I went and left my cat on the radiator where she looked like she wanted to climb on the table here by my computer but I had to use the bathroom so left her there and my glasses on the table too. I come back and she is on the table next to the computer sitting half way on my glasses! She is a chubby girl but it seems my glasses are made out of steel cause they did not break thank goodness! I would have been devastated to have to get another pair ordered bu T i know she didn't realize where she was sitting either. I personally have sat on a pair and broke them a few years or so ago. Has a pet ever broke anything of yours? Mine hasn't really, people have broken more things of mine than my pets. I wear glasses but for the computer I have to lie them to the side cause the computer screen is close enough for me to see it ( close up things are easy for me to see). Are you near or far sighted or have perfect visionary skills? LOL

I just went to the eye doctor and was told I need glasses. I picked out the frames and order the lenses. Now I am waiting for them to come in. Not bad for over 50. Need them for reading and the computer. Noticed that the words are starting to get a little blurry now. I have three cats and they do get into things but after 3 years of being told no to certain places and things they listen. They are really good and stick to the rules now. They have never broken anything, guess we are lucky in that sense.

My cat is usually pretty good at listening to most words except NO, LOL. She knows a few hand signals and phrases but if she wants something she won't give up too easily. I'm glad that they haven't broke anything. I can't remember anything they have broken either.

Hi NailTech, this is funny to have a cat sat on your glasses.. Hahaha.. Good thing it did not break. I do not have a pet, but I have broken my glasses many times because I myself accidentally sat on it. Hahaha.. I have short-sighted, could not see things far from me. Sometimes it is troublesome to wear glasses when using computer, I prefer not to wear but my glasses has computer lens which protects the eyes when using computer from the radiation. That is why last time they have a gadget called screen protector. Anyway, thanks for your sharing and it is amusing. :-P

I will try that the next time I go, it will be at least a year from now I'm sure due to lack of funds again bigtime. I do have a LCD monitor but it's not in use, just waiting for this old monitor to bite the dust. So far it's lasted ages, which is fine with me for now still. Thanks for the hints and info.

Oh yea, that is why it's so funny cause they didn't break. Otherwise it probably wouldn't have been so funny, LOL. It is such a big embarassment to sit on one's own glasses and break them or otherwise damage them, I know, LOL. I never heard of a computer lens that protects the eye from computer radiation. I should get those or that screen protector since I spend some quality time on here every day.

Yeap, u may visit the spectacles shops and inform them that you need a glasses with computer lenses. Nowadays not many people uses screen protector because it is bulky, normally used with CRT monitor. With current advanced technology, mostly are using LCD monitor or laptops, so screen protector is not needed. So, it is better to get a pair of glasses with computer lens that protect eyes from computer radiation. =)

ugh, that is terrible. other than some chewed up stuff, our cat really never did much. we dog sat a dog for a couple of weeks and he kept getting into the garbage which was a pain. i was not sorry to see him go!

Well, not so terrible as they didn't break at least. I've done worse to a pair I used to have. The dog getting into the garbage is not a nice thing, perhaps he was hungry all the time or the garbage wasn't secured enough for him not to get to it?

lol ~ you're very fortunate that she didn't break you glasses. when i was a kid, i wore glasses too & sat on them once & broke them. and i believe i broke two different pairs when i was playing basketball in gym class. yikes! i had a cat once who spontaneously jumped up & broke a halogen lamp once. i wasn't tooooo happy about that, but what can i say? he didn't mean to break it... :)

yes i feel fortunate. gym class and basketball will break them i'm sure if not handled properly but accidents do happen and will. yes they don't mean to break anything but like us, we all have accidental happenings.

I couldn't stop laughing as I know my cat's do this all the time. But mine have bent out of shape, and I had to take them in to be fixed. It's such a hassle, as I am partially blind so without my glasses I can't see. I had them break at work, and I was in such a panic. I am both, I can't see close up or far away.

Yea, it was kind of funny in a way. I hate when my glasses are out of shape, they just distort what I can see right or not and probably cause some headaches. It seems my eye sight is getting worse but the eye dr told me they are getting better last year which I find hard to believe. I still haven't gone to get my eyes checked this year. I only go like every 3+ years cause of no insurance.

I get mine checked every year as OHIP covers me (they will cover elder over a certain age, those under 18, and those with diseases). I find staring at a computer screen does that. I would go in saying I think my eyes got worse, he said it's just straining my eeyes. Have you tried making the font bigger? I make mine bigger so even after a few hours they arnt sore, and blurry.

Hi, NailTech. Sitting on your glasses. Apparently they didn't cause her any discomfort. And good thing they didn't break. I don't recall any of my cats breaking anything. I did have a cat that hated to see anything on any surface, though. If it was easily moved, like a napkin, pen or screwdriver, etc., she would push it off onto the floor. Luckily coffee cups and drinking glasses were too heavy or too big for her to bother with. But once I put my glasses down on an armchair in the living room. Later I forgot where they were and went looking for them. I couldn't find them anywhere. One of my cats was sleeping on the chair on my glasses. But not remembering where I left them I didn't know they were under her. Later, after she got up, I found the glasses and remembered putting them there. Then I realized she had been sleeping on them all that time. Cats. Ya gotta love 'em.

No she didn't feel them either it seems, silly kitty. Your cat was probably playing with the items on the surface, mine did that alot too. I'm glad you finally got your glasses after looking for them. Cats can be mischievous. Not always on purpose, though. In their mind they are just being cats.

