Oh. I hope it won't happen again. Fortunately, because I love my computer so much, I see to it that I shut it down before I sleep and turn it off safely. In that way, I can save energy and my computer is not in a great risk. You should do that as well. Always keep in mind that if there is no one who will use the computer anymore, shut it down. But, don't be too upset about it. It's a mortal sin or whatsoever, it was just a lil' mistake. but I hope and we hope that you have learned your lesson. Good night.

There's no problem with that. Oh wait, say hi to higher electricity bills hehe Depending on the specs of your computer, there's really no problem even if you don't turn you computer for even a week. Just be careful next time and turn off you computer if you're not downloading anything at all. hehe Have a good day! :)

Hi dear, In office, I switch off the computer everyday before leaving to home. At home, rarely I sit with computer. I don’t get time to spend on computer at home. If I sit with it, I won’t forget to switch off after my work. I am extra careful as the electricity charges are high (Rs. 7 per unit). Your danger hubby must be worried on the bill so gave you a warning. Nothing to worry, experience is the great teacher. Hereafter you never forget to switch off the computer.

Hi, Ravisian is right, if it is a desktop PC, no problem in letting it run overnight. In fact given the right temperature and voltage it can run 24/7 as it is designed to do. In our place, one reason I turn off the PC is to prevent it from overheating if the room temperature goes up beyond 26 Celsius. I have seen some instances of fire started from an overheating PC left in a room without temperature control system.

I also forget to shut down my computer sometimes. There were times that I let the computer on overnight when I download something from the internet. I have been downloading a file for months but it's not yet finished. However, this download is not continuous I also let my computer rests.

Hi surekha, it is not such a big blunder since it does happen occasionally with all of us, so it is not fair to make you feel guilty about something that can happen to anyone. However, it is of course better to shut it down..I dont think, now you will ever forget to shut it down after all the fuss , all the best

I did leave my computer to be on for a whole day and a night when I tried to scan and fix my hard disk . However, I did on the air-conditioning and the fan to ensure it would not be over heated. Before I could manage to leave my computer to be on for a whole day and a night, I must accessed to the setting of my computer to disable the automatic turn off feature for my hard disk. With this feature, you can set the time to turn off your computer monitor and your hard disk when they are in idle mood. Then you will not repeat the same mistake in forgetting to turn off your computer.

Yes, it happened to me several times with my laptop. Sometimes, when I am tired, I lay down my bed for a while and then I just fell asleep and in the morning, the laptop is still turned on. But there are times that I just let it switched on because I am downloading movies. It usually takes a few hours to complete to I just let it be.

That happens to me everytime I'm so tired of working all night long. That would be for at least 5 hours straight without turning it off. Good thing, I make use of the time, electric bill - I'm into downloading e-books and some stuff, autosurf while I'm asleep. But there, it is still a waste of money and some resources. That's why now, if I feel the sleepiness, I would turn off my PC and give myself a favor to sleep. Tahnks. Nice one.

I never experienced falling asleep without turning the computer off except when it's intentional, like when I download a lot of stuff. When I download big files I always download it when I'm off to sleep so that way when I wake up, the file is already done downloading and I can use it for whatever. But my mother and older brother does it all the time though, so you're not the only one. hehe

Well, I usually leave my laptop running even during my sleep. Those were the times when I am downloading big files into it. But of course, you should always be cautious on where your computer resides as overheating may occur. Be especially sure that the computer is situated in a well ventilated place with the cooling fans not clogged of dirt and obstructed. If you are using a laptop, try using cooling pads. I have instances when I was having a dedicated electric fan for my computer as air conditioning system is quite expensive.

Yes it happened with me one time when i was using Intel Pentium 4 PC with 128Mb Ram. My pc was corrupted with lots of spyware and adworms, but then i thought of cleaning the pc in one day itself and kept it on for the whole night. There were about 2000 spywares injected... :( And actually i didn't forget to shutdown my pc, but, i purposely kept it on to remove all spywares...hehehehe...
