Today I think that the cassettes and recorders are already antiques. However, hard to believe that they are still used in the school. For example, they hand in English cassettes and they students will listen to it and finish the listening comprehension homework at home. Namely you have to play it by the recorder. Whereas I think today most families don't have the recorders. Why not they hand in CD? It is much more convenient, cheaper and the sound result will be better a lot.

Youless, my family don't use any cassette recorder anymore since the old one had spoil. Lucky that the school where my son is studying, they gives CD for him to learn at home. Do you mean the school where your son is studying still use cassette? Hope the management team in that school will start to upgrade their study materials.

Hi youless!
Prior to my present job, I worked in a Cooperative and I was appointed as a temporary secretary of the Board. I have a mini recorder which I used to record the meetings and I'm sure until now that recorder is still there and they are still using it. I used to buy the tiny cassette and I am amazed of it because they look so cute. I can use the cassette repeatedly because the content can be over written. I am not sure about the term.
However, at home we don't have that particular thing because we are already using DVD.
Have a nice day!

Some schools have tighter budgets meaning that they cannot afford to splash out on the latest cd equipment, I have been in schools where the cd players have been brought in especially by the teachers, otherwise yes they would have to rely on cassette players. Some teachers used to use cassette players but they are not very practical when you want to find a certain track, you have to constantly rewind or fast forward when as you know on a cd you can just jump to a track.

I am a firm believer that if something isnt broken then you should keep using it. I had a cassette player in my van that I had up until a year ago. I used it all the time. It had a great radio on it and I loved it. A lot of people would have taken it out and installed a new cd player but it would just cost more money so I didnt bother. This van I have now came with a cd player but the radio is not as good :-/

It is hard to believe that people still use them, and that too in schools. I think the people are very much aware of the CDs and there will be some other reason behind using those cassette.
They will have something in their which is not converted into the CDs format so they still using it. It will be difficult to use them because even if the tape recorder once existed in our home now it will be somewhere in the dustbin.

I think they're using it because it's still usable.
I suggest that MP4 is much convenient when it comes to recording and also for listening after they have recorded everything.