Well I have never that I can think of, had an animal sit on my glasses. I had bent them, etc if I accidently sat on them. I wear glasses for small print now. Wore glasses until I had cataract surgery a couple of yrs ago.

Yea that is basically what i did too, bent them after sitting on them. I would have thought they were in a safe place but cats do not know when they're sitting on something to break it. heck, she doesn't realize when she walks on my legs at night that she is too heavy for that either. Whereas when my one old bony lil cat did it it didn't bother me much cause he was so light weight and he seemed to know he was thin enough to walk on me. He ate alot just like her but never gained weight through his 20+ years of age. She doesn't realize it though LOL.

Believe it or not. I have a cupboard where I keep my stuff in the kitchen and the cupboard doubles as a display cabinet. I keep my dishes in one section, glasses in another and there is a lot of my lovely stuff in there. One side has sliding glass doors, so you can see my quirky, lovely stuff from the living room but on the kitchen side the glass sliding doors are missing. My cat will jump up into this cupboard and walk around in there trying to catch some ruddy insect that has flown in. Nothing has ever been broken.

I haven't had them break anything like my glasses, but they do very well with changing the channel on the television and of late they also are able to dial the telephone and call various friends of mine. Oh, Khuay will on occasion will steal my glasses and stash them somewhere in the house for me to find. It is rather hard because I need my glasses to find my glasses! I did slam my glasses in the car door the other night. That was VERY upsetting because it seems that I manage to break the glasses and frames just when I get them to that point of being comfortable to wear. Willy is the chubby boy that could easily break things by sitting on them, but he is very careful about where he sits and what he sits on. It was just recently that he has started jumping up on counters and the stack of doggy towels. There are times he doesn't make it up to the top of the stack of towels and a bunch of towels and the cat go hurtling to the floor. You see a large blue eyed cat on the floor with towels falling on his head...and he doesn't move until the towels stop falling on his head. You can't help to love the chubby guy! In the mornings he will curl up beside me while I wake up with my morning cuppa. He stays close to me throughout the day. At night he curls up beside me in bed and purrs me to sleep. Khuay will curl up on the other side and do the same thing... it is the best lullaby a person could have!

Khuay and the stealing things, I remember a story where you said he took things and put them in various places where you were finding them. That was so funny, does he still do that? They can dial the phone sometimes too, does it matter if it's a landline or a cell phone though? Oh I'm sorry you slammed the glasses in the car door, that would damage them greatly I'm sure. Willy is s smart kitty and knows his own weight, whereas my cat---a different story altogether haha. Oh well. I caught her sitting in two large flower pots next to each other the other day. It looked hilarious, she couldn't fit in just the one. I just love all sizes of cats, though. they are all beautiful. OH yea, my cat did that the other day too as she was trying to get on the dresser, she knocked a few things down and she didn't quite make it. I then picked her up and put her on there myself. I had to really laugh out loud about the towels falling on his head and him not moving til they stop. Funny but not so funny, LOL. At least they are soft and wouldn't hurt him, LOL. I just love it when the cats will curl up to you on the bed and sleep and do the purring bit. My cat has just discovered a extra pillow next to the bed I put there for her and she has been sleeping there alot of nights in a row lately, she won't do that in the warmer months though. She always used to stay on the bottom of the bed where my feet could knock her off of it, so I'm glad she moved away from that.

My kitten sure did try to break my glasses the other day. I have a table by my bed that I put my glasses on at night. The other night she jumped up into my window sill to look outside like she has done many times before. This time on the way down she jumped on the table and my glasses skidded across the floor. There is a little scratch on the lens, but it is really not that bad.

Kittens are usually pretty active and they require alot of supervision as well or they could break or get into alot of things. The cat could do that as well with the table as you described by it's usually not on purpose or they just don't know being an animal that they are doing anything wrong in the first place. They can't listen to us like a child would/could. I'm glad your glasses weren't very badly damaged.

Our pet has never broke anything. However, when I stayed at my sons he had a dog. I wear hearing aides and of course at night I have to take them out. I put the hearing aide up on a stand and when I woke up the dog had chewed my hearing aide and broke it. ( Guess they like earwax!) I can see the computer and a book near without my glasses. I had been having problems with my eyes, so went to the doctor and they gave me bifocals , but the doctor said I could just take my glasses off when I'm on the computer or reading.

Oh wow, so sorry about the hearing aides. i would have never suspected they would chew something like that. I wear bifocals also now and have had to used to them. At first it was alittle wierd but mostly now it's fine with me. They are invisable bifocals so you can't notice them at least.

Yes, I have a 4 lb dog who has ruined a few things. When she was a puppy she chewed the cord to my new cell phone and two $60 headsets. She was a good little girl for a few years then just recently she escaped from her kennel while I was at work. I didn't latch the door properly and I normally keep the kennel in my den with the door closed. She decided she wanted to leave the den so she tried to dig her way out. There is now a hole in my carpet and the bottom of the two doors to my den need to be sanded and painted. Worst thing she's ever done. Also I'm trying to move out at the end of the month and was planning on getting my deposit back. I'll try to have it repaired. Hopefully it can be repaired so nobody will notice and I can get my deposit back.

Oh sure a puppy can do that, it is almost to be expected when you get a new puppy or even a dog or cat full grown. They are just what they are, animals and have n o idea what to touch and not touch. I hope you can get your deposit back when you move, something like that isn't always repairable, but good luck with it. So sorry that you had those head sets and the carpet and doors.
