Do you pay attention to television show ratings? Do you think they are fair? The networks talk so much about the 18 to 49 viewer that many times I feel like my viewing doesn't matter. I'm over 49 and do watch a lot of television. What do you think? Should total viewers be more important than the 18 to 49? I sure spend money like the 18 to 49 viewers.

no, i don't think those ratings are fair. i didn't even no that they were like that. people over the age of 50 watch just as much television as everyone else. i think the total views would be more important that the 18 to 49.

Its hard for me to believe what some of the networks will do to get younger viewers with certain young "stars" appearing on the television show as a guest star. I'll admit sometimes its very successful, but I have always felt it should be how many people watched the show. Thanks for the reply.

They are of interest to the networks and the people who are on the shows. Not something I pay attention to. If I like something I watch it if not I change the channel. I too am over 49 but the ages in the viewer study don't affect me in the least.

I'll admit there are television shows that 13 episodes is great with great story lines and a conclusion that is satisfying. The only time it really bothers me is when I'm watching a mystery and we don't find out who committed the crime. Thanks for posting.

That drives me crazy too. When the end it with a cliffhanger or in a way that you have to figure out who done it after watching for hours or multiple nights in a row. Or it is a great mini-series and the ending is just awful.
It isn't the ratings that get to me it is now the writer who did the ending. Not bad if there was going to be a sequel but that isn't the case all the time.

They know that demographic is more likely to spend their money foolishly! And I'm saying that as someone in the desirable demo. People usually get more responsible as they get older. I do pay attention to the ratings because if I get attached to a new show, and it has no way in heck of being picked up, I'm going to stop watching probably.

Its the biggest reason I still haven't watched Last Resort. There is no way ABC will give the show another season and cliff hangers really get me steamed with the no knowing and we can both name a lot of shows that left us hanging. Thanks for posting.

I am never affected by ratings which are sometimes surprising anyway. Some networks get the highest ratings but I don't even watch their shows. So it actually depends on the viewers themselves. These ratings I think are accidental.

Thanks for posting. I know watching ratings should not matter to me, as many times seeing the results is hard to believe. Some of the best cable shows have few viewers; however, that has been changing with more people watching television online.

I do not care much about television series ratings. I watched some series and considered some series as over rated and some are under rated. But most of the time, those highest rates series are really good. But this does not apply most of the time.

Unfortunately, ratings in the United States are important, as many great shows get cancelled because of their ratings. I wish it wasn't true, but every year a show with time might have been a hit, but its cancelled after airing a few episodes. This year I'll admit shows did get a little more time. Thanks for posting.

I am not bothered at all by those ratings. They are rubbish! They are said to concocted by the network who wants to be on the top list.
All i want is for them o be more competitive and give us new feel good shows. I am myself a television fanatic, specially at night after work, to relax.
I like shows that i can relate with.

I do like feel good shows that people help others like building a house for a family that lost their home like what happened in New York recently. Its hard to watch all the people that lost loved ones because of the bad weather. Thanks for posting.

I really don't give a damn about ratings. If something interests me, I will watch it. If something does not interest me, I will not watch it. If it is the biggest trend in the world, I have absolutely no desire to go anywhere near it, because I am not interested in being "popular."

I shouldn't pay attention to the ratings, but it really makes me mad when I just get really interested in a show and its cancelled because the 18 to 49 age group aren't watching it. Sure I should just enjoy the episodes I'm giving, but then I don't find out who did it for a mystery. Thanks for posting.

Of course, raitings are not fair, money talks to create good ratings, it does not matter for me what the raitings said, it is more important what I like. Most of the times TV Series with low raitings are the better ones for everyone.

There certainly have been some great shows over the years that didn't last long and I wanted more episodes. I'm hoping more of them will come back on some channel to get another chance. I'm happy a few shows have come back and done well. Thanks for posting.
