Oh man lol i am sooo engrossed in books sometimes and i also get so excited in reading a book that i end up disappointed. and it happened last night. For a few weeks now i am saving for a copy of Where We Belong by Emily Giffin. I started it reading last night and sad to say it was very disappointing. the plot was very good but the ending was hanging, it left me hanging and speculating! How i wish she is writing a sequel. The thing is when i am left hanging, i stayed up awake lol thinking of it and what ifs and how i wish it was written the other way. oh well here i go again.

yes there were books that i was not satisfied with the ending. though i wouldn't say that it left me hanging. my usual reaction to a bad ending would be: "what the..?", and then move on with it. that author would then be on my list of whose-book-to-not-read.

oh well.. i've got authors like that too. that was when they wrote that book either when they were a novice, or when they got over their heads due to fame. i hope it was just because there's a sequel they would want you to be getting interested in.

So is/was this book intended as part of a continuing story (With a "to be continued"..) page at the end,or was it intended to be complete, but leaving more unanswered situations and questions that will NEED another book to tie them up? If it's a continuing story, fair enough..you have to leave the audience wanting more..but if it wasn't,it's only fair to the reader to tie up the loose ends.. Getting engrossed in a series of linked books can be frustrating that way,if you're waiting for the follow on episode to come out to get further with the story.. But then, some stories just get away from the writer, and expand beyond the original concept..I started reading Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" Fantasy series, which was apparently originally conceived as a Trilogy..He passed away 2 Years after publishing episode 11(!),leaving Partly completed manuscripts and notes for the story finale with his family for another writer to complete..Episodes 12 & 13 have been published as Joint written, and #14 is in progress, hopefully tying up the story He started with publication due in 2013..

Yes it would have been if it was also said that there will be a next book but there was none.. so i guess that was meant to leave it hanging..for readers to think of what is to come.

That's why I love writing stories myself so much. This way I have the entire freedom of making up my own characters and endings. It happens even to the most eloquent and engaging writers to mess up the endings sometimes. Have you heard of those books with open endings where the readers have the chance to finish the story their own way? I read such a book once-it had three sample possible endings and some space for our own interpretation of the plot and ending.

Oh that happens to me a lot with books and movies. It is really dissapointing because then when I am done I feel like I wasted so much time reading or watching it because it wasent how I had hoped it would turn out. Maybe they will come out with a sequel to the book you didnt like. I have never heard of it.

Well, I'm not very keen on reading books. However, in my lifetime, I've had to read two, right at school, because to me was imposed. However, I can understand your disappointment about a story that you read, that has an ending that leaves you baffled. I believe that if it is a fictional story you can still say, "well, after all, it's just a story." However, when instead the book that you've read deals with topics that really happened, then it can leave you very badly!

I like to read book with unpredictable ending story. I always hope if the book that I have reading have happy ending stoyr. But sometimes, the ending story of book not like what I hope. I very disappointed. And, next, I never want to read book from that writer again. Sometimes the writer write a story that can make reader became curious
