I have just come back from a four day, three night stay at Coron, Palawan. I can say that the place is truly amazing, with blue green to dark blue water. We went island hopping and saw the hidden gems behind the small islands that you can see from the plane as you approach Coron. You can snorkel and see various corals and swim among the fishes.
It is a seaside town, and from what I have gathered from the owners of our home stay, a fairly new one. They say that tourism just started in 2008 and it is evident with the springing up of new hotels around the area. But we preferred to stay at one of the home stays (Ate Lilian's) because we didn't need to walk or take ride to the port. The boat for our island hop fetched us from the home stay's veranda.
I would love to go back and do another island hop tour in Coron. Maybe next year.

Oh, i really envy those who've already visited Coron. I love looking at the pictures that some of my friends posted of their Coron trip.
Was the homestay a good experience? I mean, is it clean and comfortable?

The home stay that we rented is quite good. The rooms are newly renovated, so are the bathrooms and it is clean. What's best about it is that the owner (Ate Lilian) also allowed us to cook in the kitchen, thus saving us money. There are also a lot of new hotels in the town, if you don't prefer a home stay. Thanks for your response.

Yeah I heard that Coron is indeed developing to become one of the best tourist destination there in Palwan besides Puerto Princesa. It is not yet fully developed as of this moment that is why the prices are not yet that high but the place is very pristine as of this time. I just hope that I could also someday go to that place so before the place would become fully commercialized and the price is not affordable anymore.

Since my friend and I travel a lot, Coron has been one of the most expensive trips that we've had. There is a problem in the town in terms of regulating prices of commodities, places to stay and food. Imagine a slice of tanigue (without rice or a drink) will fetch P180. A plate of spaghetti is around P200. Food is very expensive and this is the reason why we chose a home stay so that we can cook our meals. Otherwise, we would be spending P300 per meal.
But this is just one of the downsides of the place. I still suggest you go and visit because it is really a wonder to behold/

What you see in the pictures is the real deal when you get there. Unlike some vacation spots where they get professional photographers, then edit the picture to make it look more attractive, Coron isn't like that. Thanks for your response.

Hey, can you suggest the best activities to go about a Palawan trip? We will be having a vacation in Palawan too and we would like to know what are the best activities to do out in there. Appreciate your suggestions and ideas. Thanks!

Hello Agent. It depends where in Palawan you will be going to. Will you be in Coron or Puerto Prinsesa? Puerto Prinsesa is where the underground river is and you have to book that in advance. With Coron, it's more of snorkeling.

Just spent a vacation last year in Palawan. We ended up staying in El Nido and Puerto Princesa. Maybe next time we will visit Coron. El Nido is a great place for snorkeling, scuba diving and island hopping. As for Puerto Princesa, we got tour packages for the underground river which is really amazing. Really had fun with the Palawan experience.

Hianne25penn! Seemed that you really enjoyed your stay in Palawan. Did you do any water sports while your there? I've heard lots of great stories about Palawan and how wonderful the island is.
I really hope to get to try and go to Palawan. Probably soon with my husband :)

My friend and I aren't good swimmers, so we contented ourselves with snorkeling around the coral reefs which is what most tourists do. I don't think there is any water sports activities in this place, but maybe in Puerto Prinsesa.

That's nice anne25penn. I haven't been to Palawan but it is one on my wishlist to visit here in our country. IHad you been to the famous underground river too? I wish I could visit Palawan one of these days.

The underground river is in Puerto Prinsesa which is quite far from Coron. So if you plan to visit Palawan, you can either go to Puerto for the underground river or Coron for the island hops. Both are truly amazing sights and what's best is that nature engineered it and I can say my friend and I were like school kids with wide eyes and mouths gaping because of the beauty and splendor.

Well if you have time and can afford to, then by all means visit the place. When my friend and I started our island hop, we both agreed that what we saw and experienced is something that we will remember for a long time. Thanks for your response!

Nice to hear you go to travel. May I know, I think this is tropical Island, isn't it? Well, I like so much travel go to Tropical country. We can sunbathing every morning. Run on beach, that's what I always do with my friends. I think you have to tell us how much money you need to go this island, so we can prepare our money

Yes, the trip was within my country the Philippines. With regard to how much you need to spend, it depends on how many people will be coming with you. But for this trip, I spent around $200 and that already includes the airfare, my homestay, and the island hop.
