives in the back of beyond between Bastrop (where all those fires were last year) and Lockhart. The kitten was actually dumped closer to her folks' place just down the road from her. Her mom told her that someone slowed down and then threw something out of the car.
Why on EARTH would someone dump a beautiful, healthy, well socialized kitten out in the middle of nowhere? A place where coyotes are known to roam?
They didn't feed her, but did give her some milk... so she came to us starving and has eaten steadily.
She's 3 and a half pounds, making her about 3 months old. She's very people friendly, and she did pretty good once we got her screened and proven to be healthy with the other cats, except a few of the other cats weren't doing so good with her!
The pix was from my cell phone, and had a bit of a problem looking away from the flash, but you can see what a pretty girl she is.
Oh, and we've named her Heidi because she climbs EVERYTHING! We trimmed her nails in hopes to keep her off the screen door!
I've contacted a person who was wanting a kitten, so maybe she'll have a good home.
oh, and this is the "door prize" I mentioned some place else!
So how was you weekend?

I hope you can get her adopted since you know someone who was interested in a kitten. She looks to be in pretty good shape despite being hungry.

What an extremely pretty cat! People that do those kinds of things to animals should be horsewhipped. I'm so glad she was rescued. And I know she has a wonderful place to stay until you find her a home. Aunty Elic's Home for Unwanted Kitty-Cats. I had a cat that constantly climbed up the drapes, all the way to the top. Then she would cry for someone to get her down. After a few years I had to replace the drapes. The only reason they held up that long was because they were a thick, rough fabric. And there were three pairs of them so she plenty of area to spread her claw marks over. I replaced them with drapes made of a smoother, silkier fabric. That stopped her climbing them.
I hope that woman you spoke of wants her. Who wouldn't? A face like that is awfully hard to resist.

I asked the guy if he had a chance to talk to his sister, but I'm not going to pressure him...
She might've been pretty eager for attention, but while she climbed the screen door, I haven't seen her climb fabric - yet, not that we have a lot of fabric for climbing...
She does have a very sweet face and you should'a heard her scream bloody murder when the vet took blood!

She's so pretty Elic. I don't know why people do what they do, just don't have any conscience of any sorts. I couldn't even let my cats outside when they were living, for fear something would happen to them. And these people come along and throw her out the window.....talk about the difference from A to Z.
But then there are people like you, who take in the poor little discarded kittens and bring them back to health and give them love and hugs. What a crazy world we live in with so many different types of people.
I hope this person takes her and gives her a great home for the rest of her life. That makes it all worth it.

Sounds like you had a fun time with the grandkid and friend! I don't do Halloween, for all kinds of reasons...
She is a pretty girl, and so well socialized, not like Sparky, who is friendly enough to us, but wary of strangers or Kismet who likes to be pet, but don't pick her up! We suspect that if she sees the others jumping, like Daisy, she'll start - she wants to be held that badly!

Oh yeh, I forgot, and about my weekend, it was great! I went to the Halloween party which I mentioned in another discussion, and had a ton of fun. There was sooo much food, people, costumes, and I really got my exercise in by running and watching my granddaughter and her friend go trick or treating! Had a great time and I had to carry Lucy's candy in the back of my hood because it was getting to heavy for her to carry, lol! And we didn't even go that far...never got to the end of her street even. People were very generous this year.

I expect that the other cats were jealous. Heidi sounds like a good name for her.

People are so cruel! Instead of taking the kitten to a shelter they just throw it out of the car! Those people should be thrown from a speeding car to see how they like it!
Nice you took Heidi in and hopefully she will have a good home in no time! If it wasn't for you she might of been eaten by the coyotes!
My weekend was like this. I did laundry, worked saturday for 5 and a half hours. Sunday I did the morning feeding at the stable, watched the Packers beat the Cardinals and spent time on the computer.
I wish I was working at the stable more! I do miss it and everytime I go out there, something is always different. New horses have come in or other horses have left to be boarded elsewhere! They have two new cats where adopted. They are not to friendly yet but hopefully they will be someday! That was my weekend!

They at least stopped before they threw her out, those sad stories of kittens tossed out break my heart.
I wish I were able to go out to a stable, just to pet horses, since I'm so stove up these days (really bad day today) but I guess I'll just have to look at them.

Oh I have a cousin like you! heart too big for your budget, she has 11 cats now. They have a lot of property though and some have taken the horse barn (more adoptees she heard about and couldn't not love) while others like the house. One has made friends with the chickens and stays in the coupe area all the time..lol There is a special place in heaven for those whose love rules their lives.

She's a cutie Elic. She's the same colours as banjo is.
My daughter is visiting for a few days. It's been very laid back but this morning she cooked the most beautiful crepes with strawberries and a little maple syrup I have ever eaten., Then tonight it was lemon chicken with broccoli and cauli in a delicious cheese sauce and potato. It was so good and as good as you would get in a restaurant. At this rate, I'll be sorry to see her go.

What a gorgeous kitty!! Of course you couldn't say no! I'm glad she found a temporary home with you, or I hope it's temporary as you have an swful lot of cats!
In your place I would not have said no, either. It doesn't take much to help an animal in need and if you don't do it, who will? I can't imagine why anyone would do that to an animal rather than taking them to a shelter or giving them away. That person is either a sociopath who should be put away or a desperate jobless person that can't feed Heidi anymore and was hoping for a home but then why throw them from a car?! At least they slowed down, and near someone's house. I hope Heidi has a great life.

There is no excuse for dumping any animal in this way. I thought that everyone knew that they can be taken to shelters. I hope there is a special place reserved in you-know-where for these kinds of people.
This kitty is cute and looks like she's healthy. Kudos to you for taking her in. She looks like a cat that I had for 13 years. We really bonded with her and I still grieve that we had to send her to Rainbow Bridge.

It's so hard to say no to cute pets! Especially when you see a picture of them, turning down animals is hard.

Aw, such a purrty thing.
Maybe whoever dumped her did it because she climbed the drapes?

She looks so pretty. How could anyone do that to an animal. She is lucky she was saved by someone. I hope you can find her a good home soon, before you get attached, and if not you have another cat!
